This is a condensed version of my first trip with Xander in 2021. Why repost old content? Right now it's mainly due to the knee injury (slowly recovering and seeing the surgeon tomorrow but no timeline yet). But there are lots of reasons why I do this once or twice a year: -Financial: these trips have no hard expenses and with some extra polish often bring in much more ad revenue than the original which helps make doing this full-time viable -When this was posted in 2021, I was still learning Davinci Resolve (after finally ditching Windows Movie Maker) so there was a ton to clean up from the original post (trimming the fat, better colour and sound, and straight up mistakes like accidentally exporting the main audio track in mono instead of stereo) -Reposts come 1.5-2 years after an original series so hopefully if you are rewatching it (thank you!), enough time has passed for the memory to be foggy -The channel also grows in that timeframe and most new viewers don't go through a back catalogue of 300+ videos. This brings it to the surface for those people and others. -Sometimes I can't get out for a while so I time reposts to fill gaps.

John&Erin just wanted you to know that you are an important part of my life. And, I miss having new content probably as much as you miss being out there. From your psych sessions with Gary to your proposal. I’ve watched every one strait through. Thank you Erin for saving John without having to use the zolio(sp). My connection is this. Lived worked and had my family in Detroit. Went to Canada nearly every week. Almost every vacation was centered around tent camping each of the Great Lakes except Lake Ontario. The boys and I did that once for a hockey tournament. I was lucky enough to fly in fishing to northern Ontario 5 times. We caught walleye until our hands bled. Taking a sein for minnows, using leeches (under almost every shoreline rock) taught me there is nothing better than natural bait. Since that time and for the past 15 years my wife has had MS. As her 24/7/365 caregiver and with zero help I barely get time for a mile walk a few times a week. Camping, hiking, fishing just isn’t happening anytime soon here. So, I hope your knee gets back to 110% soon so you & Erin can get back out there. One suggestion while you’re down. Build your playlists so that I can just put you on to watch all day. Maybe by year? Season? One with all of Erin’s content? One for Lake Superior? Give us an update when it makes sense.
@LostLakes
@LostLakes Год назад
Very touched by that Glyn, thank you! 💚 My heart goes out to you and your wife...that's a painful sacrifice to say the least about that. Coincidentally we have playlists for each year and for trips with Erin (and I think even for Superior lol) :) If it helps, I did a car camping road trip last week which I'm aiming to post in the next couple of days (with updates on the last three months) and I'm hoping to start canoe tripping again next week (with no portages for now)

Hey John & Xander, I grew up in Eastern Ontario and went to university in Northern Ontario. I have been living and working overseas the past 16 years in a few different countries and am currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I have been working through the decision of moving back to Canada soon, but it hasn't been the easiest decision given that I have gotten used to living abroad, enjoying the long haul travel, visiting bustling South-East Asian cities, and my lifestyle in general. I have been watching your videos, and the more I watch, the more nostalgia I feel for Canada, the nature, the people, the seasons. Your videos have made me realise that I'm ready to go home and begin a new phase of my life and one that will include reconnecting with the Canadian wilderness. Thank you.

@Lost Lakes I just watched 2 more of your OLDER videos tonight. You are AWESOME! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU AND ERIN! I love how calm you 2 ALWAYS ARE! NO MATTER WHAT the circumstances are. You 2 AND Xander are special in a different way. You 3 know how to SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY even the smallest things in life. That is something I am TRYING to teach my children. My 18 year old son learned as a small boy how to do that. But now with all the electronics and internet it's been difficult trying to teach my 5 and 8 year old daughter's(they don't have phones or social media) but their friends do. That's part of the reason why we bought our "glamper AKA camper" so we could raise them in the outdoors. It's amazing how much the 2 of them ENJOY being outside in nature now. When they are older I hope to one day dip our toes into what you are doing. Your videos will be helpful to us then. Keep up the good work and PRAYERS for your knee! Jon, great idea to offer a fresh cut of a past trip! I enjoyed this one as much as your original. One thought I had for you (if you haven’t done this already) was the potential for you and Xander to do something live where you talk about your trips, discuss gear, talk about fishing techniques, as well as maybe some stuff that never makes it to your vids like setting up cameras, doing your dishes, talking to sponsors etc. the inside scoop! Anyway, hope you are healing up well and look forward to seeing you out there again soon!

Thanks a lot Sung :) Been working on something similar to that lately but I'm not sure I'll ever finish the project...it'll take me at least another month so we'll see how long my knee is messed up

So awesome, thank you for sharing your slice of wonder! Jon the experience was fantastic, but my favorite part was you giving your thoughts and feelings...I too enjoy the lone peacefulness, but at the same time having a close friend as well! To me life has always be to experience and enjoy and you have found that in a very special way. Please continue to explore adventure and happiness and given the chance share it with us! Cheers and all the very best...

No problem on the re-posting. I had a great time. The northern lights with the strobing pool campfire in the foreground was my favorite shot. I also liked the mushroom shots in scenes around camp. Thanks for another great trip. Dave Purkerson
