She is 13 and has the most beautiful voice. Following this piece she did The Flower Duet and later in the concert sung Amazing Grace. She won Hollands Got Talent, at the age of 9. In it she did O Mio Babbino Caro, Ave Maria, and Nessun Dorma. All worth a listen.
You should have heard her sing this same song to win the final of Holland's Got Talent in 2013 ...aged 9... having taught herself to sing opera arias from RU-vid. I recommend you react to her audition video for Holland's Got Talent.. no one had ever heard of her.. she sang O Mio Babino Caro.. totally in control and calm onstage.. I forget how many millions of views it got the following day! If you do react to her audition, well worth it... choose the version 'for English speakers' so you have the subtitles. Amira will be 19 in March. She just finished high school and has taken a year off to travel and perform before starting university in South Africa where she now lives. South Africa is her mother's home country. Her father is from the Netherlands.

Amira was 13 in this performance. Yes, She is Amazing. She was self thaught when she auditioned at HGT. She got my heart with the 3 performances she did at that show. She is 18 Now, so you could do man y reactions more to her.

I have never heard any soprano sung "Nessun Dorma" before. It's nice to hear. I love to hear her singing "O Sio Mio". My favourite version of "Nessun Dorma" is from Mr Franco Corelli.

@@LydellC Nessun Dorma comes from the opera Turandot. Franco Corelli performed this role around 200 times, he was great in this role and aria. Pavarotti only performed the role once on stage. Pavarotti is a great lyric tenor, but this role was actually meant for a dramatic tenor. It is suppose to be very powerful and over confident. Pavarotti does a fine job and he really brough the aria to the masses, but Franco Corelli had a real powerhouse voice. The general public only knows about Pavarotti or Domingo, but in opera circles no one disputes the fact that Franco Corelli was the master of this type of material. Pavarotti's real signature role or aria is La Boheme, he is amazing and really delicate and flexible, it suits his voice perfectly. Nessun Dorma is meant for a very strong masculine or heroic tenor voice. There are few of Franco Corelli's Nessun Dorma's on youtube, but don't pick the 1.3 million one, it has very badly distorted sound, the others have good sound.
I can recommend Franco Corelli - Nessun Dorma (Turandot) 1966 live Met. He is also the only singer that I ever hear who sings the "splendra" in diminuendo, as it was written in the original score. Everyone else just ignores it.
Yeah, she was 13 at this concert - Classics is Groot 2017. She won the Hollands got talent competition in 2013, at age 9, singing Nessun Dorma in the finals. So she'd sung it a few times by this point. In the same concert she sang the opera aria The Flower Duet, with another singer - Corlea Botha, then delivered a stunning version of Amazing Grace. All are available on you tube, + many others, all worth listening to. I like your Freddie Mercury remark. It makes you think, if they'd got together at some point....

Yes, Amira's poise and posture are excellent! And it's hard enough to sing opera standing still -- but to sing opera while walking is absolutely impressive. She is a stunning vocalist and angelic human being.

It is is nice performance, and it is good to see sing a young singer tackling this repertoire, I hope to see more of her in the future. Nessun Dorma became a very popular aria, because it is so victorious and powerful. However, most people who sing this aria don't have the right voice for it, even Pavarotti did not have the right voice for this aria. This aria is suppose to be sung by a very powerful tenor voice. The best example is Franco Corelli who played this role live on stage many times, Mario Del Monaco is also great. A great version is Franco Corelli - Nessun Dorma (Turandot) 1966 live Met.
