That why you should not let kids have cellphones until they are 16. I remember this 10 year girl sneaking out of her house because she say she was going to go meet justin bieber. It’s so easy for kids to be catfish these days.
I can understand where you're coming from. But back in the 90s my sister and I didn't had cell phones. And my sister would seek out almost every night at the age of 13. You cant stop a kid from doing that. Unless you do what my moms boyfriend did. He nailed our back windows shut so she couldn't open it lol. I did it once with her when I was nine.

Because all the kids hear from parents is talking and warning them and telling them and talking and talking and telling them don't do this don't do that People need to stop talking and get up and show their kids exactly what would and could happen to them. A demonstration is much different than parents just talking.

I used to sneak out when I was young and the fear my mom felt Is something I wish I never put her through, it would leave her devastated and up all night I am so lucky to have survived I am so sorry momm😢 I'm so sorry for the mother who has to survive without her daughter now, People are eVL. But trust me those people are being watched and their day is going to come. I promise.
If she trusted people who encouraged her to sneak out at night that’s a real problem. Shouldn’t trust people who are doing wrong and encouraging you to do the wrong thing. Those people aren’t trustworthy
As a teen, I thought my dad and grandparents were overprotective and crazy. Now that I’m a mom myself, I see how they were trying to protect me. Kids, listen to your parents/grandparents. They truly do have your best interest at heart and want to see you have a good life. They have made more mistakes than you know and learned from them and don’t want to see you go through the same pain they did.
Desensitization is the problem in my opinion. Kids are desensitized to just about everything these days, sadly. And the ability to Google everything doesn't help either.
When I was in 6th grade the police came to school and talked to us about hitchhiking, strangers with candy or looking for their puppy. The police showed us a film about two girls that disappeared and were found by a lake... That scared the hell out of me then and 50yrs later, I still get a knot in my stomach.
i used to sneak out all the time from 11-14. so many creeps tried to pick me up EVERY time. i’d say no but they would slowly roll next to me until i walked the opposite way. i thank the lord nothing ever happened to me. condolences to the family may she rest in peace
It doesn't always have to do with online or phones. I know most of it is do these days. But my sister would seek out almost every night when she was 13. And that was back in the early 90s. If a kid wants to do that you can't stop them. Unless you nail your windows shut lol. That what our mother's boyfriend did to keep her in lol.
She snuck out between 10pm-midnight and was found dead 6-8 hrs later (6:15am). Her parents (single mom, I think she was) probably had no clue she was missing.

IMO social media is the worst thing to ever happen! Even adults are being assaulted & killed because of sexual predators on social media & dating sites! This poor girl was probably lured away from her home by someone masquerading as somebody else! So sad!
That's why our parents tell our kids not to sneak out and ask for permission to leave and don't go out past a certain time because there's weirdos outside at a certain time cuz weirdo's out all day actually and night. Lord have mercy is terrifying

The coroner is the one who tells law enforcement the cause of death. Law enforcement hardly ever tells the public the cause of death. If the coroner saw any injuries on her reproductive system, then the coroner knows it was a sexually motivated homicide.

People think the internet stopped being a bad tool in the 90s, but it's worse than ever and parents are slacking. Letting kids and teens have too much "freedom", or just not caring enough for what they do. This won't stop unless parents care some more.
Assuming it was the typical: She met someone on Snapchat, etc., nothing is being monitored on her phone for protection, he was pretending to be close to her age and he only had evil intentions… This is where Law & Order: SVU and all the other true crime shows comes in handy!!! 😤😤😤

The headline implies she snuck out and died as a result, Then they talk about a killer in the content. no information except she lived in an apartment and no one reported her missing. There is no information here to help us protect our kids and it just makes us scared. Sympathy to the family. It is abhorrent. Groomers use lures . I hope they check phones and her peers and CTV in the vicinity; and get this family justice. It is very sad , and it affects me. I don't know her, but sensitive to these disgusting and monstrous manifestations . I hate it ! Lying awake all night thinking about it . 😢
They wont get away with this. Its too brazen. There is no way an adult convinced a child to sneak out at night without leaving a trail. You will be caught and go to prison forever.
What’s scary is that predators are finding ways to talk w/children in ways that are different than texts. There’s obviously a truly evil predator who’s dangerous to children. Maybe ANONYMOUS can help here.
