For me the SNES, genesis, pc engine and Gamecube, Ps2, xbox,M and DC are the two greatest generations ever! Nothing has come close to this day.

What truly shows that a game a masterpiece? When 20+ years later, you hear the music from that game on youtube. Then you feel nostalgia wash over you. A warm fuzzy feeling with a hint of melancholy. A fond memory and a hint of sadness, knowing that those days are long gone. Chrono Trigger hits me every time.

I don’t think Chrono Trigger is nowhere near as good as FF6. Honestly I don’t think it’s a top ten snes game maybe top 15

@@stevesteve0521 Chrono Trigger improves what FF6 did in every aspect. Chrono Trigger doesn't have the horrible grindy mechanics FF6 has, it doesn't have those awfully constant random encounters, the combat is more fast-paced and the combat system is more streamlined where every encounter testes your knowledge with each character, analizing how enemies move and what's the best option possible, in FF6 you just spam Bum Rush with Sabin and you automatically win, since there's no downside to it. Only half of the characters in FF6 have actual development whereas in CT everyone has their own role in the plot, that twist with Magus makes you decisition on letting him live or not actually hard, in FF6 when Shadow dies you don't care since you know almost nothing about the character (only if you save him, you'll get to know him more). FF6 has a longer storyline, a bigger world with lots of things to discover and more content overall but Chrono Trigger is more enjoyable to play over and over again (thanks to the New Game + feature CT first introduced in videogames), its mechanics have aged way better than FF6 and its just a better game overall. I love both games but if FF6 is one of the best games in the SNES and best JRPGs in the genre, Chrono Trigger is undoubtedly one of the grestest videogames of all time, period.

Ye Chrono Trigger was around 110$ in Norway when i saw it in a game magazine, you needed a hacked snes to play non pal games and that wasnt cheap as far as i remember

Actraiser was just mind blowing, great design,controls and art. Oh and two fully fleshed out games in one. And zombies ate my neighbors,along with cybernator are cult classics of this system.

Other titles for consideration: Demon's Crest, Aladdin, Nosferatu, Blackthorne, Super Off Road, Flashback, Prince of Persia, Saturday Night Slammasters, Gradius III, Spanky's Quest, The Firemen, Super Adventure Island and Super Double Dragon.

A few more: Judge Dredd, True Lies, The Adventures of Batman & Robin (a fantastic Konami game, possibly the best 2D Batman game made), Batman Returns, Mortal Kombat II, X-Men Mutant Apocalypse, TMNT: Tournament Fighters, Secret of Evermore, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Skyblazer. Many of these are "licensed crap" except... they vary from very good to great in quality. The Acclaim games, in particular, may surprise people.

Thanks! And thanks to the time afforded to me by quarantine, I added all the games mentioned in this video, along with more than TWO HUNDRED additional ones on my SNES mini. I'm in 16-bit heaven! Did the same with the Genesis mini, but couldn't find more than 150 good games to add to that.

Pocky & Rocky is one of the most underrated games of all time. It is so whimsical and charming, and was what made me want to know more about Japanese culture. Great to see it in this list! As most people often overlook this gem.

If anyone goes for Mario All*Stars be sure to have the combo with Mario World, Luigi got his own sprites and controls different from Mario in SMW wich is pretty awesome imo

Mortal Kombat 2 was the best port out of all the arcade games, but if you have a PS2 or PS3 you can get the actual arcade version instead which is still better

Front Mission: Gun Hazard is fun, i installed it to my SNES classic based on the recommendation of this video (and also because i was a big fan of Front Mission 4 on the PS2), and it's an amazing game but for some reason the in-gave save doesn't work. im forced to use save states just to save my game on it. which is weird cuz every other game i hacked and programmed onto the console saves just fine how it's meant to :(

I tried F Zero some years back and it really hasn't aged well. I was born in 1990 though so I didn't play it at all around the time it came out, so I don't have any attached nostalgia to it the way I do with other SNES games.

F-Zero is the reason I bought a SNES...way back in the day. It was superb, the sense of speed was tremendous (for the time) and the soundtrack was excellent! Never played Top Gear so can't comment on that.

I recently got a super nes classic and added several of the games mentioned including all 3 of the sports games mentioned. My only tweak to his is that for American football I went with TSB 3: Final Edition because it has trading, free agency, and player creation- things that were absent from the previous games. Also I added NBA Live ‘96 in addition to NBA Jam TE because it has a player creation system where if you enter in the names of legendary players or rookies from that upcoming season(‘95-‘96) it will automatically create them with their stats. For example Bird will give you Larry Bird, Jordan will give you Michael Jordan, and Jabbar will give you Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Front Mission: Gun Hazard was an excellent game & easily deserves a spot in a SNES classic. Another good one I've never seen you cover on the channel (granted I'm kind of new to the channel) is a cute little action platforner named Magical Pop'n. That game is an absolute blast & HIGHLY recommend you check it out.

I’m sad that you didn’t mention The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (other than briefly mentioning the Goemon series) - this is hands down the best SNES game ever created, and I think that reflected by the shock and awe that you exhibited over its greatness during your review of it a while back.

Tryin to play chrono right now, never have. Having trouble with the slow pace of jrps in general, am sad. I used to love these type of games but I might have gotten over it.

I didn't like it either. I hated the real time/turn based combat. Enemies would fidget around and get clustered up, but by the time you got to use an AoE attack they had scattered apart. That and I lost count of how many times I'd put in a command, have an enemy attack, then my command would get carried out. It kind of makes it hard to strategize when the game breaks the rules like that.

Metal Warriors. I feel like people always forget about Metal Warriors lol. Shame I gave it away to a friend when I was younger. It's way out of my budget to buy back.

Great list as usual. Realistically, I think that the shoot-'em-up that would most likely end up on there should Nintendo decide to add more games would be Gradius III, since I think that's the most popular one on the SNES. It's even stranger consider than the NES Gradius was on the NES Classic Edition. Nintendo also adding Pilotwings and SimCity I think would have helped introduce more people to the simulation genre, but I guess they as keen to do so.

Flashback was one of the best games i had ever played. Also wing commander i enjoyed a lot. Pilotwings was my very first game on snes so i got a soft spot for it as well...

You'll want to be careful adding THAT many games...you're not going to have any room left for the save/rewind function! Unless, of course, you've added more room with a USB drive.

Yea I left a buffer of about 15 MB that should be more than efficient for save states.

That's sounds kind of low, I'm not an expert but somewhere I read that those save states can be as big as the rom. But hey I f you added successfully 200, I bet my plan to add 100 will be fine.

5:00 Top Gear was made by Gremlin who is also known for the Lotus series on the Amiga by Magnetic Fields. The intro tune is a the same as the ending tune of Lotus Challenge 2 on the Amiga, while some of the other songs are remixes. So, yeah... I can totally understand.

I'd include Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Duel. A nice fighting game involving giant robots but really is a polished version of MM Power Rangers - The Fighting Game, both published by Bandai. Gundam Wing was never released outside Japan so this game is available english patched.

Since Terranigma was recommended, there's a really awesome patched version someone did that not only put it in NTSC format, it also made it 60fps. If you install retroarch onto your SNES classic, you can run this patched, and superior version, of Terranigma.

Gun hazard is a good game but the original Front Mission is easily my favorite tactical rpg ever. It’s FF tactics but with mechs. A really cool thing about it is that each mechs HP is segmented across body, left arm, right arm, and legs so you can say, take out an enemy mechs arm to disable a dangerous gun. Or you could disable the legs of a melee-based mech and keep it at a distance. Also, please consider Seiken Densetsu 3.

Ohhhh Gun Hazard. I love this game sooooo much that I had a guy on Ebay use one of my Hazard carts to rip the rom, apply the English translation patch and write the game to new chips that were installed into the original cart. That is a bout as legit as you can get!!!!

A couple of points: Space Megaforce is sadly incompatible with the SNES Classic (unfixable audio distortion) and Turtles and Final Fight would be much better swapped out for the far superior arcade versions (which run perfectly)

I own 235 of my original SNES cartridges from my youth. Of the titles I own, 100 are the top rated. I Just don't see the need to buy the SNES classic except for the better than original definition on modern TV's.

PartTimeJedi, Well, it has some great unique save state features, and you'll never have to replace cart batteries, and it's a good plug'n'play solution for ROM translations. Mainly it's for people who don't own at least a few of these games, as the carts and even VCs are more expensive.

Good video, I've got most of these games added to my mini. After losing SNES and games from childhood, it's great at least having this. Can anyone offer any advice on Front Mission Gun Hazard? Started it twice, and both times ended up close to death with no way to repair. I have the upgrade to repair. But no special ammo, and am just stuck. Really like the game too. I'm probably missing something dumb, but help appreciated.
