You know, Joey.. .for someone who's without formal training and is basically self-taugh, you're a natural. A real genius at woodworking. Glad you're back
The most interesting woodworking video I've seen so far. Man oh man, so many amazing tricks and problem solutions, that I don't know which one to point out. I can't imagine you making any money on those chairs unless you got an order for ten thousand lol. Cheers man, thanks for an amazing video.
Hi Joey, great to see that you and your business are still going strong. I, like many others, 222k subs to be exact, watch your videos because we are in awe, amazed and inspired by your craftsmanship. Both the chairs and your skill are outstanding. As for Covid, well the world has changed and as is still changing. Life has taught me a few lessons along the way but one thing I have learnt is that when you are in a position where you can't do anything, do nothing. Don't panic or stress as you can't change it but what the hell is the 'it' we are worried about anyway. Things could be better but things can always be worse and often our worries and fears never come to fruition. Just react when you have to, when you need to. Meanwhile just step back view 'it' from afar and breath, yep breath. Keep yourself and your family safe and keep the videos coming fot the two hundred and twenty thousand people who are interested in you and wishing you well.
A beautiful outcome to a challenging journey! Thank you so much for teaching us. I watched slowly and deliberately, digesting it all. And now, I'm off to my little shop to never, ever start a chair project!
H I joey and great to see you back. Again another fantastic build and awesome result. One thing that I find really interesting is your problem solving skills, I have a saying that, there is nothing that can’t be fixed and you just prove that. Thank you for your posts I really look forward to seeing your work, keep them coming please.
My hats off too you! You do Beautiful work!!! People always ask me if I make chairs and I explain that it's not worth it. It's a tremendous amount of work and to do just a few would be prohibitively expensive. They are better off going to a chair place.
SO very glad you still have your shop through all of this. By the way, the chairs are amazing! My dad used to use that same Weldwood glue when I was a kid - joints he made 45 years ago are still holding solid - those chairs are NEVER coming apart!
Joey, no matter what it is, you're not being paid enough. Absolutely a Sherlock Holmes set of chairs. So many problems and great solutions. Kudos for a fantastic job.
Glad to see you back in the shop !! Wishing things pick up and go well into the future for you and your family. Just love watching you build good quality and great craftsmanship.
Greetings from KOREA. It's nice to see you back in your shop. There is Great craftsmanship in there as always. I hope you and your family well and good luck.
Big smiles all round and very glad to see you are back. I really hope you, and you business, get through this covid mularky stuff, that you keep on producing excellent products, such as these chairs, as well super videos to pass on your expertise to the rest of us lesser mortals. Thank you.
Great video Joey 🙂 nice to see what you have been up to since you have been allowed back in your workshop. Your work is nothing but amazing and highlights to me that we as wood workers are only limited by our imagination! The challenge always is then how do we go about making it. Jigs, clamping arrangements and a lot of trial an error is how it's done and you have excelled once again. Watching you work always gives me ideas how I can do things. Thank you for sharing your work and your skills. Take care and I look forward seeing what you create next 😊
Beautifull work Joey ,i bet you are glad you have it finished. Great save on the back with the leather 👍,but also nerve wrecking ( for me at least). Greetings from Belgium.
They turned out just fantastic mate, the upholstery in the dark/black leather highlights the timber beautifully, I am sure your client will be well happy 👌👌👍👍
Love those chairs! Nice work! I like how much you use your bandsaw. Here in Germany most carpenters don't use it. They seem to be better for collecting dust sitting in the corner than cutting some wood. Regards, Etna.
My goodness Joey! Soooooooo much work in these chairs. I can’t believe for one minute that you’ve managed to make any money out of these guys (I hope you have) I hope the client appreciates everything that’s gone into them. Top work.
I HAVE MISSED YOU!!! WELCOME BACK!! Beautiful work as always! I have to say I got pretty nervous for you when I saw you take a drill to the almost finished chair to secure the top of the back. Of course you handled it deftly.
Looking at the process with the panther router. The bit takes quite an aggressive bite initially and I noticed you had to glue a tear back on. Wondering if it would help to wrap the edge at the cut with blue masking tape before you start routing.
Those chairs are stunning. How comfortable will they be to sit on for a couple of hours? Sad, to hear the original was cut up / used for the production chairs, but you'll still have the forms, so it may not be too difficult to make more. Thanks for the vid. Cheers, David.
Cheers David, they are pretty comfortable for 5min a know. Longer than that I'm not sure. I have been asking everyone who comes into the shop to sit on one and give me honest thoughts. All good so far.
Great work as always, Joey. Question: Why not make a second set of A and B molds for the chair back? To turn that 12-day process into a 6-day one. Or did it not really matter as the rest of the build was going to take longer anyway?
HOLA BUEN VIDEO EDUCATIVO PERO UN FAVOR LE PIDO PUEDE PONER SUB TITULOS EN ESPAÑOL POR FAVOR SE LE AGRADESE DESDE YA SU AMABILIDAD GRACIAS UNA PREGUNTA PARA QUE LA MADERA TENGA ESE BRILLO COMO LA TRATA Y CON QUE MATERIALES LO REALIZA POR FAVOR GRACIAS.
Is a formaldehyde-based glue safe to use? Or is the outgassing of the formaldehyde at 'safe' regulatory levels? Or am I being paranoid for no apparent reason except for the possibility that my heightened level of anxiety is associated with a certain viral pandemic and living in Sweden, where the virus is rampant and a certain percentage of the population don't seem to want to follow certain protocols to prevent the spread, as it messes with their summer holiday plans!
