The Farmhouse Mansion
The history of this farming property dates back to 1805 when the land was bought by a man named Christian. The acreage would then pass through the ownership of four generations of his descendants. A modern wooden frame house was originally built in 1826 which would serve the families purposes until 1875 when his great-great-grandson David would build the first part part of this modern day farmhouse.
The home is an example of a Victorian Italianate villa including Georgian and Gothic Revival Influences. Some of its striking features include decorative bargeboard, wood shutters with half-round tops and beautiful front entryway within the house. It had two smaller additions over the years mostly keeping with the original architectural style.
The grounds of the property were beautifully landscaped at one time and large garden parties with thousands of guests were held in the late 1800s. The proceeds of these parties were donated for various church related building projects in the area. After 157 years the large parcel of land was eventually sold out of the family in 1962.
The mansion was also featured in a few films near the end of the 20th century. It can be seen in the film Funeral Home from 1980, Buried Secrets from 1996 and it even appeared in an episode of Goosebumps, Night of The Living Dummy 3 in 1997.
The almost 9 acre property was sold in 2019 for millions with the intention of building light industry in its place. The home has since begun the process of being historically designated and has already been incorporated into the the new development's renderings.

I can tell Im going to keep wanting to add to my comments. This place is so beautiful from the start. The outside looks like a doll house it made me think of Anne of 7 Gables ,only it has more . The cellar entrance reminds me of the show The Monsters . They kept a dragon under the stairs lolThe arched windows so pretty, the thick trim work alone would cost a small fortune today. Love this home James. The only thing missing is some chandeliers hanging in the middle of those medallions and high ceilings . Thank you for showing us this fabulous find.

Beautiful house but unfortunately someone is doing some unconventional things to make it undersirable. I love the old doors, hand rails and wood floors. Beautiful property. Love the drone footage. First time viewer here and really enjoying so far! At the beginning of the video, you mentioned all the parties that were held on the outside gardens/grounds so I would imagine the wine cellars came in very handy at that time. Also, with regard to why they were behind wood doors, don’t forget the Prohibition Era of the 1920s. Wow, if walls could talk…
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces Месяц назад
Those are some good points about the garden parties and prohibition. I will also add that maybe they were locked to keep the kids out or even possibly the maids or something like that. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you very much for your comment!!

❤❤ Love this place! Absolutely gorgeous! Just take things back to more traditional colors (was it painted for the movie?) and put up some nice chandeliers you'll be all set. I do believe the room with the gas fireplace and hidden sink was originally a kitchen. Easy enough to do a kitchen remodel, lol. I hope this one is saved.

What a lovely explore!!! Thank you so much for giving that breathtaking staircase the proper attention it deserves... LOVED your various shots going up - so beautiful in that warm yellow daylight! House definitely got my heartrate up! About those moldy wine bottles you found... noticed some were normal looking while others freakish mouldy... could it be the difference in metal caps vs. cork stoppers!? Can cork mould like that or was that extreme metal corrosion? 🤔 Love 💙 your channel James! 👏👍 Thank you!!!
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces Месяц назад
I am not too sure about the wine bottles, I'm no expert but some of them looked as though they had cotton surrounding some of the corks, maybe that was absorbing moisture over the years. That staircase really was nice. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
