I just started listening to kpop a few years ago...and became a fan of newjeans. I was looking at Instagram reels randomly and I liked a reel thinking it was Newjeans but turns out it was Illit. It's really too identical that I couldn't tell them apart on quick glances in reels.

People need to realize that the biggest problem with Be:Lift taking so much from Ador is that they are label mates, and that Bang PD not only let it happen, but was a part of it! In the case of the group Jeans, they debuted almost thirty years ago. MHJ took a concept she saw that was almost thirty years old and based on her intuition and experience thought it could work today. This was at a time when girl crush and sexy were the more popular concepts. MHJ took a risk, and it paid off, making New Jeans the hottest new girl group. Be:Lift created Illit less than two years after New Jeans debuted. There was no creativity or inspiration there. There was no risk involved. That was basically looking at all the money that was being generated by New Jeans and saying… I want one of those.

Bang didn't and as he failed in creating his "first" girl idol group with GLAM, it only shows that he was jealous of MHJ's successful girl-group producing skills. he denied presence of GLAM and announced Le sserafim as his "first girl group of HYBE." another fun fact, New Jeans were supposed to debut earlier than Le sserafim but it was stopped by Bang because he wanted Le sserafim to debut first. i think a lot of this happened because of Bang's high self-esteem and greed.
IMO, I think this issue arises because where in a complete different generation. Think of it this way, New Jeans' concept is not new, BUT is new in today's age. So when Illit's teasers and photos came out, (well in my case) I thought of New Jeans, BECAUSE they litterally brought back the Y2K in today's age. I know some would say that "New Jeans isnt the only GG who have brought back Y2K", yes they're right, BUT also keep in mind that the theie oncept is not just for the promotion photos or teasers, NJ also released Y2K inspired songs for their debut song and that is Attention. Is Illit not aware of this? They have the voice to speak about it. Also, it's really a question of creative integrity on Belift's part. This isn't the first time they've been accused of copying. There's a famous choreographer who accused them of copying her choreography without giving proper credit. The question is, did the agency address this? Even if they did, some say they credited late because it was only mentioned by the original artist. It's hard to say that this is coincidence the similarities of Illit to New Jeans as New Jeans is very current and popular this days and Illit just debuted so it's hard not to see that there is really a similarities considering the time and generation they are in

It won't look the same in videos like this but for example when you are scrolling through shorts and randomly see a pic of Illit, many people including me have confused it for newjeans. This is probably what people are talking about. I think the fact that most companies will use similar if not the same strategies to get their artists out there like fashion shows/ads etc would be pretty common too and since we don’t know how these deals came about there is no saying how the deals were made or the terms of the deal there is no way to know if it was meant as copying or not. She’s pretty ballsy for claiming plagiarism when that’s exactly what she done herself doesn’t matter if it’s 2, 10 or 20 years it’s still plagiarism. I know hybe are not innocent either but I feel mhj is putting on a poor me show to the public to distract from the things she’s been caught doing in order to get public support and tbh I don’t see how others can’t see through it
Everyone here stop talking about Jeans (The mexican group) As a Mexican American i don't thin any of us really care that shi was years and years ago. I don't think anyone would even want to start something with that group. Right now its more important about the whole ILLIT and New Jeans situation because literally even the whole concept, dances, hair look VERY SIMILAR. I have been audiance for this channel a while now... This channel is getting way to biased towards MHJ from the first video of this hybe adore drama y'all didn't mention the alleged personal info of artist leaked by adore. Rhis channel has continuously supported MHJ even any positive discovery of hybe has been presented in a manner that makes them suspicious of hybe and continuously claming hybe maybe doing media play, well adore could do that too. Nobody knows for sure yet so why insinuate that in the first place Im not siding with hybr here but the difference has been visible for a long time now.
Both groups are talented and each have its own merits but as a fan of NewJeans I want to point out something important. Without the art director /producer Min, there wouldn't be today's New Jeans / future New Jeans, she is like 5+1, one of the core members and very important mentor to these girls. She plays a crucial role for the future of NewJeans, without her the sound of NewJeans will surely change... I sincerely hope the issue surrounding Ador vs Hybe gets resolved in New Jeans favor!

So I was watching the latest New Jeans video for the Bubblegum song fanchant and the girls were linking the ears of their Binky Light sticks together to creates a friendship connection. While they were doing that I realized I was singing "...like it's magnetic, You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you..." by Illit. I wonder if Illit got the song and hand dance inspiration by the linking bunny ear light stick. Either way I like both groups and their songs.
