In this video, I take advantage of previously run 12V wiring to install a 12V power panel near the back of our Keystone fifth-wheel trailer. I chose to purchase a Kohree brand panel as it had USB C and USB 3.0 quick charge and a 120W power socket. It also was built for marine environments with water-resistant covers for the sockets and a waterproof switch.

We sold our RV the one that we had copied about everything off of your fifth wheel on. We're headed back to Yuma right now to look for another motorhome maybe we'll run across you out there in the desert somewhere. Thanks for the video my friend

I did this too. One on each side of the queen bed in my truck camper. Wife charges all her stuff over night, and me too. Fun video Ray.

My 2006 Cardinal didn’t come with any USB charging ports. A couple of 5 yrs ago or so, I redid my under-bed (slideout). I added one to the skirt paneling. I drilled three hole versus one long hole. Then I got inspired and made a 6 x 4 x 2.5 box that enclosed another one. Attached it to the underside of the bedroom hanging cabinet, tied into the lighting power. I like the on/off switches, killing the parasitic draw when not using them. However, Now that I have a battery monitor, I want to get rid of the volt meter function. Pinching my milliamps 😁. Also, the blue (night) lights can bother some people. Now, I have USB outlets everywhere of kinds of types. I might have went a little overboard. 😊

A few years ago I did something similar, except mine has four ports for separate voltmeter, lighter, USB, and switch. I installed it below the TV in the entertainment center. The USB port died last year, but was easily replaced since all the components are modular. Because my recliner is in the poorly insulated slide-out, it tends to be cold in the winter. I use the lighter socket to plug in a heated auto seat cushion. I can stay warm without needing to run as much heat. It's also nice not to have to sit down in an ice-cold recliner in the morning. Brrrr!

Handy Ray at it again! I wished I could utilize your handy skills for just one day. I've been wanting one of these by my corner RV bed, which is where my panel is. I got a quote from my Rv repair services and they quoted me $600. Needless to say, I said no way! I fear messing with the electric panel. Although I followed your video for installing the Vortex fan in my bathroom and it works great.

I like those jacks/plugs/switches/etc. I added a fast charge USB in my car a few years ago and just today received 2 cigarette lighter jacks for future installation. Trying to make the 2005 a little more modern. LOL

Looks good and useful with a handy shelf. Although I find these days that I don't bend over as well so I try to mount things like this up higher. It's an older guy thing. Thanks for showing us your relaxing life.

I added a couple of similar ports last year, so I can charge devices when boondocking (I don’t have an inverter.). I found it easier to not use the rectangular mounting plate, and just drill the holes for the devices directly in the panel. I’m now contemplating mounting one on the outside.

Those panels are great! We installed one before our latest trip down south and it's been awesome for keeping the phones charged. One thing I'll say is that I blew the fuse on mine trying to plug in our tire pump. So you do have to be careful with how many amps you try to put through it! :)
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 2 года назад
Yeah, my VIAIR compressor draws up to 20 amps so I have other higher amperage DC ports outside for it.

Nice Ray, My kid was watching (he is 22) and ask "a cigarette Lighter" wtf! I explained , he ask, was the Tobacco cartel that influential . Yep! I exclaimed and he looked puzzled. Further, he said, that's crazy. Yep! I replied. Then I said. Happen across the spectrum of things folks buy and do. He said "glad I don't let that kind of thing in my life". Sure son education is a marvelous thing. Addiction is the playground of fools. Oh yeah I said, now how much time are you involved w/video games daily? Perspective.

Guess its due to the stereo mic on the camcorder picking up my voice on one side more than the other.

I’ve added these all over my rig. You would think that it would be a no brainer and cheap to put them everywhere… but let’s face it, they didn’t even run a wire to my ceiling vent in the living room of my Cougar

Hi! Trying to link up two of these dual/triple usb units in my camper but I can’t find any diagrams or instructions - any advice?:) thanks!!
@GimpyCamper
@GimpyCamper Месяц назад
@@csababartha9497 it should be fine to connect all the positive together and all the grounds together. That being said you have to remember it’s not the thickest wire usually ran to areas where chargers are present in campers. You can’t have a really high load on them. If you’re running new wire add either a fuse block or an inline fuse and I’d run 12 gauge wires. 12 volt circuits are very easy to deal with
@csababartha9497
@csababartha9497 Месяц назад
Thanks so much for the feedback, really appreciate your time to answer my beginner question:) so I would run the positive from the 2nd outlet in the first dual usb panel to the positive line of the next dual usb panel? Not just splicing the two factory positive wires from each panels together with the designated positive that comes from the fuse box, correct? (I’m using 12gauge in all my wiring.)
@GimpyCamper
@GimpyCamper Месяц назад
@@csababartha9497 if they are close just attach all three wires together. If not add quick splice wherever you need it

@LoveYourRV

haha, ya! well I figure if I'm going to the effort of crawling underneath and drilling holes may as well spend a few extra bucks and run a decent gauge of wire. Never know what I may end up connecting to it in the future.

I tried installing the same way, and even tied it into an exterior light, but now the 15 amp fuse that the exterior light is tied to keeps tripping. I can't figure out what is going wrong, any tips?

I dont understand why the water pump is in the living area. I guess I need to go back and see what I missed.
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 2 года назад
My guess is because the 60 gallon fresh water tank is mounted at the tail end of our trailer. So easiest place is to put the water pump directly above it so the draw distance is very short and in the living area so during freezing weather stays warm. Because of those reasons I don't mind it too much.
@MayhemRv
@MayhemRv 2 года назад
@@LoveYourRV ok. That pump must be a lot quieter than mine. It's located in the basement storage area and is still too loud.
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 2 года назад
We boondock a ton so have grown used to the sound. I actually kind of like it because if a water leak happens the pump cycles as it repressurizes and alerts me to a leak problem. For that reason, I often use the pump even if city water is available. Old RV so has old plumbing now. Cheers Ray
