They are locksmiths, not unlocksmiths, or lockpicksmiths ;) - seriously though, picking the lock, and letting you replace it, makes them less money than drilling it out and selling you a new (garbage) lock with an markup; picking it also requires skill, you can teach everyone to drill a lock and replace it afterwards, which makes for even cheaper labor, and you can send out minimally trained (cheap) people to do the job

The Schlage B560P is certainly a decent lock. Remember that LPL is a very talented picker, and that pick resistance isn't everything for a lock. You must also consider durability, reliability, and forced entry resistance. For that, the Schlage B560P is far superior than any Kwikset product and certainly is more than a 'decent' lock. If pick resistance and decoding is a major concern, you can always swap the cylinder for something higher security; this is why these deadbolts use KIK cylinders.

Instead of leaving a spare key under the mat, I'll leave this in the planter. I'll know how to use it, but a normal thief won't.

Lol I have my house key code memorized so if I lost my key I can just go a lock.smith say cut 2 4 6 4 2 4 on a kiwiset not the code or type but you get the point its a good thing to know makes life easier some locksmiths won't cut a key that way if they think something is shady and hardware.store usually can only.copy a key

I always thought LPL had been pronouncing Schlage incorrectly ("slayge" instead of the German "schlah-geh"). I just watched the companies's official pronunciation video and even they say it, "slayge". My life is a lie...

So, what if someone took that "visual lockpick" concept, and combined it with the swappable card concept from the cutting machine?
@MrSplic3r

You'd also need swappable front fixed portions to turn the keyway, but I was thinking the same thing

I just bought and received a Lishi KW1. I got all excited pinning up my first practice lock (ABUS 83/40) with tough bitting, security pins, etc. And then I snapped it shut, and suddenly realized that I hadn't pinned it to a key. And it's been in my vise for months. Lotta false sets, but little to no progress. So time to get a cheatyface tool, get it open, and pin it to a key so I can stop being a smoothbrain.

I just paid $150 to pop-a-lock to get my bedroom door unlocked. I saw the technician using this tool as the last solution after he had tried other failed methods. I stood beside him, just to see how he was going to solve the problem. And as a DIY person, I'm going to this tool and will never spend such a ridiculous amount again.
