same here but I think the refurbished M1 Pro allows for 16GB and 1TB at the same price I think still undecided

@@xtudy5611 just got a brand new 14in m1 pro from best buy with 16 gb ram and 1tb storage for the same price as a base m2 pro. the same spec m2 pro is 500+ more and it’s barely any better. highly recommend m1 especially with 1tb storage

@@eunoiamoment I use 256 GB. Standard model but it is complete enough for me. I would suggest you to buy an extern SSD :) instead of upgrade

@@eunoiamoment doesn't really make a big difference in the M1 Pro/Max models. Only the M2 Pro/Max suffered from only 1 SSD chips instead of 2 making it half as slow as the ones in the M1 Pro/Max.

I had the same doubt too. It depends on how you use it and what programs you use. I was coming from an intel 2017, so I had to choose between m1 pro and m2 pro. I found the NEW base M2 pro for €200 more than the refurbished m1 pro and I bought the latest model. I was initially influenced by the various negative reviews, then i realized that which made no sense to me. The slower SSD compared to the previous model is not a tragedy, both because it is still very fast and responsive, and because the faster speed of the previous model would ONLY be noticed if you transferring a very huge amounts of data to an external SSD (or from an external SSD) that was faster than the internal SSD... which NEVER happens! On the other hand, performances has definitely improved. I did a final cut export test using m1 pro 14" 10 core and m2 14" 10 core. One hour and 36 minutes of video, 4K prores: masks and various effects applied. Export completed about 40 minutes with m1 pro (very good result) and 26 minutes with m2 pro (amazing result)! Honestly, I don't know why this difference, but it is. Maybe even better render times. For me nothing else is needed, and I have a new Mac with latest generation chips, which will be updated for longer.

M1 pro easy, the Airs don't have enough ram for video editing and multitasking. Plus the Pro's have better screens for color accuracy, start at 16gbs of ram, have the better speakers, plus 120hz pro motion display

M1 pro is discontinued. Is it a wise option to go for a refurbished one?

@@LeoL123 I wouldn’t worry about that tbh. With 16gbs of ram you likely aren’t going to run into swapping. Plus unless you’re saving locally and move large amounts of data regularly (like TBs every single day indefinitely) ssd failure isn’t something I worry about at all. I have 11.25 TB of ssd storage on my desktop and it’s not something I even consider

@@westsiderandom Yes refurbished units are Like New and save you a lot of money. I buy almost all my electronics refurbished now
