12v VS 24v Cummins COLD Start

I’d take that 12 valve any day over the 24 valve. Wish I could find me a decent old 94-98 with the 5 speed in it. Man Alive.

If you would step on the fuel a bit then that 12v would start up a lot better

24v for me. i owned one. i loved it

Grandpas is a 24V and honestly I kinda want one. Super beefy and very cheap on the market. Plus I wouldn’t mind if it had some mechanical issues sense I’m learning to be a mechanic and there’s like 5 Cummins parts stores in the county.

The only thing that would make that 24 valve sound better is the turbo whistling after initial start

The high pressure fuel system on the 24v trucks should make em start easier at any given temp, of course mods and miles make a difference in reliable start comparisons

I want a first gen, but I like the sound of a 24v better

I have both and only drawback to the 24v is the vp44, convert it to a p7100 and its golden.

What setup is in the 12 valve exhaust. I love that sound. My 12 valve doesn't sound like that but my uncles does and it sounds so good.

Sounds like first needs someone to check for a suckin fuel line leak because there was air in the system

On the. 24 Valve Cold Start, you skipped the 3 cylinder fast idle.

12 valve sounds better, not by much, but I’d still go with a 24 valve for actual work, more power and slightly more efficient
