thanks for all the information. fist time watching your videos. You mention than AMAZON doesn't required time with your authority. They are requiring 180 days. that's what i herd.
I can honestly say I appreciate the transparency, I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and you’re doing an awesome job keep up the good work sir.
THANK YOU for this!! Husband and I are very strongly considering coming out on the road as OOs doing power only. Something about the load boards appeals to me. I’m a research fiend so I feel like it’d be like a game, or a hunt to find “that load” that works for us. Often my husband says “ok babe, I think you’ve looked enough” but oh no, I leave no rock unturned lol. Also love what you said about efficiency. You hear people always talk about what something pays per mile but what about the cost of your time? I enjoy creating systems or making existing systems more efficient so I appreciate this being highlighted. Thanks again for all the knowledge nuggets!!
You sound like me.LOL I probably spend too much time worrying over the small stuff. If you feel like it, send me an email at wmtransportllc@gmail.com. I'd like to talk to you guys. Lol i sound like a salesman.
@@steadytrucker Thank you for the replay!! I am not sure why I am just seeing it so I apologize for the delayed response. We are actually heading out to PA end of this week for a few days to check out a business our good buddy owns and we may partner with him on (I've already been working for him part time remotely for a year). If we feel it's not a good fit for us, we've already decided we're hitting the road in a truck!... In some form or another ha
Man I’ve lost sleep binge watching your videos!!!….I appreciate you. I have a 2020 at4 1500 and I’m a disabled Veteran that wants to get into the business with little to no money. You helped me leaps and bonds
I’ve always been fortunate to have good paying company jobs as a driver for many years. But whenever I saw other jobs and these say we pay you $20 hour after 2 hrs detention. To me that’s crazy. All of my time is worth the same. I dream of being my own boss but so many thing have to come into place before it’s a smart decision. I Really like the videos Steady Trucker!
@@geoestrada5001 I’m definitely staying company until I can buy my own truck cash and still have money in the bank. Hoping truck prices will crash too.
I been running with Amazon for years everyday and it’s kept my business alive at times I think it’s case by case if it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean it won’t work for others, I know people that don’t pay for a single load board. I do think you put out a lot of great info def will still keep watching 💯
I completely agree. They can definitely keep you afloat. I've just talked with and seen guys that put all their eggs in one basket without shopping around.
I didn't realize power-only loads were a thing! You are amazing lol sure enough search and power only loads. We just bought a truck and have to rent a trailer but are waiting on one to become available! This helps so much in the meantime.
So, Im commenting before finishing the video. I try to ONLY do Amazon spot loads if the rate is above $2.50. I've heard you make the most with Amazon when you get access to their contracts section. But for the most part, I just do load out trailers and find loads going the same direction as the load out trailer.
@@steadytrucker Yeah lol I have to agree with you. I get spoiled myself when I get a drop and hook. I just feel at times I can get a better rate if I have a loadout you know.
I was wondering about this. I work a dedicated Amazon account, for JB Hunt. And I was wondering something. I've started my own company, I don't have my truck yet. And I wanted to see, if it's better to wait a yr or so, stay on the dedicated account, then get my own truck and try the Amazon account.
Hello, Im new to your channel and content. I was just wondering what’s the difference between 123 load board and DAT? Currently I run PO with Amazon and you’re 100 % correct about it. It’s not efficient, and the rates are below average.
It's been a while since I got on 123 but dat and truckstop are the 2 biggest boards out there. A lot of the other boards like 123 and smart just resist loads from the mega carriers free sites
Starting out you will need brokers for most of your loads. At some point you start making contacts and occasionally shippers will ask you to cut out the middleman. You can always go directly to shippers to find freight. ONE BIG THING,, if you start working directly for shippers you'll be waiting ,at the very least, 30 days to get paid sometimes up to 60 days. You also take the risk of not getting paid at all. I factor all my loads. My money is guaranteed and I get it the next day because brokers set up credit accounts with factoring companies.
Be diligent on the load boards. Be versatile, ie; carry straps, chains, blocking, wide load signs, flags etc. Knowing the loadboards, types of loads, lanes and what is going to waste your time is important.
Are you talking specifically about hook & drops. It seems you are, but you haven't said anything about sitting while loading, etc.. so its a fair guess your doing hook & drops the way your talk'n, yes or no? I've been watching DAT board off & on for a while. I use to see a number of PO hook & drops. I don't see much any more; lets use Vegas & or SLC for examples on the PO. Thanks for the vid!
Most of power only is hook and drop. Unless you book with jb hunt, schneider etc. Their "PO" is ridiculous and inefficient. SLC is a fairly decent for po but Las Vegas sux, lol. BUT right now it sucks everywhere. It's definitely a job finding good po right now.
@@steadytrucker Thanks for the response! I'm a flatbeder w/zero work & was look'n at PO as a way to start moving again, outa Vegas area. I'm guessing everyone is, lol.
@@simpletruckerstuff9478 vegas is pretty tight for any kind of freight. I'm sure you know. Good rates going in, nothing good out. BUT I have seen some lanes that run from SLC to LA that could get you home often and make good money. Amazon, Swift etc. That run is hard on a truck though
Hello fellow driver, I got a question for you. With power only loads and picking load out trailers do you think it’s possible to negotiate with brokers the time window to drop the trailer?
Loads are either first come first serve. Which means you get there when you want load/unload with no wasted time. Appointment times will usually cause you lots of wasted time. You may be able to get there at 8am but your appointment isn't until 1pm
@@steadytrucker Thx so much. I found your videos right in time. I'm a company reefer driver on medical leave and I'm looking for another driver position I can do less driving and make job $ -no road warriors jobs. I'll try researching more local w2, 1099 or owner opportunities. Thanks
How do you handle when you are pulling a loaded and somewhere down the road, your truck broke down? Can you give me your real example you had ran into, please. Thank you
There are breakdown services like roadmaster that are similar to AAA which can take care of finding roadside or wrecker service at a discount. Knock on wood,, I have always been able to get to a garage during trouble with the exception of tires. No matter where you are there will always be a mobile mechanic or mobile tire service willing to charge you lots of money for roadside service, lol.
Something ive been trying to figure out, because its not mentioned anywhere for power units only, do you still need to wait the 21 days after you get the MC number before you can run it?
Unfortunately the brokers are taking the money the trucker does the work and we get cents on the dollar! Unfortunately the Government doesn’t care about the trucker and let’s companies and the BROKER all out ROB the O/O! Disgusting!!
No their not. Shipper are not that dumb they know what the market is , their not just giving brokers a bunch of money to stick in their pockets. To many trucks is the problem .
No,,lol, i should have been clearer on that. Amazon will let you sign up right away. JB hunt wont. I signed up for Hunt at 3 months. They may have changed since then.
On the power only loads after you drop the loaded trailer does the company expect you to grab an empty or can you just bobtail to your next pick up? Thanks.
Most power only is drop and hook. Unless you do a run for Schneider or JB Hunt etc. you won't have to do anything extra like hunting down empty trailers or taking an empty to backfill somewhere.
I guess you don’t value your time and yourself. If you take out your truck payments, insurance, maintenance, fuel, licenses and other miscellaneous fees and don’t forget uncle sams cut you are left with nothing not even crumbs.
No such thing as a dispatcher for what I do. I constantly have people calling offering their services but they won't work with you unless you have a 40ft trailer or 25ft box truck. I have too many boxes to check anyway.lol
@@beverlyosorto I think it would depend on your operation and the dispatcher. 99% of dispatchers would want you to have a certain size equipment to make it easier on them. You would probably have to try them out to be sure.
the only type of jb hunt loads that pay as far as power only is their private load board. it's the exact same loads as the free 360 loadboard but they show you way more money. it's not negotiable. you login and pick the load you like. most of the loads are garbage as because the market has been down since the summer but they have freight that pays 4 or 5 dollars a mile on their board. the only thing is they take 22% away from the rate. even though they take that much you still can clear 3.50-5.00 a mile on each load. call jb hunt ask for Zach. he can sign you up on the private loadboard.
Great video I’m working my lanes got a couple of different avenues I work and am ATTEMPTING to cultivate but you’re video seriously made me think about it differently and I know I’m being vague (that’s on purpose)thank you sir subscribed.🫡
