As the Lewis of Huey probably never said - "It's Hip to be Tang."

"Black Boy" was played by David Gulpilil, a legendary Indigenous Australian actor whom many might remember from Crocodile Dundee. I first saw this back in the 80s. I'm 41 and American and growing up with films like these I was inspired to visit Australia and walkabout the Northern Territory, which itself is quite arduous, but incredible, awe inspiring and beautiful. My girlfriend is Australian and I long to go back as soon as possible. Merry Christmas! ❤

Got a lot of balls. I'm Aussie born and raised, but I've never dared brave the outback before. Maybe someday.

@@a.jherbert5436the Northern Territory is a really beautiful experience and I recommend anyone to visit Alice if they get the opportunity. It's more than just Uluru, and even if it wasn't, it'd still be extraordinary.

My dad used to make me watch art films when I was far too young to understand nor appreciate them and this one just depressed me. I think I was ten, maybe. My mom called in the middle of the film and my dad didn't let me pick up the phone to talk with her and as soon as the credits rolled I got up to call my mom back and my dad screamed at me "SIT DOWN!!" I remember that more than the actual movie, aside from what happened to the aboriginal kid. Unpleasant day.

perhaps he was fascinated by things beyond his grasp. maybe he wanted your help. a travelling companion on an otherwise lonely journey.

My guess for tomorrow is Threads. It's got everything Georg loves in a production: tiny budget, great set and costume design, provocative shots, and crushing existential dread. Figure he's got to talk about it at some point
@TroubleToby3040

The funny thing is, I, as an American, was predicting "The Day After Tomorrow" which is basically the American version of Threads. Of course, Georg is British, so, if one of us is right, it'll be you.

Finally guessed one! Had to watch this a few years ago for a film study class and while this kinda arthouse film isn't normally my thing, the beautiful photography and presence of Jenny Agutter certainly helped me to appreciate it more. What I remember the most, aside from footage of roos or wallabies being speared, is that the dad's death is almost comical with how brutal it was

Walkabout: there's five minutes of story and 2 hours of absolutely compelling, unforgettable film. I recommend chasing it down with Peter Weir's 1971 movie The Last Wave, also featuring David Gulpilil, for something completely different.

Between this, "Wake in Fright" and "The Cars that Ate Paris", Australia is the perfect setting for existential horror. And John Meillon is in all of them.

Without a doubt, this is one of my all-time favorite films. It's special in how it manages to connect with you in a way few films can. I've seen people describe it as filmed poetry, and I think no other description fits it quite as well. A beautiful film all around.

1:02 this is my favorite IRL stupidity trope. Yelling makes them understand your language more.😂😂😂 I know it's just a kid in the film so he gets a pass, but I've seen adult humans do this kind of shit in real life and I just turn away from the situation and snicker because it shows so much stupidity.

Survival movie God Must be Crazy. Koyaanisqatsi is more apocalypses prediction movie. God Must be Crazy if God from Cesna airplane gifts empty coca-cola bottle that bushmen's finds 30 way to use in everyday life but it was devils gifts because it creates notion of belonging, because glass bottle is only single unit, that creates war inside Bushmen tribe for possession of bottle, kids head was cracked with blunt instrument (glass bottle) :). In west worlds to produce 1 kg of glass needs two kilograms of coal but coal is cheap and efficiency is not important, thus instead recycling glass packaging we throw away for re-melting.
