This flooding is normal. Thats why this is amazing farmland. Unfortunately its mostly been urbanized so homes are flooded instead of field used for crops.

Well said, a former farmer, who still owns the farm that lower fields can flood. Rich soil

@@PacificNorthwestWeather Humans have been on this planet for a millisecond of its existence and we have been recording history for even less time. The river is flooding its highest level ever because urbanism has spread farther, wider and more dense than ever before. All that run off has got to go somewhere and its the Lowlands, which have flooded periodically throughout RECORDED history making it great farmland because of the fresh silt that covers the fields....or covers the houses nowadays.

I dread seeing stuff like this a lot of damage. Makes you wonder about the place you choose to set up a home.

We do have to remember that in the Pacific Northwest the I5 corridor is pretty much one big flood plain.

This isn't a normal flooding if you consider TheBlob, recall that's a warm ocean that blocks west_to_east Siberian cold, turns north thru BeringStrait a low point dumps heat & moisture cools to go south as an airmass 1200mi × 1500ft thick oozes as a groundhugging cold Pt.Barrow to the Gulf where it meets moist-warmer air severeweather occurs. So, storms aren't jetstream connected like the Holocene anymore. To fix it cool TheBlob back down, so simple except oceans hold [2.5×-4×] more heat than dirt-rocks-strata on a 71% saltwater, 29% land/lg.island planet. All the floating car sheet_runoff flooding in ancient cities where they never happened before are explained by warming oceans. We go extinct from cesspool oceans emitting hydrogen_sulfide we die above 200ppm, that's about 3.5ky-5ky hence as-is unstoppably by attitudes & ignorance. Enjoy 🍺

@hotwired1954 This is western Washington. Arlington area. The major shown is highway 530 just off I-5. The gas station flooded is the corner of both. Shaft, snohomish, pilchuck are just a few over 16 rivers at flood stage For those saying don’t build in flood zones this isn’t flood areas! We were hit with a massive rain storm in 5 days we have had almost 7 inches of rain. Mountain snow is melting from the rain and filling rivers along with all the rain.
@joecool4656
@joecool4656 9 месяцев назад
You are saying it isn’t a floodzone but a lot of the stuff we are looking at was built in a low-lying area. That is still a floodzone

Oh wait, Here is a Great Idea... Lets build a road that Dips Down into the Natural Flood Basin. That way every year we can send Cameras out to Confirm the State DOT is inept. Nailed It.. Next we can build Houses in that Flood Plain so we can have people to talk with about their house flooding.. But I thought we had a Governing Body that has strict laws about building in a Flood Plain.. Hmmm must have missed that building site Permit and Inspection.. Amazing

Just curious if the oso landslide is the reason the stillaquamish is flooding so bad.. i imagine that event changed the river bed affecting flood levels..

Looks like the Skagit river near Mt. Vernon. Floods like this quite often there. The rest of the state, not so much.

Only the river valley areas. Probably affects a couple hundred thousand people at most. This too will pass. Mt. Vernon is like 20 feet from the banks of the Skagit river, so it's gonna happen now and then. @@pickyourswitchoriginal
