i was thinking of doing a reading vlog this weekend...but what should i read?! like what would you genuinely want someone to read in a vlog because sometimes i think my reading vlogs are too random lmao

I almost NEVER reread books because there’s just only so much time and so many stories to discover, but for Book Lovers…I will make an exception. Practically perfect in every way.

DUDE, I figured out why your voice is so awesome. At first, I thought it was a southern accent, but that wasn't it. Then I realized that you just have an amazing radio voice. You really pronounce everything, and you have the right level of energy for it. It reminds me of the shows I'd listen to on the drive to school when I was a kid.

House in the cerulean sea by TJ Klune was such a wonderful summery read!!

The Secret Life of Bees is my favourite summer book! It kind of captures the best and worst of summer for me and totally encompasses the season.

Never thought I'd see someone on booktube recommend Peter Heller, but so glad you liked The Guide! The Guide is actually a semi-sequel to his previous novel, The River, which is also a summery thriller (without the pandemic and... other elements), following Jack, the same lead character. It's set during a previous summer when he went kayaking/camping with a friend and things start going very wrong. Would highly recommend reading that first for anyone interested in these books because The Guide does kind of spoil what happens in The River.

Highly recommend the Island of Sea Woman by Lisa See as it takes place in the ocean and near the ocean😅 (and the descriptions of under water are amazing!) Plus it’s historical fiction

One of my favourite reads when I think of Summer is the memoir Reading Lolita in Tehran (its written by an english lit teacher you will love it) - not always fun but I read it one summer and it was so powerful to my life, I think about it alot.

I can recommend "And their children after them", by Nicolas Mathieu - A French coming-of-age novel about the teenage years in rural France, spanning over several summers and going into the paths of life of several different young people. It's very much realistic, it doesn't romanticize any teenage experience. But the vibes are absolutely summery, reading it feels like it's 4 pm and your shirt is sticking to your back, and the air coming in through the window is just as hot as the air inside. Kind of melancholic, bit on the longer side.

The Beach by Alex Garland!! The movie has been and my top five movies of all time for as long as I can remember and I just recently read the book and it was absolutely amazing as well. It's a mood for sure. I definitely recommend listening to The Beach soundtrack while reading it as well. ☀️🌄❤️

I love this topic because I love reading by the pool! I want light hearted funny reads and scary thrillers set in the mountain cabins!!

One Italian Summer is SUCH a good book and should be added to this list. I HIGHLY recommend it.

For historical fiction I would recommend Year of Wonders or People of the Book, both by Geraldine Brooks. Both are engaging and quick reads.

Hey Noelle, if you’re looking for a historical fiction, I recently read “The Venice Sketchbook”. Its a dual timeline story and one timeline is set in Venice around WWII. I thought it was really really good. Easily 5 star for me and read it so fast. It’s not specifically a summer read. Just a good historical fiction.

I read Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins earlier this year and I would def recommend it for summer. A girl and her boyfriend sail on a boat and the whole story is set on a remote island in the South Pacific. It is mystery/thriller but has some good summer imagery!

The Paper Palace by Miranda Crowley Heller is a perfect summer read!! All the warm weather, outdoorsy, campy vibes you could ask for. The story is so lovely and well written 💕

Hi Noelle. As you may know, Julia Whelan is coming out with her own novel this coming August titled Thank You for Listening in which the lead character is a woman who narrates audio books. Also, you may know that she wrote a book which came out in 2018 called My Oxford Year, which is very enjoyable. It's kind of women's fiction/romance.

I love Peter Heller’s writing! I really recommend his book The Dog Stars if you like apocalyptic/survival stories

i know people have mixed opinions on this book but i really recommend "we were liars" the summer vibes are so good and i actually really enjoyed the book overall

I highly suggest Out of Love by Hazel Hayes! It’s a love story told in reverse. Couldn’t put it down!
