Awesome as usual sir! It’s just amazing watching you use your creativity to make things! Anyway keep these videos coming, cause I love to watch them! Know what I’m saying? 😂
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ru-vid.comUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
Totally agree with Dan 👌👍. As I myself make 90% of my floats. I'm on a low income 🙁. I made a couple of floats, using widgets. That come out of Guesses beer cans. Be4 you insert the staw. Injected some crazy glue, then some split shot. Let it set up, then insert your thin staw. Sell it up & paint it 👍 , different colours top& tail. Wrks awesome 😀 for trout fishing, on a ultra light spinning rod . Wet or dry fly , as the weight in the float get you the distance.
Well, you done it again Keith, you gotcha another mess of good hacks. Appreciate you putting this stuff together for us. I've told a bunch of people about your stuff. When I'm around folks and get to discussing fishing, I'll rattle off a bunch of your hacks, and they think I'm brilliant ( but then they remembered who they was talking to ) so I make sure and tell them about your channel. I sure hope yall are enjoying this crazy weather this year better than we are in North Central Texas. Anyway, get busy and think up more stuff for another video. God bless you and your family. Ya'll stay safe and we'll see ya later buddy.
I've been using wine cork floats since I was a child. They're cheap and work well. Sometimes I fish places where the fish get spooked easily and using a float can put them off, so I use a small stick found on the bank and put 2 half-hitches of line around the stick at my desired length. As the fish are used to small sticks and leaves falling into the water they aren't as easily spooked. After a while you'll need to replace the stick when it becomes water-logged. Using a ballon for a float, we could get baits out ridiculous distances if the wind was behind us. You can also put burley in the balloon before you inflate it. Then pop the balloon with a slingshot and dump feed all over the spot your float is. Now there are laws here against using this method as popping the balloons is considered littering, so we sometimes use helium balloons to carry baits out on a second line clipped to the first. When the bait gets where you need it, then you give a tug on your main line and the balloon detaches. You then just pull the balloon back in to use again. This works very well in saltwater and allows us to fish for tuna and mackerel without needing an off-shore capable boat. I've also used empty drink bottles of different sizes as floats for large baits. Again, just attach them to your line with 2 half-hitches at the length you want and away you go. YOu can also use the secondary line with snap clip release. This is good because fighting the drag of a large float can be a pain in the butt and add extra stress to your line when fighting a big fish.
I use bobbers all the time for crappie and catfish so these hacks are even more awesome than the usual hacks to me!!!!! I love your content and keep the fishing hacks coming!!!!!!!
drilling holes thru chunks of sticks for a more natural looking bobber. In the early 70s I ordered a bobber that had a hook setting center part, my dad and brothers never figured out why I caught more than they did but plastic worms melted it after a few years.
That's crazy because hack number 4, using the mini glow sticks in the top of my small slip corks at night is something I've been doing myself for about 3 yrs now. Never seen or heard of anybody else doing it until your video tonight. On the tall slip corks( ones designed to lay on their side), I tape the mini glow stick to the top of the cork with a small piece of clear packing tape for night fishing. I tear off the tape when done and never have to change my cork for day or night.
I don't know if any other brand makes them but instead of smashing egg sinkers, Danielson sells lead weight wraps. Flat strips of lead that you wrap around your line. Very nice for reducing snags and should work great for wrapping around bobber. Look for them in the fly fishing section but not all stores carry them so you may have to order online.
Mini glowstick inside the drinking straw. At the float or on the rod, cool addition for night fishing. Match the float and rod colors for multiple rod use.
Super cool hacks, Keith! I love pan fishing, so may have to try the finesse straw float. Thanks for the time and effort I know you put into your videos!.
Awesome hacks!!! Thank you!!! Incredible ideas!!! Always love the "Grinning Cranky!!!" Love your videos! I pray you get plenty of family & fishin time!!! Don't work to hard!!!
had to buy me a new set of bobbers and seen there were some thills that were weightless, i didnt realize it until i got home because i picked them up for how cheap they were, well, from the old bobbers i had when they were in my trunk over the summer, i found that i could use the weights from those and used the same o-ring to be used as a stopper for the weights on the new bobs. if you got a ridgeless stem on your bobber, use an o-ring to keep that weight from movin!
Mr.Fish nStuff,it was brutal watching you beat and trim and trim and beat that piece of lead to put on you bobber. They have lead tape on a roll. Ask any golfer where to get it.JUST SAYING. Keep up the fun
I use the big glow sticks in my clear jug lines at night and then fish off the bank with my rod and reels on windy nights, of course taking the boat to retrieve the juglines when they go down
Weighted bobbers... Install it weight up when a fish is toying with the bait it will make the bobber rock, when they bite it will completely roll-over just before going under.
Many years ago, I learned the 'zip lock' lesson while in the Marines. If you are going to carry stuff that's easily water-damaged, just put it in a ziplock bag (socks, snacks, whatever)...it not only will float when in your backpack, and is re-usable, but in a time 'before river bags', it was THE way to make sure everything meant to stay dry, stayed dry. Same idea with 'drinking straws'...you can buy them in bulk, by the hundreds or even thousands...and in different diameters (like, for thick milkshakes...3/8 to 1/2 inch in ID). Seal one end of a straw with a pair of needlenose and a lighter. Cut to length plus a little bit, now you have a 'mini-dry bag'...GREAT for matches, note paper and a little pencil, band-aid protector, Goodies (headache powders), Coleman lanterns...easy and versatile. Remember to seal the top-end before you're done. If you leave one end open, put in a cotton ball, put hunting scent on it, and leave the top end packed but open, you also have a TERRIFIC deer drag for scent camouflage!
Laughing again K 😆 one I don't know if you use. But here in New Zealand I've often used a regular golf ball for a sinker on a surfcaster with a rocky bottom, just screw a curtain eye ( loop with a threaded end ) into the golf ball. It sinks but it's light and you can launch it good with a 10 /12" rod and it bounces back very well without getting fouled,,,, often 😉 I like em .
On Monday it was 55 sunny warm and no ice. Today in New Hampshire the WIND is up to 55 and we have almost 6 inches of snow on the ground 😢 please I just wanna go fishing again. Nice video boss.
Wine corks are what they used to use before all these fancy smancy floats and bobbers were thought of. Way back before there was such a thing as reels, they used cane poles or even cut a limb that was strong yet flexible and would tie a "cork" on their line at the distance from the hook that they wanted to fish in depth.
Some of the largest Pike and Muskie that get is on a large on a large cigar float with a Titanium leader and a trib hook fish it like a Zara Spook at night . I do #3 take the drill in long ways in the side and seal with silicone use the smaller ones for Pompano and Crappie . Your #13 I do the same with welding rod stub 3 to 4 inch long you can pop a Crappie right out brush pile he is in the box before he can flip
If ya lookin to drag a big ol mud cat off the bottom you can modify bout near every one of these hacks to work with a 20oz. plastic drink bottle, I even put a capful of water in them so they'll stand up straight. But yeah, the rattles, glowstix or anything else ya wanna stick in there works great on Trott lines too!
Hi Keith, I liked the video. Good stuff. Not sure if you've seen this stuff, but it's Lead Tape. Golfers use it, I'm not, nor will I ever be a golfer. I use it on some of my saltwater lures that "float", to get them to almost suspend. Your hammering of a egg sinker was hard to watch, poor sinker. Anyhow, this stuff is cut to length, with a adhesive backing. I put a dab of superglue on too. Happy hacking !
I use artificial wine corks. When I was touring Duplin winery the tour guide asked why they used artificial corks. I told him that cork was being harvested sooner and it was causing porous corks and skunked wine. The guide was impressed so he asked what brand of artificial corks they used. My brother answered Normacork. The guide was floored and he asked how could my brother possibly know that? It's written on that box right there he answered.
See one thing I started using awhile ago is tic tac containers I take them and put the snell rigs that you buy from the store or even ones that you make at home and put them through the hole the tic tacs come out of and it makes it nice you can pull one or two or all of them put at once
I use the red and white bobbers for slip bobbers. Just cut the wire and toss the spring wire and push button away. Then put a slip knot on your line and then your line through the bobber that way you can set the depth of your bait.
Here is a hack that I used as a teenager back in the last century. This is for fishing from the Fort Worth FL pier -- I don't know if it is still here -- and only when you have a cold front out of the west. You need a cold wind that keeps the seas rough, the air cold, and boats off the water. It has to blow west to east because you need a brisk wind to do the work. I used a full size garbage bag to blow a bait out to the sewage outfall, which was directly east of the pier. All manner of bait fish used to congregate there because the outfall fertilized the area and there was a lot of plankton. Or so I as told. Fill a 35 gallon or so garbage bag with air which aint hard to do. Just open it up and the wind will do the rest. When it is filled, tie it off with some 10 pound mono or so so the air does not escape. Tie an overhand knot in the middle and the other end to a snap swivel. Now clip that snap swivel to your leader swivel and use the garbage bag to push your bait out toward the outfall pipe. I used a Penn 68 with a lot of hundreds of yards of line on it because thats what I had back in the day. For bait, some kind of jack works best, like a rainbow runner or a blue runner. I used 9/0 O-Shaughnessy hooks (eagle claw 954SS if I remember correctly, the only circle hooks were used by Japanese long line fishermen in the Pacific) with a wire trace, minimum of #9 wire, #12 is best, with 12 ft of heavy mono leader. Now that was a lot of stretchy mono because we didn't have any braid and Dacron was too expensive, in case a boat rode over your line. The garbage bag would keep the line stretched and when you got a hook up, you could see the bag boogey acrost the surface before the clicker started screamin. Anyways, I did get some good hits and one guy said I had a sailfish jumpin but I never did land a fish with the stretchy mono. Maybe someone can try this out with new reels/lines/leaders/circle hooks and a kite rather than a garbage bag. Just sayin,
This is one of two Fishing Video channels where I take a pencil and pen and take notes. This is an excellent channel with great ideas. Keep up the great work...' just saying...uh, know what I'm sayin
U can also get *glow in the dark* paint and paint ur cork or balsa wood floats then add ur sealant then just charge them in a cooler on the way to the water and they will glow all 🌙
