SIBO is a condition in which unhealthy bacterial species have proliferated and ascended up the length of the ileum, jejunum, duodenum, and stomach, causing a flood of inflammatory factors into the bloodstream. SIBO is present at epidemic levels, but being largely misdiagnosed as IBS, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, eczema, and other health conditions.
Here are 12 common signs to look for that tell you that SIBO is a health issue for you so that you can take action to confirm, then correct it.

I was diagnosed with IBS a little over a year ago by my primary care doctor - she has basically ignored me and my symptoms. I have had intermittent bouts of bulky, light- colored, malodorous stools, constipation, gas, bloating, and periods of normalcy. About a month ago I started to get worse but had no diet or lifestyle changes. I have general malaise, fatigue, stomach tenderness, and brain fog. I am very health conscious and eat properly and exercise and don't drink alcohol or smoke. Yesterday I saw a gastroenterologist and I tried to convince him to do a breath test for SIBO or at least fecal tests and bloodwork for possible leaky gut etc. Especially since I have traveled to 3rd world countries over the past several years. The gastroenterologist dismissed all of that and just ordered a upper GI endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound... I am still miserable and don't know what to do. My insurance is limited and I can't afford to keep seeking new doctors. The gastroenterologist thinks the problem may be my gallbladder! To me, that makes little sense! I am 59 and live in the U.S.

I have suffered from constipation for many years and more recently developed an mmune system issue resulting in doctors prescribing steroids and immunosuppressants. The treatment has been helpful, but I have noticed a significant further improvement from drastically reducing my wheat intake and taking regular probiotic supplements plus yogurt every morning. I never realised that the bowel and immune system issue could be linked. I also stopped swimming in my local community public pool. I think the chlorine started my issues in the first place.

What I’ve read is that going zero carb keto is actually what can help as it’s totally eliminates all foods that can contribute to sibo, as some of the veggies you are eating might be fueling the bacteria. Eating only meat and eggs for up to 90 days may make the difference, then slowly adding foods back in to test any intolerances. Worth researching!

Yes, I do have IMO. I do suffer with methane gases with constipation. I ask my doctor for an IBS test, but says if you have SIBO I do not need this test.🤦‍♀️ I disagree and believe they do not fully understand this condition.
@Ruktiet
@Ruktiet Год назад
@@sav827 you disagreeance is very likely based on nothing. What I tell you is based on cutting edge research from Mark Pimentel at the MAST program in Cedars Sinai university hospital. They found that IMO is most effectively treated by using a combination of rifaximin and neomycin, or metronidazole as an alternative for neomycine. This alleviates the IBS-C symptoms in most cases, and the results are often long-lived, if not permanent. In case of SIBO (which is NOT what you have), antibiotic treatment is often only short-lived in efficacy, because the underlying cause is a reduced function of the migrating motor complex. In case of IMO, the migrating motor complex is not comprimized. The test I suggested is called “IBS Smart”; it check for your anti-vinculin antibody concentration to see if you suffer from this post-infectious IBS condition where SIBO is involved. But the fact that you have IMO, and not SIBO, makes this test irrelevant to your case. Your doctor probably does not not about this test, so I think you’re referring to a completely different test. So to recap; you need a proper doctor who’s well-read up on the literature of IMO, and should ne treated with rifaximin + neomycin or metronidazole + maybe bismuth subsalycilate if you also suffer from hydrogen sulfide producers on top of the IMO. To check this hydrogen sulfide involvement, you need a Trio Smart breath test, which is only available in the US. If you don’t have access to it, you should check if you suffer from symptoms of it. But is you suffer from constipation only, and your symptoms do not alternate between that and diarrhea, it’s probablt only intestinal methanogen overgrowth. Make sure you know the risks of taking neomycin. Metronidazole has less dangerous side effects, and side effects can be prevented by making sure you have an adequate thiamine (vitamin B1) status. Rifaximin is considered a very safe antibiotic because it’s not absorbed and works only locally. If this antibiotic treatment doesn’t fully eradicate the IMO, you should look into taking long-term herbals such as allicin. I highly recommend you watch the youtube video from SIBO SOS’s channel called something similar to “DDW 2023 Mark Pimentel”. You’ll find it on youtube that way. Good luck!

I have been desperately so k for the past 7 months. Doctors can find nothing wrong with blood test and CT scan. But I thinking Siboi mght be the culprit. Please can anyone tell me how to get a text that is a reliable kind. I don't think my doctor will give a test to me, so I will need to do it myself!! Thank you so much in advance. -Desperate in Colorado

Dear dr. William, Do we have to treat any positive SIBO case? Two years ago I had lots of digestion, bloating issues. But since last 1 year I feel much better; except indigestion when I eat kidney beans and chickpeas. Recently I tested positive for H2 Sibo. Do I have to treat it?

@@RealZayComo Im from Turkey. I bought a local one. You need to pay attention to buy sth good quality, a reputable-reliable brand. Diet is also very important. Eliminating gluten, simple sugars and dairy also helps. You can also search for sth called Schussler tissue salts; No6 (Potassium Sulphuricum) helps with digestion. I believe I benefited the most when started zeolit and these schussler salts.

I have intolerance to beans, milk, gluten, some veggies, soy milk etc., I have taken PPI's for almost 30yrs, what if I cannot stop taking PPI's, can I still fix SIBO? I have hiatal hernia so its tough to stop taking them, Ive tried and ended up damaging the esophagus within 7 to ten days, even probiotics are problematic also, maybe they affect histamine? Can I partially get rid of bacterial die off by doing daily coffee enemas I wonder? I think I know how to eradicate SIBO, losing weight is within my control but how can I stop taking PPI's when as soon as I do I get acid rebound and damage to the esophagus?

@gerofiore9695 2 года назад
@@LTPottenger I did do intermittent fasting for a while but I have to be careful as I have gallbladder problems so fasting can impact the gallbladder also cause \i take meds its hard doing a water fast, juice fating is problematic cause the watery solution is too wet and end up getting more reflux it seems
@LTPottenger
@LTPottenger 2 года назад
@@gerofiore9695 Basically you need to do low carb and fast. You can dissolve gallstones with supplements, and they won't come back so long as you stay away from low fat high carb diet. Then you have to slowly ween off the PPI. You need to do longer fasts of 72-96 hours or so. You should make much less stomach acid when fasting. Juice fasts will just wreck your gut even more. It's not easy but it is a lot better than being miserable then dying. Take the l reuteri probiotic yogurt too. The PPIs will definitely kill you over time.

@GearMaven
@GearMaven 3 года назад
Can test for hydrogen-based SIBO using the Food Marble Aire device mentioned under his info above. Can also have doctor order Trio-Smart test for hydrogen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide. Covered by Medicare. Or ask doctor to order SIBO breath test which tests for hydrogen and methane.

@@GearMaven Best to use organic acids testing. Breath test doesn’t give enough information. See a good nutritionist who understands gut health. Ignore info here about grains. They are not the problem. It’s treated with a specific antibiotic (not like usual ones) and anti-microbials but that’s why you need to be under someone’s care. It does take some time to get right anti-microbial. That’s my understanding. All the best.

@@sugarplumk2381 Contrarily, none of us in the Undoctored program of Dr. William Davis have needed an OAT to determine SIBO status. The Aire device works great for those with hydrogen-based SIBO. Even simple breath test confirms other. My methane-based was treated via Dr. Davis' protocols of Candibactin AR & BR (dosage as indicated on bottles), NAC 1000mg, Curcumin 1000mg, and essential oils like Cinnamon Bark, Oregano, etc. Cured my egg white allergy and egg yolk intolerance within 3 of the 4-week treatment. Followed up with 3-week SIFO treatment. Resolved H.pylori as well. All gastro issues resolved, no problems with broccoli, cabbage, etc., thereafter. We Undoctored believe the science re modern grain adulteration. Removal of all grains, sugars, additives has left most of us free of arthritis, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, with improvements in heart conditions.
