The white wolf scene is literally one of the best scenes I've ever seen in a motion picture! I just love everything about it. They make the white wolf so much bigger at first so as to show how powerful the wolf is, then when balto accepts that he is half wolf you can see that he isn't as small in comparison as you would think. The cliff he fell from seems so tall as well. Much taller that it actually is. Everything is exaggerated because it's all from balto's perspective.
@ramathorn1237
@ramathorn1237 9 лет назад
That wolf was built. Balto was shown to be a dog, with the Heart of a Wolf. Ya, I know he's part wolf, but still. If he was the size of that wolf, he wouldn't have been seen so strong when being tossed around by Steel.

This scene blows me away every time. Balto has spent his entire life denying the wolf half of himself. DENYING an entire HALF of himself. In this scene he accepts that is a wolf and a dog. Wild and tame. For the first time, he is whole.

+Joey Fredrickson It impacted me as a kid when I would watch this movie. There are parts of the movie, like this scene the music is from, that inspire me today when I'm writing my own book. "A dog cannot make this journey alone, but maybe... a wolf can." The moment when he was at his lowest point, nearly giving up. But he remembered Horace's words, and Jenna and Rosie. And realized who he really was when the white wolf came along to encourage him on. Sometimes, we all need a guardian in our life to push us forward. And that's ok.

This is one of those musical composition that brings a tear to ones eyes due to the powerful message behind it. I could relate to Balto but in a different way... Being disabled with Autism, I was shunned by a lot of people, especially as a child. However, it was that difference that made me a Special Ed teacher who can understand, teach and do things like no other teacher could. That scene between Balto and the wolf reminded me to accept my disabilities and Autism... to use them to my advantage rather than as a disadvantage. Society loves to shun us all into boxes of weaknesses and inabilities. We all must be like Balto and use that part of us which makes us different to better the world. As the little girl in the movie would say, "Thank you Balto. I would have been lost without you."

When i learned to use Computers and internet properly, i immediately started to search information about Alaska. When i saw photos of the wilderness of the massive region, my heart and very soul was filled with admiration and passion to explore the nature of Alaska. To properly describe it, seeing Alaskan Wilderness is...Astonishing. Amazing. Breath taking. There are no proper words for it, because it honestly cannot be described By words. It's my favorite scene from any cartoon from my childhood.

I wish I watched this movie more often as a kid :( It’s definitely a lot better than I remember. I don’t know why I didn’t like this movie at first. But I will like it now as a teen, this soundtrack is really helping me get through my complicated yet fascinating teen years :) It’s helping me have courage, strength, and hope! Balto is a great movie!!

Noticed an identical melody segment in this piece of music & in the Apollo 13 score. The "white wolf" melody segment (1:30 - 3:00 or thereabouts) is used in the atmospheric re-entry/waiting to hear from the lander bit in Apollo 13. Both films were scored by James Horner, and both star Kevin Bacon.

Balto got me into sleddogs, now I work with 40 amazing sleddogs. Even tough the story of Balto is far from the truth and Togo was the hero, I still love this movie as a fantasy one c:

This one, while I had my first MP3-player 128, helped me climb a local mountain as 14-years-old. I was exhausted, dehydrated, and giving up to the complaints of my nearest friend behind me. Had it not been for this song, playing on repeat in my ears, I would not have climbed to the top with skis going "step-step".

I was just watching Apollo 13 for the first time with my father (I've graduated from college, just never was big into movies and I'm just hanging out with him halfway on my phone) and I heard that leitmotif at 1:28 for the first time in at least a decade. In the interim I'd played concert band for 6 years, so I had learned to recognize them, and I could ever so faintly hear it. It was like a gut punch; I knew exactly where it was from, found this, and damn is it emotional listening to it. I watched that vhs tape so many times.

what i especially love about this whole soundtrack is that it really captures Alaska itself. Beautiful, grand, and dignified but at the same time it can be dangerous and it will test you. Still it isnt impossible to live there, in fact its quite enjoyable :)

"Let me tell you something, Balto. A dog can not make this journey alone.. But maybe... a wolf can..." This is one of the best, top shelf, under-rated cartoons of all time. And this is my favorite music piece... When that Godlike tune hits at 1:29, it's as if Balto felt the inner rage of his wolf DNA, and knew if he did not complete his journey, an innocents life would be lost, and a life of misery would be in his future. What makes me proud, is that this really happened...and that animal had more protective instinct than most humans... Legendary.

A lot of movies now are still as beautiful as this. Raya and the Last Dragon is one, and the Call of the Wild is another. This isn’t a movie, but Netflix’s and BBC’s Watership Down is a beautiful show. But, the majority of kids are more focused on movies like Boss Baby, True and the Rainbow Kingdom, and other things like Baby Shark that they are missing out on these movies that are old but good and even the ones coming out during their childhood. It’s why a lot of kids movies are kind of bad because kids all of a sudden are focused on weird things and things “funny” that they are missing out on so many beautiful things.

@@SheWolf_Warrior Sadly Raya had no score to speak of and resembled a video game cut scene 😞. No heart or soul, just another poorly written paint-by-numbers film. Haven't seen Call of the Wild. I'll have to give that one a go 😁.

@@unefleurdelalune8767 The Call of the Wild is great!! It’s definitely a must-watch! It’s a live-action film with Harrison Ford. It’s such an amazing movie, not gonna say any spoilers, but it’s just awesome!! You didn’t think Raya was good? The only thing disappointing is the dragon, but, in my opinion at least, the story is gripping and fantastic, and the score is wonderful! Like that scene where Sisu was floating in the rain, the soundtrack and the scene itself was so beautiful!! And that scene where it shows how the dragons made the Dragon Gem, omg I have heard the soundtrack a gazillion times and the scene is just gorgeous!!! My opinion at least, I thought the movie wasn’t so bad. Its good qualities were topping off its bad qualities.
