Holy crap, I almost spit my waffles out when I heard the name of the ship Eternal September. That is such an obscure reference. The thought that someone would name a ship after it is hilarious. Now I need a real ship to be named that.

I remember the beginning of Eternal September. It was terrible the usenet groups were so hard to get to. Even getting online busy signal after busy signal My ISP at the time was Telerama. It took them about 6 months to deploy enough Connections to handle the new influx of users. I had a 128k ISDN at the time. This ship is aptly named. Bravo to the creator for remembering such a time in Internet History.

It looks like some 'limo' enthusiast saw a Constitution class and thought 'I can stretch that' and then added antique solar panels in order to 'decorate' the ugly section they put in the middle.

Honestly I can see a ship of this style acting almost as an ECM/ECCM or AWACS ship, which are roles that are really underrepresented in sci-fi.

I see three other uses for the Baud class: 1) Place a small T.V. / radio-like studio on the vessel, and have the ship become a small mobile propaganda base. Like what was used by the allies on Earth in WWII. 2) Subspace signal interception. Starfleet Intelligence would had made good use of this ship for listening in on the badies. 3) One cannot tell me that Section 31 would not have made an interesting use for this ship. Just my thoughts.

I think the Baud class could've made a great radio entertainment ship with the captain being the head d.j.

One spiffy thing about fan-designed ships over the years is how fun they can be at filling in gaps that arise from stories focusing on only a couple of crews. This was always some of the fun with the technical manuals too as they could fill out the world building in unique ways. This design in part reminds me of the role that Babylon 5 exploration vessels filled as well with their dual mission of charting routes and setting up new gates.

That was an awesome class. It made sense to construct a class of this design after the first Klingon war. It seems to have served it's purpose. I like the design and the versatility of it in acting as a "Com" array and the ability to construct the new "Com" booster stations where and when they were needed. I very much enjoyed your description of the arrival and building of this design. Thanks again for the little Star Trek fun!

Ah the Baud-class, when you need to make a phone call but your bosses wont let you build the towers. Jokes aside, this class does make sense. Something to fill a role until the main problems are solved. I still have hope you'll do a video on the Yamato-class from Starfleet command.

Development of the Baud class from the Constitution class reminds me of how the USN converted WWII fleet submarines into radar picket submarines in the 1940's and 1950's.

great video. my only issue with the design is the middle section of the star ship. seems like a massive weak point having a small rectangular area when they could've just kept the tubular design through the secondary hull thus also increasing the cargo space needed for station building.

Interesting, but wouldn't the Baud class be better named the Baudot class? I get that as a communications ship it's a nod to the unit of symbol rate, baud, but the unit itself was named after Émile Baudot who invented the Baudot code used in telegraphy, and naming ships after people is much more common.

You still haven't reviewed the second season of Star Trek : Lower Decks nor Prodigy, and you still haven't talked about Strange New Worlds. Even a video of mistakes would be nice.

Sadly, it's not as simple as that for many reasons! First, RU-vid is not my Job, merely my hobby, and so it's secondary to what I actually make a living at, and also sadly, I do not make anywhere near enough money here to make it a full time job. Of course if you'd like to support the channel so i can devote more time to it, the link to my Patreon is in the description! Second, Back Trek takes FAR more research then my starship videos, meaning a lot more time required to make them. Same with the mistakes videos, though i did finish one recently, did you miss it perhaps? And to that that Back Trek is not nearly as popular as the starship videos, meaning more work for about a third of the views, and again Im sure you can see why my focus has been on whats popular, rather then catering to the minority. When I have free time i will of course come out with other videos, but right now Im just too busy... Though again if you wish to contribute to the channel to help make this a full time job, links are in the description! Take care!

6:50 that the panels could be detached brings a thought to mind, based on the imagery of the panels being segmented… …It becomes easy to visualise the panels being able to fold away (look at current satellite solar panel arrays and how they collapse of unfold when launched)…but becomes easy to conceive the notion at least that for example, should the ship find itself in jeopardy which required higher warp speeds, to have the panels fold themselves in along the flat spine of the mounting area, plates opening at the ends to accomodate, and the fore and aft sections of the secondary hull retracting over the spine, thus protecting the panels and enabling the higher warp speeds to move to safety? This comes under the notion of the mathematics…you see something coming towards you and your shoelace is untied, do you start moving away as fast as you can from what’s coming, or do you take the few seconds to secure your shoe so you can RUN much faster No I am not implying this IS the case with this design, merely imparting a concept that very easily came to mind whilst seeing the various shots, and hearing the comment about the panels being detachable cemented it Furthermore, being a ship based on a communications array, one might assume that there might have been various ships in the class named after various historically significant people Imagine for example a USS MARCONI, or a USS BELL/ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL are a pair that immediately spring to mind
@garrettrigoni6864

A mobile communications array makes absolutely no sense - 500 crew members? What would they all do???
@jimmysmith2249
@jimmysmith2249 2 года назад
The ships were not as automated as they became later. That and the computer core had to be kept in perfect working order 30 hours per day. You basically had 2 crews on this thing, one starship crew and a whole telephone company.
@Plasmacore_V
@Plasmacore_V 2 года назад
This ship ships function could have easily and more efficiently been accomplished by using a Ptolemy class starship with a subspace array pod. I can't believe Starfleet would waste resources that could go to building actual Constitutions instead of using what is already a better design for the intended purpose. It also would look more aesthetically pleasing.

Then you're not a very acute observer of real life... Since the exact same thing happens now a days, with different, ships, airplanes etc, having different roles and mission profiles... So it 100% makes sense...
@Plasmacore_V
@Plasmacore_V 2 года назад
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Of course that happens in real life. For example an aircraft carrier could have a VLS installed amidships. It's 100% possible. But it's also not an effective use of assest. I guess we can agree to disagree.
@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics
@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics 2 года назад
LOL It's not really an agree to disagree type issue LOL As specific vessels have specific roles, so to build a Connie to try and be a mobile Comm Array would actually be the ineffective use of assets... As the ship itself was not designed to do that mission profile, or equipped to do so! You don't build a jaguar to ferry around a class of school children!

Some of possible causes: 1. Poor quality or defective video cable. 2. Your graphics card/chip is either overheating or is about to fail. 3. Graphics drivers are out of date. If it is a card, turn PC off and reseat the card. Consider getting the thermal paste replaced. Check that the power cables are securely connected (at both ends if you have a modular PSU).
