Hi Renee, my hair colour went from Strawberry blonde to suddenly starting to darken when I was mid twenties, after humming and haaing a while I took the plunge to colour it so I was more like myself. A couple of years back I suddenly became allergic to the dye. So...now 52 on July 11th I have what I call mousy brown...but..I can see the strands of red which I love ❤️ and the odd white one 😂 and yes... staying exactly like I am 🌟 So...good on you Renee ❤

I decided to stop coloring my hair because I don't want anything to do with chemicals in anything anymore, my hair was falling out by the handfuls when I washed it. It's already so much fuller now. And I wanted to see what it looks like naturally. I want to be my authentic self. Constant salon appts were stressing me out too. I'm 55 and grew mine out 3 inches so far and it's not as grey as I thought it would be. I'm actually Loving all the different colors and highlights I missed seeing in my younger years that hair dyes just can't mimic. I completely understand you . Thanks for your inspiration ❤

Getting rid of the chemicals was my main motive to stop coloring. It was not easy to see the gray at first, but once my hair grew out I got beautiful white highlights. Also get a lot of complements 😊

Getting rid of the chemicals was HUGE for me! The itching, headaches, and brain fog were miserable. And getting started on the grow out process is a challenge...and I'm so glad you got through it. Best wishes! 💗

9 months into my grey hair transformation and loving every moment. I expect my shoulder length hair will take two years as well. I agree with every single point you made. In addition I can feel my new grey hair is healthier and I’m getting lots of new hairs filling in spots that were thin in the past. And I’m astounded at how many people compliment my hair even at this stage. I’m excited for the final result! It is a great lesson in patience and giving yourself grace to embrace your true self. ❤

I absolutely love you curly gray hair . As soon as I found out my daughter was pregnant, I did two things taught myself how to crochet 🧶 , and I stopped dying my very dark brown long hair . I was born with naturally wavy/ curly hair but growing up no one knew how to care for it so I did keratin treatments Brazilian treatments flat ironed blew dry. I found an amazing product and learned techniques and I’m in love with my new found gray curls . However as mush as I loved my long gray hair, at least 7 inches or so was stringy so I decided to cut it short and mama Mia what curls very much like your hair texture Renee . mine is thick course , and frizzy I am 63 yrs young and look younger now with gray hair then my Dk brown hair. And boy do I get compliments . This past Christmas season I was at Christmas tree shop I wore a red fringed cowl neck poncho . And believe me uou wear red and you get stared at lol anyway a gentleman turns and says to me I looked like a woman right out of a hallmark Christmas movie lololol I just smiled and said thank you kindly 🌻🌻🌻

Renee, I’m proud of you too! It takes a lot of nerve to go completely gray at your age. I’m total gray now after watching your transition. My last color was Feb. 1,2022. I have short hair so it didn’t take long to grow out! It is freeing and I get compliments too since mine has a lot of white on the sides and front. I had been thinking of letting my silvers shine but was hesitant. Then my Dad passed away. He had amazing hair his whole life. Dark in his youth and as he aged he never covered it. I guess most men don't but i look back over pics and it is wonderful to see his hair change. Bits of silver at first then areas filling in. His hair was so beautiful. Bright. I remember thinking how he had never seen my true hair color that was so similar in color and pattern to his 😢. All he saw was my real color as a child and then the color it took on as a teen spraying on sun in or making it this or that color. Then as an adult covering it to a flat dark brown almost charcoal "dust" appearance or sometimes a reddish brown as it would wear off. No depth really. It just hit me hard that he hadnt seen my hair but i had such similar hair to his. Texture, thickness, color. It should look similar to his but it looked very opposite. And why? After he passed away I covered them a couple more times but then finally ditched it. I feel so free now. My silvers shine and I can't wait until it is fully grown out. I have curly hair as well and I'm only 49 so I also spent so much of my life fighting my hair because curls were a big no. I stopped straightening it many years ago and wish i would've stopped the color then or never even started. I think aging is so often looked at as life being over but for me it has been when I've learned the most about myself beyond appearance. I turn 50 this year and this is the birthday I look forward to the most. It will be the first one I mark that I truly experience with no negative feelings about my appearance and it is not at all what "society" would consider ideal. I love your channel and that you encourage others to embrace the beauty within and let it simply flow outward. That is a beauty no cream or procedure will ever provide ❤

Hi Renee! I too have shoulder length curly gray hair and LOVE it. My natural color as an adult was a mousy light brown, but now with silver streaking the rest it looks blonde! Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't compliment me on my hair. No one ever complimented me on the mousy light brown, and my color now flatters my skin tone like never before! I hardly need make-up! Like you, I would recommend that anyone who's tempted to go natural--DO IT!

I was amazed how much more confident I felt when I stopped colouring my hair. Being able to just be myself as I am and not having to hide a natural part of me has done wonders for my self esteem. Also not buying into the pressure anymore to say l stay young. Wich is impossible anyway. What a relief. I stopped colouring my hair at 39 because I was just sick of it. Had been colouring for about 15 years at that point. I recognise so much of what you are saying ❤️

I’ve had gray hair for about 10 years now. It is long with some curl/ body. I can wear it straight or with curl. I have broken the rules by letting it grow long with many layers. I like being myself and not being someone I’m not. Like you, I get compliments often from older/ younger folks. I love it when a younger person comes up and says you are rocking that gray hair. I prayed for pretty gray hair when I decided to go gray. I felt bad asking the good Lord for pretty gray hair because there is so much more important things to ask for. Now when I get compliments I credit Emmy Lou Harris for inspiration and God for the gift. I wish more women could find the confidence to be themselves.

I had early gray, I colored it from age 35 to 55, and then I decided that was enough, I was done. Like you, I didn't know exactly what it would look like, but decided I wanted to see what it would be. I love the color! It's almost all white, very little dark gray except at the nape of my neck. Many strands are translucent and therefore sparkle , and I was thrilled with the color. My hair feels silkier without the chemicals, and my reasons are all the same as yours, including the frequent complements compared to none before, but minus the migraines and itching. Dark color dye has the worse chemicals, and I was having to go darker and darker due to color resistance, the darker color did not look right with my skin, nor was it my natural color anymore, and I was concerned about the chemicals. So I was done, no looking back, no regrets, and I love it. Now, my growing out story was a nightmare. After about 2 inches of growth (the skunk stripe) I became impatient and decided to try color remover at home. I thought the worst it would do was only fade the color, but no, instead it turned my hair the color of a manilla envelope! I went to the salon and asked her to cut off the orange, and she said she couldn't get all the orange off, because it would be too short. So I had white on top with orange ends, and it was VERY short. So that was a tough time until the rest of the orange could be trimmed off, and then more time to get some length. So now I tell people to plan ahead to make it easier, switch to semi-permanent color for a while before you stop coloring, and I think you'll have an easier transition.

Excellent video 👩🏻‍🦳🌷 just before covid I dyed my hair for the last time, my scalp was burning, had sores and irritation, so I decided to stop colouring my hair cold turkey. Now I am completely silver and I love my three tone silver hair and trying to figure out my wavy/curly hair to prevent heat damage. I use purple shampoo, conditioner and mask about twice a month, it brightens my hair and I love it 💜 it is a long process if you have longer hair but so worth it in the end, yeah no more chemicals on my scalp. I started growing out my gray hair two years ago when I was 43. I’m 45 now and am 25 months in. I did not want to go short so I still have a few inches of brown left that I will be cutting off soon and then I will officially be fully, naturally gray. I absolutely love my gray hair and the only regret I have is that I did not do this in my thirty’s when I wanted to but wasn’t confident enough to let it happen. I get compliments everywhere I go and am always stopped and asked about it. I had compliments with my brownish red died hair but nothing like I do now. My husband loves it and he can’t wait to be a silver fox to match me lol.

#12 Embracing age ... We are all aging, and it is so important to live in the moment and embrace our life changes ... I don't want to miss anything because of fear of aging ... I'm 48 and embracing the white hair that has started coming in around my face. It actually looks really nice with my blonde hair. Also, I've stopped wearing makeup almost completely. I've realized that my skin is beautiful even with some imperfections ... Getting older is part of our journey. I'm here for it too, Renee!!! I love your channel and newsletters! I started growing out my grey hair over 5 years ago shortly before I turned 50. I'm 55 now and have been grown out for several years and I absolutely love it. I also have curly hair and I get compliments all the time about my curls and my grey. I saw someone recently that I hadn't seen in person in several years, but we do see pictures on Facebook. She told me that she loves my hair and was asking me about the process, etc. One of the things that she asked me was, How long did it take you to get used to your reflection? I told her that it didn't take me any time to get used to my reflection. Admittedly, when I first started growing it out and I had that demarcation line, I didn't like that, but I did love the grey that I was seeing and I was committed to the gowing out process. I love my grey hair way more than I ever did my colored hair. My husband and everyone around me were so supportive too.

I always said I would never go grey. When I was 64 my mother had a stroke at the end of 2020. I moved in with her and by July I said enough. I was coloring my hair myself so it wasn't the cost. It was just the hassle and having roots. I just stopped cold turkey and I learned to embrace it. It is now a lovely shade of silver with a little dark grey mixed in. My mom calls it gun metal grey. I stopped caring what other people thought. Unfortunately I don't have a single curl, not a wave, just perfectly straight hair. I've learned to live with it.

At 65 I am salt and pepper grey. I started going grey in my 50's and having never dyed my hair I knew I didn't have the patience to start! I also wanted to see what the pattern would be. Friends told me I could use mascara to cover the beginnings of my grey but I let them know that I was happy with the natural process of God's highlights for me.😊

I love my grey hair because that who and what i am. I don't want people to like me for something added to myself. You are who you are accepting and be thankful to the Lord. Does that mean i think I'm fantastic? Of course not :) I'm grateful to have hair.....if i don't have hair I'll be grateful.

As a natural strawberry-blonde, I’ve never dyed my hair, but at almost 55, I’m just now starting to get lighter hair around my temples. I’m not going to do anything, mainly because of you & not wanting to spend the money trying to get a realistic looking strawberry-blonde! I learned that we (redheads) only lose our pigment, so I’m very lucky that the texture has stayed the same, I’m just losing the color. Weird hah?

Love mine too. Can't believe people ask you why you have gray hair ,same reason they have their color. Right!

My going gray story is very similar to yours. I now love all the compliments I get! At first I thought I'd look older but embracing it made all the difference. It has become very trendy and I see a lot of younger women going gray. Freedom!!

I started going gray at 39 - that was 30 years ago. I’ve never colored my hair - was fully gray in my 40s - and as a result, people tell me I haven’t changed at all - that I still look like I did 20 years ago! 😂❤️ And P.S. like you, it’s a head full of curls!!

I made the decision to keep my natural color since I was 25. I am now 46 and when I found your videos a few years back I was so glad to see you're doing this because it is going to be something I do very soon. Thank you for Paving The Way. You Are Beautiful with the multicolor gray, black, white hair.❤

Why should we have to justify ourselves to others. I grew mine out, coloured again and now regret it, but never mind, since I found a good stylist who doesn't take too much off, my hair feels better and has more shape.

Glad you make these videos. They help me stay in track. I’m on my 3rd attempt to go grey at 6 months grow out again. Being 40 and choosing to go grey to protect my curls is hard in a generation that has normalized gel nails/ lip fillers/ Botox is added pressure. BUT I believe that ageing naturally is actually going to benefit me over the next decade🤷🏻‍♀️ I remind myself to put that time/effort/money into my health/fitness

THANK YOU for mentioning the chemical dangers of hair coloring. As bad as it is for individual women I feel badly for the stylists who have to work with those chemicals every day!

I love your 14 Reasons why video. I started the process on Nov.1. Chose to cut it off into a pixie and be done with it!!! I love it love love love it. There’s still brown on top a bit but it will get chopped off. I ordered the purple shampoo you recommended. Thanks for that info. Again, your video affirmed why and how I am feeling.

Yes, your hair is BEAUTIFUL. 👍 I will be 64 this year. I stopped coloring my hair about 3 years ago. I wish however that my hair was more gray than what it is! I have naturally curly hair too. Unfortunately after all these years of fighting the grays and curls, my hair has been thinning. 😕

Hello I am a new subscriber and I love your curly hair. I have grey hair and it’s been 4 1/2 yrs and it’s been wonderful I’m looking for some products that would give me volume on my crown and my curl stay put for the day. Can you tell me if you recommend the Bead head curl dryer or the Ionic hair dryer and is it the 1800w one you used? I like one that would dry faster if possible. Ty for sharing.😊

Embracing your age and self acceptance is liberating. Recognising the multiple social pressures that entrap so many woman is so important. Commercialsm depends on people hating themselves and therefore needing products, surgery etc. May i just add that the use of negative language eg. Chicken wings..floppy arms. Is so unhelpful. I shudder when i hear women use destructive words. We are free to describe ourselves but mockery is never helpful. Thanks Renee for sharing.

Thank you! I needed this video.....I decided about 6 weeks ago I was never dying my hair again! It was, and still is a scary concept. But.....I am ready! I too was dying my hair every 3 weeks!! It's a horrible thing to be held hostage by the roots of your hair!! I would do the roots and 3weeks later I would do an all over color. It was a vicious cycle!!

Your hair is gorgeous Renee... I've had a few grey hairs over the years but genetically most of my family doesn't go really grey until later in life like 70 and up... I was born blonde and my hair is now more of a light brown/dirty blonde.. I stopped dyieng my hair 10 years ago.. salon coloured it once lasted 4 weeks.. if I did it at home lasted 7 weeks.. you can actually dye it grey now ... which I might try lol
