Can you fit the Mylar in full size if you put the felt wads in after? Seems like it may be easier if you don’t need to trim it.

I loaded 10 to try, used a depetaled CB-1138-12 wad and federal top gun hulls from BP ($20/500ct), cheddite 209, 27gn longshot (1grain over listed but as Johnnys Reoading Bench says hope I don’t blow my dang face off), no buffer but did use mylar sheets, no bulging but some crimps came undone and had to be recrimped. Will see how these go!

@@theshotgunscientists well I only did 10 of them and I will shoot it 1 at a time in an old 870 that has a barrel easily replaced should shite slide sideways rapidly…..on that note I had been using a conversion table I had gotten from another Tuber regarding the Load All 2 bushings as to how they weighed out predictable charges with Longshot. That said, perhaps before firing I will examine 3” lore deeper to see what 27gns looks like in a 3” hull (pressure wise too) with 1-7/8oz load of buck. I am not beyond disassembly of these mere 10 and starting over either lol.

Federal hulls are not as thin as the Fiocchi, would you have to use the mylar wrap on those hulls also?
@theshotgunscientists

We used federal/estate hulls to test the load with and yeah you still need it unless you don’t feel like saving the hull

Well folks, just loaded up my very first buckshot loads. After compiling date from several places i loaded winchester AA compression hulls, claybuster 1138-12 wad, 9 pellets of OO buck, overshot card and a light load of 32 grains of blue dot. Loaded half with buffer and half without to see ghe pattern differance. I loaded they 3x3, unfortunatly i got a small amount of dimpleing on outside of hull but they ma ually cycle in my 1100. Wish me luck.
@theshotgunscientists
@theshotgunscientists Год назад
You need to remove the petals from any wad if you’re using 00 buck in 12 gauge or yeah it’ll dimple the hull out. It’ll work stacked by 2’s but not by 3’s. Sounds like a good load though.
@jonleone777
@jonleone777 Год назад
@@theshotgunscientists Thanks much for the response. . Next time i reload these i will cut them off to avoid the dimples if the hulls survive to load again. Havs a good day.

I wonder what would the grain equivalent of HS-6 be for 15 pellts? So fair I tried 12 pellets of 00 buck with ~30 gr HS6 using a FS12 wad, 2x .070 nitro cards and roll crimp. My to-go for 9 pellet 00 is 33 gr, 1 FS-12 wad and either a 0.5 fiber wad or a few nitro cards depending on the shell.
@theshotgunscientists

Hs6 doesn’t go over 1 5/8 ounces in 12 gauge man and this is a 1 7/8 ounce load.

Morning Tyler can I use a ssw with the petals ripped off. 27grains of longshot and 15 x 00 buck in a 3 inch shell. I've made a couple up and the stack height is perfect. Or should I drop down to 26 grains?
