Wow, spending over 14 hours in van with 4 kids, 2 adults and a puppy, can be quite the adventure. This was now the triplets longest road trip they have ever taken, since it was longer than the California drive. Traveling with 4 kids 2 and under isn't easy, and there was a new obstacle: Gemma was now potty trained. Which now meant that whenever she would say she had to go to the bathroom, we immediately would pull over quick on the side of the road to let her go, to avoid any accidents. We finally got to Oregon, and the babies got to play with Grandma Bonnie and Papa Chuck. The14+ hour drive was pretty rough, and we got there at 5:30am super super tired. Bonnie took over the kids, and let Cara and I take a much needed long nap, slash going to bed actually. The next day was raining a little bit, but that didn't stop us. We headed to the beach for the dirtiest beach trip ever! We realized that once we weren't going to keep them clean and on the sand blanket, we just let them be babies, and enjoy themselves. They got super super dirty. And maybe ate some more sand. Especially Wren. It seems to be her new favorite meal. A little sand don't hurt nobody though. As the triplets and Gemma, and Pia were running around, screaming with joy and just getting dirty and smiling, I realized that sometimes you just have to let go of the small things, like worrying about sand, and the babies getting filthy, and just let them enjoy themselves. The memories of the day and huge smiles and laughs, far outweigh the dirtiness or the mess that we are going to have to clean up, especially the van afterwards. That is one thing Cara is amazing at. Staying calm and collected. She rarely lets the small things like this get to her, and it allows her to be the best mom to the triplets as possible and save her energy for the important stuff, and not worry about dirty clothes or sand all over their faces. It was an epic day, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the trip holds for our family.
