In my view, the first sign of intelligence is realizing how little you actually know. While these 12 "signs" all describe me, I am pretty sure I'm not a genius. I might be highly intelligent, but I have met plenty of people who were far smarter than I am. Newton, Einstein, Bohr, Dirac, Pauli, Heisenberg, Fermi, Marie Curie, Darwin, Feynman -- these people were geniuses. People like that are pretty rare.

I remember in the 6th grade I was tested with other kids in my class that including copying a complex design freehand with a pencil, putting puzzle blocks together to match the pictures and some other tasks as well. I remember the teacher that gave me the tests had my mother come to have a meeting at school. I remember them telling my mother that my scores in all my test fell just under the 90th percentile which was just under the genius levels for the test.and I was the only student in the school that was able to freehand copy the drawing shown to me to copy. I felt very special that day even though I wished I got one more question right on each test to make genius level

I learned to read fluently by age three and was skipped to 5th grade in kindergarten and finished high school by my 15th birthday (only because I acted up a lot in school from boredom). I have always had a hard time relating to people outside of an academic setting. The average IQ of 98 in the United States just blows my mind. That is only about 19 points above the line of MR!!! With a world of information at everyone's fingertips today, there is no excuse for this!!! Keep learning and researching and trying to figure out the world around you!!!

Social verification is necessary to some extent. When people say good things about me especially if its work performance, heck that just makes me feel good about myself and grateful for those verifications. Saying I don't need verification socially sounds like man is an island. No man is an island, social verification is necessary if those verifications are evident from the fruits labor. At least to me, I would like what I produce to be socially verified in the form of rating, reviews for me to be able to show evidence that my skills are useful. Oh, and I have a nose.

I've been called a genius multiple times, but what is misunderstood at a true genius realizes that they always have more room. To clarify what i am a genius in, my imagination is on a another level then most people. It sucks when i try to explain things that I thought of to someone like. Picture the scale of the universe(Size Period) and inverse it on itself and you realize that size hold itself present in order to exist within a continuous existence. This sounds like gibberish to every single person i've talked to. Does anyone understand the concept of nothing being impossible to exist? Basically to state something like space ever being nothing was kind of dumb. Nothing existing, contradicts itself to its most fundamental levels. I'm pretty slow though when it comes to basic tasks though, I overthink everything. This is where i've been thought at as someone very very slow. My point in all this is we've come to decribe genius in very broad ways and forget even the smartest people ever were very slow somewhere else. Its just the average person might not of discovered their genius.

@@peacefindersimply5001 my friend you have described something I have thought about for a long "time" (lol). You are correct in a sense, but in another's perspective you're not? Understanding how time itself basically measured by space and light.. on a quantum scale, and a metaphysical inclination and descension. The full understanding of a clock representing a sundial, the understanding of moon cycles, the understanding of pi and phi, even understanding of the degree itself (to a certain degree lol). It is basically this, one giant hourglass mirrored into itself(selves), and it will never cease it's expansion until all light will have faded. My personal theory is that plasma, and even thought itself exists as dark matter.. as long as there is light and a sufficient substance for life support, then there will always be. Never stop seeking knowledge, I can tell you first-hand, we owe it all to our Divine creator. He created the math, science, and all of languages simply because he exists as a connection between us and our natural creativity. Fun fact for you.. the imaginative part and function of the brain, is the only part of the mind that runs (from) upstream. This is truly thinking outside of the box isn't it? This list very gradually and smoothly improves from bad to okay. 1.) Us geniuses are more aware of stuff, yes, but we aren't even slightly less egotistical. At best, we might do a better job at gauging strategic moments that actually make us look good rather than just looking stuck up. I have a major ego issue (not what I'd call a problem, mind you) and I find myself spending large amounts of effort at times just hunting for the best strategic moment to glorify myself. Most people think of me as rather humble, while the most perceptive people frequently recognize that I have a lot of pride. 2.) Impulse control does not come any more naturally for us. If anything, it's less natural. To the contrary, we have better impulse because we think about these things rather than acting on instinct. It looks like it comes naturally, but the fact that it comes with careful thought and planning is the antithesis of that. So you've technically got this one bass-ackwards. 3.) I find I underfit more than overfit because I don't like being wrong so it's something of a defense maneuver. I think we can seem like we're overfitting when perhaps we're just more aware of categories that work for a given group. But I'll be honest: I don't really know how other geniuses fit on this one. 4.) We need connection just as much as anyone else. We often get less because it is more difficult to connect with others. I have autism also, thus I am particularly lonely as a result of having insurmountable difficulty coming to terms with most people. Us autists have a reduced need for human contact, but it's not reduced nearly that much. I may stick to myself, but I'm still lonely. 5.) Yes, I agree that we can focus more on something, perhaps being less likely to get distracted. But I sense you're interpreting this as a reduced capacity for distraction, when really it's just an increased understanding of the topic so there's more mental work to stay occupied with on the topic. That's the same reason we're so easily distracted when we're not interested in something: there's always something else exciting going on when you're perceptive. I have autism so this is doubly true for me. I have have an extreme capacity to focus in on things which interest me while being distracted from things that don't--I'm still trying to sort out how much of this is from my autism and how much is from my intelligence, but I think both are strong factors. *(Pro-tip if you are suffering from this: peeking a bit deeper into a topic you're expected to like but don't will often reveal interesting factors, enabling you to develop a taste for it.)* 6.) I am highly creative, yes. And people would describe me as messy, yes. (I would not describe myself that way.) I can't speak for others, but for me, keeping my things tidy is a matter of keeping them functional from a logistical standpoint. Time is a precious resource for me, and I can't stop my brain from running circles around me. What my mom calls a mess is an organized layout that helps me to function. When I was a child and my mom would force me to "clean my room", I would have to painstakingly put everything back where it belongs, much to her dismay. I know that the majority of "messy" people do identify with the messy label, but I suspect it is due more to cultural pressures than to actually seeing themselves in that way. 7.) I fully agree that us geniuses tend to have a major advantage in debate, but you're massively underscoring the impact of public speaking skills. As I have autism, even though I wasn't all that shy I still struggled a lot with speaking skills when I was younger. I have improved in my speaking skills immensely, and that has enabled me to go from nigh-unintelligible to masterdebater. 8.) Most geniuses probably find it a lot easier to gauge conversations and peoples' moods. I have struggled with it (because I have autism, obviously) but with training have, in some areas, become better than average with these skills (I assume because I have high intelligence--but maybe my elevated effort is a factor). 9.) Genetics - yeah but...of course? 10.) You are definitely correct that there is a correlation between lower intelligence and inundating oneself with a flurry of information without focusing on particulars as much. But you have invoked correlation fallacy. You assert that being exposed to the flurry of information causes one to become less intelligent. That's definitely false, and I'm pretty sure the truth is that being highly intelligent causes a person to avoid the information flurry and home in on specific topics of interest. Simply put: we spend more time per topic because we see more in it. 11.) We definitely do have a correlation with having a more twisted sense of humor. So does youth. Is this evidence that kids are more intelligent than adults? (Serious topic, I'm leaning both ways on this one.) A lot of people say that both potty humor and dark humor are immature forms of entertainment, but I don't really agree. Sure, potty humor is easier to understand and laugh at, but being willing to laugh at it as an adult might suggest a broader emotional range. But dark humor is frequently more creative. The people who get the most upset at dark humor tend to be less likely to get the jokes and/or have more difficulty separating humor/satire from statements/confessions. Like, they will look at me as though they think I'd actually throw babies or something. I've also noticed that the people most into dark humor seem to have a strong awareness of how such humor is typically a jab at the (hypothetical or real) inflictors of such harm, and serves to denigrate them for such behavior, far from condoning it. Those same people will quickly spot the difference between dark humor and radical bigotry. Yes, I agree, I think that intelligence and a love for dark humor have quite a strong correlation. 12.) I think we all love the journey more than the destination--our instincts are designed to make us want the destination, thus creating the journey, and since we spend the majority of time on the journey, nature has decided the most effective reward is during the journey. Thus, one who is more capable of stepping aside of their instinct and analyzing their life with a critical eye is more likely to notice this and take advantage of it. - - It seems like you definitely studied this topic for the video, and put in a good effort. But I think you lacked a good frame of reference to separate the good science from the okay or poor quality science. And I can't blame you for that; this stuff seems remarkably poorly represented in the scientific community thus far. FINE...I'll give the video a like >.>

What I think about your comment 1) I’m known as a humble, wise, and independent person. But I’m respected. Reason: I show my talents when I can without bragging about it. I have some tactics to get respected in an environment. Why I want to get respected: people don’t think out of the box. So when you’re not respected they don’t believe you and call you crazy. But If you’re respected they think about it 2) I usually learn about something quickly, so I do lots of research to learn more everyday. So you could ask me why you should hold a wine glass by the rod or how long is a maine coon’s life expectancy my brain finds the info and it comes to my mind. It’s like it shouts the answer to me. I mostly get it right. That’s probably because I love learning not because of IQ. And I use my logic and every single hint I get when I don’t know something. 3)I don’t like being wrong. When people tell me that I’m wrong offensively I go into defense mode. But if they tell it politely and logically I listen to them and try to understand. I do my research and say sorry. Science and thoughts can be proven wrong. 4)I’m seen as a very cold and emotionless person. Reasons: I have a death stare. I stare at somewhere random like walls when I’m concentrating or processing something I have a hard time understanding others emotions. People my age are very immature (12) and I don’t like speaking loudly, partying or drama. This makes me seem weird. I don’t give up easily. I insist that I’m right when I’m sure about it. (But I still listen to the person) I rarely act angrily. Anger is what causes war and drama. It also makes people more inefficient. No need for drama or hate. It’s best to have good relationships even if I don’t like the person. I do what I like. People my age (12) love volleyball, singing and drama. I like research, drawing, planning and creating. This makes me seem like a robot. People are afraid of me. Some even create rumors of me being an alien and planning to take over the world. I don’t really care though. If I cared about every joke, every insult or every criticism than I would get nowhere. 5) If the topic interests me, there’s nothing that can stop me from equipping my death stare, locking myself in my room and thinking for hours. I try to think out of the box. At the end I have many solutions. I make lists about what could happen if I used what solution. Than I grade the solutions. (A solution, B solution. Like A plan, B plan) 6)I have many things that I store for later and have plans for. My mom throws them out and calls me messy. When I tell her about my plan, she just calls me crazy. I also use my own techniques, not the standard ones. So people call me unorganized too. And time is very important for me. My brain doesn’t stop unless I’m sleeping. I’m mostly tired because I can’t stop thinking. 7)I would debate for hours to prove that I’m right if I am right. But I have a hard time expressing myself and speaking to others. So I write a 5 page essay to prove myself right. I end up receiving a sorry letter. 8) When I look at someone, I try to understand them. I use their body language to know what they’re thinking about, what they’re feeling, what they want to talk about and what they’re not comfortable talking about. This makes me seem creepy but understanding at the same time. 9) I have successful relatives and parents. My brother is just like me. My uncle works at Greece’s government. My aunt is a professor at the most well known university in my country. My dad owns a successful pharmacy shop. My genetics probably come from my dad and his family. 10)That’s right. When I see possibilities on something more than others, I work in it all day. 11)I have a weird sense of humor. But I try to not reveal my jokes because they can be offensive. And I mostly fake laughs, emotions and smiles. 12)I love the journey. Staring at the window of the vehicle gives me inspiration to draw, to write and take notes. -THE END I’m not sure if I’m a genius. I do not like to describe myself as a genius because I’m not sure about it. But I can describe myself as a person who picks up information faster than others. My personality type is an INTJ (architect, the mastermind) and I’m a 12 year old girl. I can call myself more mature than people my age. note: don’t tell me that I’m lying or that I do not belong in this video. I won’t respond to it. I have better things to do.

I’ve known several certified, tested geniuses. Every single one of them with at least one crippling disorder. From drug addiction to debilitating depression and everything in between. Most of whom squandering their genius or destroying their brains with substance abuse. The only genius I’ve known personally to effectively utilize his genius was a classmate named Kevin. He could read a novel between breakfast and lunch with over 90% lifelong retention. He became a computer programmer. His only disorder was extreme social awkwardness and a terrible speech impediment. His mouth muscles literally could not keep up with the ideas being expressed. Entire sentences just came out as incomprehensible blurbs. You couldn’t read his writing, but he could type faster than anyone I have ever seen. Entire paragraphs before the rest of us could type one sentence. He did not give two s**ts what anyone thought of him and was one of the funniest, good natured people I’ve ever known after getting to know him. He rarely let people “in”, but would ask me over sometimes to tinker with his computers or play Goldeneye. His dad was a genius too.

Although depression is an effect, and it's only temporary for a real genius. ADD/ADHD, OCD, Anxiety(when its involuntary), frustration, and others are more common. It has been said humans are the only ones that can go "insane/crazy" because your logic was crushed, and you had to have logic to begin with. That being said, a real genius will adapt. A real genius will also analyze what is causing depression and/or anxiety(voluntary) and fix it. Depression can later come from feeling alone in intellect, but some learn to seek out like minded. Vices can be the downfall to many geniuses. I think what helps here is experience and confidence and not so much being smarter. You need to keep seeking answers instead of giving up, especially in the worst of times.

The main sign of a genius is knowing you know nothing and are always researching and curious to find answers. Then as a genius you question those answers. 🙌🏼
@DanAnkers
@DanAnkers 3 года назад
I suppose then you would try to question any answers you find even further. And also try to integrate your answers into a more cohesive whole. Basically trying to solve the riddle of the universe, while the same time always breaking things down smaller and assuming you know nothing. Teaching yourself to hack that feeling of never knowing anything in yet always learning more, while it seems others love to just believe that one definition answers everything. Whichever book told them something they like to hear, that's what they go on. It seems anyway. I don't know if it makes me smart or just obsessive, but another thing I love to do his question my own self representation. My own ego. Because oftentimes it is my own ego that gets in the way of further understanding. There is actually a larger and more complex web of things that I do in order to further complicate things, in order to find truth. strangely enough, it's actually something I started doing when I was a child. I promise you there's a reason for it. Because it does reap benefits. I don't think it's a matter of intelligence, just a very rigid thought process that I use. I saw a necessity for it when I was a kid. No one else around me was using it.
@DanAnkers
@DanAnkers 3 года назад
I also started to meditate as a child. I don't know why I'm telling you this but you seem like you kind of think like me. I probably meditated when I was younger than 9 years old and got very deep into controlling my own breathing without ever being told how to. I grew up at the beach and I blame the ocean water for helping me with this... plus the hot sun beating down on you in this calming way. Plus the Horizon representing Infinity. Anyway, I remember as a child while meditating I realized that my ego was just a self-conscious truck. This happened because I remember thinking while I was meditating lately and having some random thought I remember thinking "that's not how I think" and then it occurred to me... who said that? Who came up with that idea? Who dictates how I think And how did I ever even come up with such an idea? And then further... Right after that I thought oh, "well who is this guy asking these questions now?" and then I realized you could go further back and ask yourself who just asked that question? Ad infinitum. so I realized it at some point when I was a little baby or somewhere around that time I started to come up with this idea called ME. keep in mind I was probably 9 years old or so at this point. I just kind of happened in the meditation and also realized it the ego was completely a self construct based on the recognition Of Self in time and space, and then the solidification of a series of self perceptions into a self-constructed version of who I am. But either way, it's an illusion. This fact never bothered me though, because I understood it. it did, however make getting along with other kids kind of difficult. LOL. because I would often forget about it and just live my day and enjoy myself and use my construct As it was meant to be used. As a vehicle. Ego as a vehicle. And not the harmful kind of ego, necessarily. Just a day-to-day sense of self. however, the problem among peers a rose when I would try to fit in and they would get to know me and I would find that me was an ever-shifting process of growth That was really hard to pin down. I've also always found it hard to laugh at things that I don't think are funny in a very deep way. I don't know man. I could go on. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
@DanAnkers
@DanAnkers 3 года назад
Oh, one last important piece to the Mind puzzle. Because this goes along with the meditation and the ego and the constructs and all that stuff... I've always found it very easy to daydream while awake almost as if I'm dreaming in my bed, asleep. Conversely, I have lucid dreams where I'm completely aware of the fact that I'm Dreaming to the point where I can make people's faces morph and move around because I questioned if that's how they really look in real life. I can do it with other things that I questioned in my dreams. Anything I question will suddenly start to move around and morph with my indecision. There's a lot of other things I can do in my dreams too. Like I can build whole castles with my mind and make fire come out of my hands and I can even rip apart dreams and fly into my own mind almost. Like it gets really crazy and if you ever wanted to hear about it I could tell you but I really need to talk to some kind of dream person about it I guess. But the greatest way I could describe how I can change my dreams, especially when things start to morph around... it's almost like the first person in a first person shooter game was also the software and Hardware and also the programmer of a computer game, all at the same time. And suddenly they became aware of it while playing the game and so they could fuck with programming while they were actually experiencing the game firsthand. I've met other people who could do stuff like this but I don't think I've really ever met anyone who did it on the same level I do. And I'm not saying that for any reason other than that's the truth. I guess the morphing is so significant because it's so Directly in control of the experience. It's overwhelming and I've done some other things with it. See, why it's significant is that when I normally lucid dream I'm just creating constructs out of already seen or thought of or visualized ideas that are somewhere in my brain. Nearly infinite ready-made thought-forms. however, when things morph round It's so much more an up to the moment thing. I'm watching the process of how dreams are built unfold. And interfering with the process. The Apex of this is a little different. But once I realized that all of the things I was dreaming about we're really just thoughts of my mind creating an inward visible hallucination. and I realized that if I stopped those thoughts and just relaxed like some Buddhist monk that there would be no constructs. and then suddenly when I did that I was in a place of no thoughts. Like nothingness but not even blackness or anything. it was super relaxing and nice But then I kind of startled myself With a single thought. Is this normal? And the thought was an anxiety thought and so from it sprung a dream. and that dream was of me on a sidewalk being barked at by a ravenous dog. and I was pulled into the dream for a second without remembering even where I was before in my thoughts. but then, I remembered that I had just had a single fearful thought and I stopped that thought and the dream re collapsed into nothingness. And I was back in that no place. So basically I shut down all my dreams and then watched my mind give birth to a single dream out of a single thought and then I shut that down again. it was pretty mind-blowing even as a kid. I'm pretty sure I immediately woke up and was like what the heck. but all of this activity in my dreams came from that single idea when I was a kid to begin my super aware method of thinking. always questioning and even always questioning the questioner with no end. it kind of made me more aware of the moment I guess.

I’ve had professors of science tell me they are impressed with me and I’ve had a music teacher tell me “I think you are very smart” over and over again. It was weird the way she said it. And now I’m thinking maybe I could be a genius. But I just find that hard to believe, because I feel like a normal person. I can’t imagine this being at the height of intelligence. Bc I’ve always saw geniuses as so much smarter than me, I knew I didn’t know so much. And thinking I could be a genius just makes me feel like I know less than I ever did before. I wonder if I am one. But this whole concept is really uncanny and interesting to me.

@@ummmkay1744 Look, Im going to be completely honest with you. I'm kinda pissed off right now, because I just wrote a very long and detailed response to your comment but I accidentally deleted it... 🗿 I'm obviously not going to write ALL of that again, so instead I'll just summarize most of what I wrote by making pretty bold sounding statements, that you may agree or disagree with, based off of what I have learned/observed in my life and my own personal experience. (Not in any particular order) 1. Geniuses usually actually do win in life, the trade off is just that normal people are more likely to misunderstand them and can't always relate to geniuses as well as they can to other normal people. 2. Just because someone has a low/high/normal IQ score, does not always necessarily dictate whether or not they are a "genius". 3. Calculating a persons level of EQ (Emotional Intelligence), is usually more effective at accurately identifying someone as a real genius. 4. Most real geniuses are extremely emotionally intelligent and this is how they are so good at manipulating the world around them because they usualy understand and take note of peoples emotions. 5. Most geniuses do manipulate people and the world around them it's just that some do it while having more malicious intentions than others. 6. Some people who are seen or diagnosed as clinically insane or mentally disadvantaged like sociopaths for example are sometimes genuises. 7. Some people that are seen as extremely good at manipulating other people in malicious and negative ways are usually geniuses just as much as people who have a much more positve way of getting what they want. 8. Lots of geniuses can actually come off as very naive or not that intelligent and have problems with "smart" people things like spelling or math. Just because someone strugles with some complicated things, don't understand some things, or learn slower than others, does not mean they're not a genius 9. In some cases, people who don't believe that they are more special, smart, or attractive than other people can some times have a higher level of self awareness and maturity and or could be more objective and logical than people who are more egocentric. Therefore, if you don't think you are particularly better than anyone else but not because you're overly pessimistic, you have a higher chance of being smarter than you think or being a "genius". 10: Not all geniuses are nesesarily smarter than most average people they just think drastically differently and the way they consume and process information is very different compared most average people. They think in a more unexpected way compared to the average person and that may make them seem weird or intimidating. They usualy challenge EVERYTHING, even things that are very simplistic and have obvious "right" or "wrong" answers.

@@ummmkay1744 I agree that not all geniuses win in life but I think most at least have the potential to. I think most geniuses think so differently compared to other people that It gives them a higher chance of succeeding where others can't because they think outside the box. Some of them just are not as confident with those thoughts to share them with others or apply them to their lives because they are "rejected" lots of the time. The reason why I made those bold statements without adding sources is because I personally don't think we really need science to prove everything to us. I form my thoughts and opinions by noticing connections between seemingly unrelated ideas and observing patterns and repetition/similarities in people and ideas, things we can technically all see but most ignore because they are obvious. I usually form an opinion by taking something seemingly surface level/simplistic and expanding upon it, sometimes to the point of obsessing over it. I think that's where I find the most "truth", in simplicity. That's just how I think. I don't ever think of myself as or call myself a genius; but although I am really young, I have been called a genius by a lot of adults in my life; even though Im not knowledgeable on a lot of things adults are. I don't think I'm one of them, but I notice a lot of "geniuses", like (Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Shakespeare) have a a lot in common with each other and I relate to some of it as well. I don't think being identified as a genius means that you are necessarily smarter than everyone else; it just means you think a lot differently than most. That's just my opinion tho, it's perfectly fine if you disagree.

@@ummmkay1744 I agree with most of what you're saying but I don't agree that I should change myself in order to be like everyone else. I don't feel inherently more special or better than anyone else, but I do feel unique and I like to feel that way and think all other people should also feel that way to an extent. I personally believe you should not feel like the most or one of the most special people in the world but at least feel a little special. I find that feeling even just a little different could make you feel misunderstood by some people, but It could also ward off feelings of inadequacy and worthlessnes because you don't feel the exact same as everyone else. When you feel unique I think you're more likely to notice that your life has meaning and purpose. Some people do over do it and turn it in to an ego problem but I think it's not inherently bad just like most other things. Like when how the world tells you that sodium is generally bad for you but when you completely cut it out of your diet you notice health problems, because your body actually needs it to function properly. I don't think really anything is inherently bad all things should just be done in moderation most of us just tend to either over or under do most things. In my opinion, nothing is inherently negative or positive things just exist and can become good or bad depending on how frequently or little you do things on either extreme side of the spectrum. I think it makes your life better when you feel at least a little different compared to others, Just what I think.

the kind of "genius" in this video can be summed up by into one single thing - HOW MUCH YOU USE YOUR CONSCIOUS MIND AS OPPOSED TO YOUR BASE INSTINCTS, FEELINS, AND EMOTIONS. The vaaaaast majority of us spend 90% "feeling" their way through life with their emotions. It does not matter how big and powerful brain is IF YOU DON'T USE IT. Our society (and our religion) trains us to be "feelers" as opposed to thinkers, and the few of us that escape this social programming are considered to be highly intelligent. There is nothing genius or special about anything said in this video, and all of the above habits and attributes can be attributed to people who spend a significant amount of their time THINKING as opposed to FEELING. Just like etiquette, manners, hygiene, or any other kind of social norm or behavior, every single mental behavior in this video are habits that can be taught, and should be taught to every child from birth, and in a healthy and responsible society that truly cared about its populous, this would certainly be the case. A child begins his/her life with their mother, and in this relationship a child is allowed to do virtually whatever they want or feel - Cry or scream whenever, use the bathroom whenever, talk whenever, move around and play with whatever they want, whenever they want. Kindergarten is designed to teach a child how to function in a classroom, how to function in a controlled environment with others, how to control your behavior and natural impulses so that you can fit and function in a society full of people. Just like the natural and instinctive behavior of a small child, acting out of feeling and emotion is innate in every human being, and we must be disciplined in order to be more in control of our desires, feelings, instincts, and emotions, and learn to be more mindful, pensive, aware of the moment, and in control of your thoughts and actions. This is simply mental discipline and not signs of genius in any way, but because we live in such an irresponsible and unhealthy society, the few of us who have achieved a measure of mental discipline tend to "stand out" and we are able to accomplish much more (in many cases) than the average person. The simple fact is that the true measure and power of your intellectual capacity (brain) has nothing to do with mental discipline, and a person with a fairly weak brain can achieve a high level of mental discipline and "appear" to be the smartest person in the room and achieve much in life, while the truly "big brained" person is a product of society and uses his feelings and emotions all day and never comes close to realizing his/her intellectual potential, and nearly everybody will perceive that person as unintelligent and even stupid. I'm sure a lot of you that disagree with this comment would simply like to think that all of the mental habits described in this video make you a "genius," but you would be wrong. These habits make you mentally disciplined, not genius. There is a big difference
@kukuricapica

I get what you are trying to say, but your post could've just said that habits in the video above are general and i'm sure that 90% people that were suggested/seeking this video have at least 5 of these traits/habbits. Does that make them/us genius? I for example can have a very messy room or desk at work at times and it has nothing to do with me growing up or with my habits at least I think so. I just find it inefficient use of my time to organize useless things if I live alone and I don't have to interact with anybody. To be honest I stopped cooking, grocery shopping.. well , because it takes time that I could be doing things I'm passionate about (like responding to random posts in YT comment section, lol). Someone asked me if I could have superpower what would it be and I simply said being able not to sleep/get tired. Imagine how much shit I could do in that extra time. Anyway that's not here nor there. My point is that I agree with you that these are habits that could be thought but I think that they are too general.

Nah, this was the first comment here that I really agreed with. What I consider to be simple logic and common sense is often seen as evidence that I'm far more intelligent than average. I just think, "you know, maybe if you just tried to use a touch of logic once in a while, people would say you're smart too"
@Oecobius33
@Oecobius33 4 года назад
Sure, blame society for people who choose not to act intelligent or discipline themselves. The irony here is that blaming society for your failures is highly encouraged in our society. And it's easy to claim that "anyone can learn these common-sense skills," but the simple fact is that everyone already knows these skills are good things--yet most people would rather take the easiest path through life instead of spending effort on self-improvement. Many, many, MANY psychological tests have found that some children are just born with better capacity for self-discipline than others. And those kids tend to achieve more later in life. (See the Marshmallow Test for instance.) That's a reflection of their brain chemistry, not Big Bad Society. Hate to burst your bubble, but humans are individuals who make choices every moment of their life; they aren't just mindless puppets of society.

I tried that, teachers failed my ass, because they weren't satisfied with what they openly admitted was CORRECT ANSWERS on a math test... Their logic? They didn't understand how i arrived at those answers, even though my method was written down right there on the answer sheets of the test... In painstaking detail. :P School is not a place of learning, it is a place of conformity... because your teachers are often morons who will fail you without a second thought, just because you aren't doing things in a way they can understand. xD And because these teachers tyrannically force their students to use the teachers specific methods to arrive at the answer (because the teacher doesn't understand math as a general concept, they only understand specific mathematical formulas), instead of encouraging students to use their own methods (Their own preferred formulas) to arrive at the same answer... The teachers stupidity and misconceptions are learned and thereby adopted by the students, in the students attempt to pass the exams. And so schools do not churn out smarter graduates, it just churns out brainwashed graduates. : /

Great video. I tested about 140 on an IQ exam when I was around 20. I'm not saying I am genius level, however I do identify with almost all of these signs. It is often a frustration of mine that most people don't share these same characteristics. I think that the traits aren't a sign of intelligence, but rather a recipe for higher intelligence. I wish I could share this video with people that I interact with daily so they could better understand me, but doing so would come off as pretentious. EDIT: I feel like this video 'justifies' many of my strange quirks, such as odd sense of humor, deep indulgence in solo activities, over eagerness to debate almost anything, always having a cluttered workspace, and the fact that I seem 'emotionless' when I am truly arguing. I am almost skeptical of the motive behind this video now.

It's possible that all of these examples are true, but some of them feel a bit too general to be relevant enough to indicate you might be a "genius" of sorts. Not only that, but it feels like some of these examples are claiming that uniqueness indicates genius level intelligence (like having a twisted sense of humor). After all, this video wouldn't be nearly as popular if the examples listed were more specific, like being able to perform specific tasks at an above average level. All of these examples are general enough that they could apply to just about anyone. If you truly want to know what specific behaviours might indicate high level intellect, studies that gain no financial benefit from pandering to you would be more reliable. Fun video though, honestly. I certainly enjoyed it regardless, haha :p

IMO the part to hold ur ground on ur point, it's the wisest who'd keep an open mind, especially in being wrong. No matter how much you feel ur right.

What I got out of this video, everybody is nearly intelligent but in their own way.
