When you have private companies managing public utilities, this is what happens. Their main priority is increasing shareholder profits, this is why every year their profits increase, and they brag about it.
It is like us tax payers complaining about anything meanwhile the upper echelon saying to us “stop crybaby around be grateful that we even have a running all mighty civilization and other great services while all of us are suffering full of criticism, be civilized you commoners scum” we see them as clown filling on their pockets before during (the storm) and after the damages they are making deals contract more payrolls in their pockets while enjoying our suffering even having the damn audacity to razing prices in all fronts in basic necessities. they from above screaming “outlandish accusations pagans”
Houston has over 28,000 miles of distribution lines, at a cost of 600,000 to $1 million a mile to bury powerlines that’s 16.8 Billion to 28 Billion dollars lol it will never happen
So I guess you want your power to go out ?? I can’t get on the same page as you Texans, y’all want nothing changed yet complain about everything. Soon you guys will be just like California. It’s not out of state people taking over but EVOLUTION! Yikes y’all so annoying. Probably all that Dr Pepper getting to y’all 😂
The soil is so acidic that the power lines would corrode quickly. Add to that constantly shifting ground and a financially broke city, that's not going to happen.
Fact is failures by CenterPoint is clearly rooted in management and oversight of Company. No matter what excuse they use they haven't done a good job in operating the company. It's not like these storms and weather conditions are new this area. Money and resource haven't been spent to make system able to handle these storms and conditions. It's not like they haven't had time to prepare. Over last 15 years they use same old talk about making improvements and along comes another storm and we have same failures and so called improvements, yet same failures in same areas. How is that possible?
You already give me the answer, it is ingenious but also not new. For example In the US on the military after knowing those who created programs that had failed even before the start of the validation of the success of that project those thief even from with in the government (same pals boyfriends) help each other by saying “oh it fail, we need funding” the other ask “how” the other responds “by making this program a vital for national security”…. Etc or by making excuses making things out such as oh Russia is the enemy in reality is not. Now with this case about the weather. Oh we need more money more funding because of aging infrastructure it is vital for weather national security. Sounds familiar! 🤣 those clown now what are good for them getting funding by putting Chinese build products.
Just like on the military after knowing the failures of the F-35 programs (true a marvel of technology but not meeting the requirements for real solutions and issues for o economic (quality but not explosive) purposes of national defense) when something is not enough because of failures or hiding to steal the money behind a project or plan they use that excuse to steal more money. Sad 😢
Im very disappointed, the Spring area always is without power for several days after every storm…. We are still without power now!!! This is very frustrating
The people of Texas need to stand against their government and demand changes to the power infrastructure… time and time again it can’t handle anything. Praying for yall from Ohio.
That is for the civilized pagans money talks the rich and powerful only meet on the dame category. They won’t see pagan filthying on their gorgeous red carpet in their offices unless you make them money or see you making money for them.
If CP just said Mon afternoon, "we apologize, we didn't expect the storm to hit these Houston counties this hard, it will take a week to get power back for everyone, in the meantime we are providing cash assistance for food, hand out bottled water at these locations, and we are coordinating with locals officials to ensure everyone that needs or wants a cooling shelter will have access", then I'd be like ok, i get it. But they have said already many time that they prepared properly. Please CP, stop lying. You aren't the GOP.
Up here in MN, the utility company forced digital meters on everyone in our community (an impoverished trailer park) against our consent and now they're forcing their way inside every home to re-light things after replacing gas lines. Since they are notorious for not doing repair work, I suspect there are ulterior motives. Spying and surveillance being one of them and possibly a repeat of Lahaina being another one. My husband, sister, daughter and I want to move but house-hunting has been so damn discouraging.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Get ready to get bent over. Digital meters in Houston have led to the water company overcharging customers by the thousands and the electric company knowing how much you owe in bills, but not knowing if your power is out.
Those "digital" meters are part of a system that enables them to read usage remotely instead of routing workers to read all the meters manually. It is also a great tool to diagnose/identify outages which further saves time and effort.
@@frankt5987 oh yeah, I'm grateful to have a roof over my head for sure. I also have a right to be angry at their illegal and unconstitutional activities. You should be very concerned about this since our country's security is at stake!
Gas station, groceries and restaurants get restoration and have gas given so we can get to work until recovery is finished. We have to eat and pay our bill while getting to work to serve the first responder. People really look at the whole picture.
If my kid dies centerpoint is going to feel it whether it be gunshots or lawsuits. This is ridiculous third world state of texas. Just called centerpoint and they said there’s nothing they can do I should go to the store wtf 😳
Wow! You actually got a person to pick up? Geez! I called Centerpoint and was on hold for literally like an hour! The lady said that they are aware that their outage maps might have some inaccuracies. I think Centerpoint is underreporting the numbers. We aren’t shaded on the map, but me and all my neighbors haven’t had power either!
Underground power lines is the best option, they are testing other crap that can handle CAT1 hurricanes. Lol UNDERGROUND POWER LINES WITH RAISED PADS TO AVOID FLOODING that’s the best option. It Will cost 20% higher but worth to get it done properly once and done. 🤚 Master Electrician.
Just to be clear what they are talking about - Those transmission lines are not what you see downed in cities and suburbs. The majority of damage after storms are the secondary overhead systems and the real time consumer in getting restored. You have no idea what the real costs would be to actually impact a difference and yes, that cost would be borne by consumers.
Center Point yearly revenue Is in the billions But yet they want a government grant which is taxpayer money which is corporate welfare, and all the while those running the company continue to be Incapable at doing their basic job
I nearly died when power grid failed in 2021 winter Abbott and his cronies could care less. And he pulling a Ted cruz out of the country He will have a set amt of lies like ol Trumpy when he gets back. These politicians make me vomit. And they don't care except to enrich themselves.
Its terrible!!!!we have past Hurricanes that hit Houston, Center Point still didn’t learn? I HAVE MEDICATION THAT NEEDS REFRIGERATION!!!PUT THE POWER BACK ON!!!
WE have elected people to run this city they are responsible for making sure power companies are ready centerpoint doesnt run Houston they are getting all the blame
Here's a thought, maybe be sure you have enough ice to keep your meds at the correct temperature? Ice is a huge component of your storm prep. Set yourself up with a plan that works for you. Buy a decent cooler for starters and buy a cooler bigger than you think you will need so you can buy ice BEFORE the storm hits so you're ready when you do lose power. A little forethought will go a long way in helping you plan for these things. You live in hurricane country my friend, be prepared to take care of yourself for at least 3-5 days if not longer. Understand hurricane prep or move to a place that is less prone to them. Those are really your only choices. I'm not being snarky, it's a fact of life in hurricane country.
@@sjferguson Thank you for your kind reminders. I learned a lesson after Ike messed up our house. After that I invest on a decent Generator and at the start of Hurricane season I have supplies that I dont need to rush or do panic buying including gas. Unfortunately I’m out of the country during the storm and up to now. Luckily my neighbor said ( as confirmed by my remote security camera monitors) no power until now. So I’m so concerned about my medication that needs refrigeration. Thanks again.
@@GenoFamYT being out of town during this must be stressful indeed! I hope your meds are ok. I wonder if your insurance will help you replace what might be lost. You know, that's a really good point. I'm going to have to have a look at my prescription plan to see what measures they might be willing to make for people in this situation.
You spend 1.46 billion and it was a swing and miss did absolutely nothing and now they want another 1.46 😂GET THESE PPL OUT OF TEXAS PLEASE !?!!! If I can’t do my job was a person lawd
i know everyone is frustrated...but how is centerpoint responsible for overgrown trees that fall on powerlines that originated from the interior of the easment and is the domain of the homeowners care. This problem is a major cause of the outages.
