I am Italian and I really appreciate your video. For me it is very useful, because at first I made the same mistakes but on the contrary, the same words. however, I want to reiterate to use "ciao" only with friends because in work contexts or those who do not know it is just an offense, especially if you talk to a person who has a certain job role and the word "vecchio" because on a person is an offense, it is like saying that that person is to be thrown away, damaged, but we use it in tender terms for example: > . In this case we use diminutive "vecchiETTO" to make understand it's not in bad way ;))))))))))
I am off to Venice again after the lockdown in October, and taking in-laws with me. I just want to be able to speak basic Venetian dialect when ordering food, an an early morning water-taxi!
When I first learned the word 'caldo', I assumed its English cognate was 'cold'. Wrong! I needed some device to associate 'freddo' with 'cold', so I reasoned that Freddo Frogs need to be kept cold in hot weather, or they'll melt! Whatever works right?!
