I've tried that both ways..ok patterns but my best duplex load was mixing #4 steel with BBs ...274grs of ea. mixing in a container then pour right into the shell..great patterns. I use the same powder and wads.The smaller shot fills in the gaps between the BBs.....you might want to give it a try...good shooting
I’ve definitely found more consistent and even patterns with bigger shot over the smaller shot, tested 6 shells half one way and half the other and found for lead turkey loads big over small patterns more evenly. Steel loads I’ve found the same for BB and 3. Just my experience though
@@Duckslayer1096 with turkey loads I like it because I have 4s in there to hit harder and 6s to fill in the gaps seems like I get a very even dispersion of 4s and 6s throughout with a hot core of 4s which I like, with the Steel loads I don’t know if I’m helping or hurting myself with duplexing BB and 3, I get crazy tight patterns with 2 3/4 BB loads with the 2 3/4 TPS wad, longshot and cheddite hulls
I wouldn't even waste the time weighing out the shot. I just put it to the top of the wad But of course weighing the powder is Very important That's the way I like to do mine never had any problems
Question why not a 6 point crimp to fill the hole better and not have to use a os card? Will that change the pressure too much? Would like to try this load as well but with BB and 2.
Over shot card won’t have any effect on pressure. I had read the 8 point does better for smaller shot. But really don’t think it does. Main reason for overshot card was to get a good crimp and then seal with fingernail polish. But I am now using wax to seal and gives a better seal. Shot size don’t matter as long as u keep it at 1 1/4 oz and at the top or below the shot cup.
@@Duckslayer1096 Thanks for the info. I use the clear finger nail polish for sure.. I was mainly wondering about the 8 point vs the 6 point. I haven't tried ant 8 point crimps yet, but maybe in the future. Keep the videos coming! I like the loads you shoot a ton!!!
@@jasonedgar6991 I didn’t think the polish was sealing very good. Maybe I will compare the wax VS polish. Soak them in a bucket of water for a couple hrs. I don’t know if you will gain anything from the 8 point. I may buy a ballistic product 6 point crimp and compare the crimp. Still learning. Thanks for the feedback.
