If you guys are having trouble with the haptic feedback, here is what worked for me: I didnt had to change the trackpad, all i had to do was clean the trackpad really well, took out the haptic motor and cleaned the contacts it has down below the copper thing, throw a lot of isopropyl alcohol as a whole.
Omg I tried this and it works! First time when I followed the video it didn’t solve the problem cuz my laptop was really clean inside. I was about to give up but I read your comment and tried again and opened the haptic motor and realised there’s piece of paper stuck, probably when I was trying to clean the trackpad or something from outside . THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Awesome, glad it helped. If you haven't already, please like and subscribe so others can find my videos and possibly consider watching a few others to get the algorithm to recommend my channel. Thanks!
Thank you SO much! After opening my 2020 MBP Intel i5, the keyboard and the trackpad wasn't working, it tuned out that the cable connecting the trackpad was disconnected, and after re attaching the cable it worked flawlessly. Also the original issue was fixed too.
@It's Binh Repaired I don't usually comment on videos but man, you helped me A LOT. My haptic feedback was gone like people comment below. I took it to repair and they tried to trick me, saying that this model i couldn't replace just the trackpad, only the top case, wich was around $900. This video opened my mind, gonna try to fix by my self. I will contribute, thanks so much!
@@thainancaldeira2844 Pretty expensive considering it sounds like they might not have done anything other than say they have to replace the whole top half. Hopefully replacing the trackpad solves the issue. In some cases it could be the battery expanding and pushing against it. Try removing the bottom cover and see if it still has the issue.
@@ItsBinhRepaired Yeah man, Im from Brazil and Apple repair it's pretty expensive and way different from USA, they do everything to take your money... Any way, let's see if i can solve this.
Just coming here to say that i fucking love you man. You really saved me, i just had a small clean up of my pro 2018 and when i closed it both keyboard and trackpad didn’t work, i was crushed. Luckily i found your video and it’s perfect, even better since i cleaned all the dust from the trackpad too. I never comment videos but you deserve it, thanks a lot again, cheers from Italy!
Thank you so much for this video, I really appreciate it and it completely solved my trackpad not clicking. I ended up with one problem afterwards though which I wonder if you could help with? After this repair, the Touch Bar no longer responds to my touch. I don’t really know why, but wonder if you could guide on how to fix this? I tried the usual guides suggesting things like restarting, resetting NVRAM/SMC but worry it might be something from when I opened up the back and fixed this trackpad.
@@ItsBinhRepaired thank you! And definitely no other moving, followed all your directions and was as careful as possible to not touch other things, so good to know that the Touch Bar shouldn’t have been affected. Maybe it’s just a separate problem then 😊
@@ItsBinhRepaired thank you for asking! The trackpad just stopped clicking one day, and I couldn’t figure out why. I think there was some dirt just under the trackpad, so found your video and copied the instructions to open it up and clean inside. The trackpad worked perfectly fine after, all thanks to your instruction. I did find it difficult to remove and reattach the back plate though. Weirdly it’s just the Touch Bar that doesn’t want to recognise any contact after the repair but the trackpad is in top shape.
I recently had my macbook repaired with another 3rd party repair place locally but there's a few issues. When I open my laptop screen, I can hear a pop inside the laptop, as if something inside isn't flush against some other surface. Also, my trackpad does not "click" normally, and it's as if it has one of the 4 corners lifted up (I think). I'm very tempted to follow your video in order to try and fix these issues myself. Are what I mentioned possibly things incorrectly assembled back together within the laptop?
@@ItsBinhRepaired Thank you so much for your video! I ended up adjusting the screws on the trackpad like you showed in this video and the trackpad is back to normal! No more weird clicking sound, and it looks to be straight, whereas before it was sort of dipping on one corner
Yesterday when I tried to use my MacBook Pro 13" 2020, there was an electrostatic discharge (I think it’s called that?) from my finger to the actual trackpad, and now the middle part of it is completely dead. Interestingly enough the left and right side are still working. I’d like to try and replace it, so I wanted to ask, is the replacement process similar to this 2019 model you’ve shown in the video?
Do you have a video for troubleshooting the trackpad and keyboard? My 2019 Macbook Pro the keyboard and trackpad suddenly stopped registering, my OS was still working fine with a bluetooth keyboard.
Hey, your advice was great, trackpad cleaned, but after I had to go back in to put a washer back in things went south. Timestamp 6:12 - that plug the cable goes into, has a latch that comes down. Mine broke off, and one side wall it attaches to came off with it. Now MBP won't run without charger cable, fans overclock, and everything processes very slow and lag. and no battery symbol in menu bar and can't find it in System Preferences. How bad is the damage and can I repair it?? I have no idea what to do about it (not a techy mind). Thanks mate
@@ItsBinhRepaired cheers. as machine has physically lost ability (literally broken part off a part attached to logic board) to retain/use that thin lock down piece, what do you advise?
Awesome! If you haven't already, please like and subscribe so others can find my videos and possibly consider a small contribution to the channel. Thanks!
Hey, have you done the m1 chip MacBook Air 2020 before? For the trackpad? I accidentally spilled some of my drink on it and I wanted to know if the process is any different from this one ?
@@ItsBinhRepaired so I guess the Liquid under my trackpad dried up, because it’s working perfectly fine now (and it’s been 3 days). Do you still think I should get it checked ?
Hello Brother!! I currently have that model of Macbook Pro. My TrackPad works fine, but it doesn't click on the right side and it doesn't click on the left side either; there is no click on the entire trackpad. I have read that the trackpad has coils with a magnet that simulate the user the "click". But in my case, sometimes the click worked and other days it didn't. Do you think I should replace the TrackPad?? By the way, I have already made all the suggestions in the world of Macbook forums, but none have worked for me. Will just cleaning the trackpad do? Do you think if I replace the trackpad it will work?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I already bought the complete TrackPad with flex on eBay, it will arrive in a few days. I bought it as a precaution if it damaged my original trackpad and the flex. The battery looks good, it only has 270 charge cycles. But I haven't removed my original trackpad to check for inflated battery, misalignment, or crums inside.
Great vids! I followed your screen replacement vid and the "other" side of the battery flex cable came off. Now for the life of me I can't figure out how that side re-connects to the motherboard. Any suggestions?
@@ItsBinhRepaired Thanks for the link; it showed me that either 1) I popped the latchie thing completely off and didn't realize it (and can't find it), or, more likely, 2) since my a1989 was a refurb, the latchie thing was missing (when I raised the other end of the battery flex cable after flipping ITS latch, the entire ribbon just sort of raised off). If that's the case, they must have performed magic to make the battery connection on the missing-latch side. Now I have the dilemma: buy a new battery pack, or just forget it!
My MacBook (A2159) doesn’t use have the Haptic Touch anymore, like it feels stuck down but the clicks are working fine and so is the gestures. Do you think I should clean the trackpad and reinstall or buy a new one?
@@ItsBinhRepaired So I opened my MacBook and the battery isn't inflated, and I cleaned out my trackpad and reassembled it, but the issue of the Haptic Touch hasn't gone. It still doesn't work. Do you think it worth getting a new trackpad, because some people are saying its software issue, others are saying it is a hardware issue?
Hello! Today the trackpad on may MBP 13” 2020 (intel) suddenly stopped providing haptic feedback. It doesn’t vibrate anymore. But the force click does work. Everything seems to work as well. I tried resetting the smc, but no success. Is it possible that I need to replace the trackpad or it’s just dirty or hardware problem?
do you use a specific (or could you recommend) a dealer/seller on ebay for the A1989 trackpad, do you buy a “used genuine” or a new generic ? I went to apple becuase haptic feedback is no longer working (randomly just stopped no liquid damage) they said I have to get the trackpad replaced because it’s no longer working cost $589 not including tax to fix.
Holy crap that's expensive af! I just get a used good condition. I don't think there are generic ones. Check the cable connection before buying a replacement. Might be the cable is loose or dirty.
@@ItsBinhRepaired I wish it was dirty, the tech specifically said the “motor” or something that makes the click for the haptic feedback is shot to hell and everything is else is in great condition, he told me that he was surprised to see there was no liquid damage anywhere or dirty inside of the laptop. I was on ebay earlier and saw that there are multiple sellers marking theres as unbranded around $25-60 (lower end w/o cable, high w/ cable), and the used ones w/cable are around $35-40 does that sound about right to you?
@@mexican31998 sounds about right. Not sure if the cable is bad, but I usually get the cable just in case depending how soon you need it fixed. It clicks, just doesn't vibrate?
@@ItsBinhRepaired no click sound or anything, I thought there was something jammed all the guy said was that the motor or actuator, I can’t remember exactly, was no longer working.
@@mexican31998 I mean, does it work just fine, just no vibration/click feeling? The motor is just a rumble and doesn't stop the trackpad from being used like normal. It just doesn't have the physical feedback.
Do you plan to do this often or just once in a while? There are expensive high quality sets and cheaper ones that will get the job done but might not be as good if you plan to do it for a living.
@@ItsBinhRepaired The kit worked great! I fixed my water damaged track pad. The only thing that went wrong was that I have a different model of macbook where you can't remove the back case using the screw holes (you cant get under the case through them) so I botched my threads a bit with the screwdriver. And being a rookie mistakenly tried to force the screws in and stripped my pentalobe 1.2 screw bit. I cant find where to get single bits instead of getting a whole set, I'd like to just replace the one. Any ideas?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I haven’t actually I am kinda scared that I’ll damage other things inside my Mac I am using a cheap external wireless mouse bcoz I can’t use my trackpad I saw some other videos and I find it really intimidating a lot o things to go thru before I can even actually replace the thing
Uh oh! Followed the steps because trackpad was working only intermittently. All cables looked good but i cleaned everything as shown. All cables seemed to be reseated well, but trackpad no longer works at all!! What to do??
@@ItsBinhRepaired I just opened it up again and made sure the trackpad and motherboard side of the cable were securely in place, but there's still no response from the trackpad. Should I just go ahead and order a new one?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I was not replacing anything. The trackpad was not working very well (not picking up all gestures, phantom clicks), so the goal was just to clean off the connectors. I spilled plain water on it about 3 weeks ago.
