A collaboration with Interstate Kyle: This video follows US-50 Eastbound from the Echo Summit descent to US-395 in Carson City Nevada through the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. All music and equipment FAQ's are in the closing credits.
Thank you so much for posting this video. One of my goals in life is to visit Lake Tahoe with my husband. Also, I love the music you chose for this video. Please keep these videos coming.😊
Yes, miss the hell out of it. Lived there 21 years, work in gaming, ski season pass $250. lots of golf, lake and stream fishing. And those wonderful snow bunnies.
I'm not even American but i love watching these interstate roadtrips, i love the diversity and variations in different scenic views you can see. Hopefully I'd be able to do my own road trip myself in the US someday
Thanks for the video bruh.. I’m from East Oakland never been to Tahoe and sadly probably never will but your video give a real surreal experience.... Look beautiful up there man.
By far one of the best videos you have ever published! Spectacular road, curves, even the weather! Every single viewing spot right aside the road is a great invitation to just stop, breath, watch and contemplate such amazing views. I'm happy now! :)
Beautiful video. I’ve been going to Lake Tahoe my entire life, and I never get tired of seeing its beautiful landscape. Like others have commented, it is rather sad, descending from the alpine landscape of Lake Tahoe to the barren high desert of Carson City. The contrast is striking.
Jim and Kyle I,ve watched both of videos and you Gentlemen do A grreat Job, I can't say this on all videos I watch, because I watch a lot of them. Thank you .
Thanks for another great ride with perfect music, Jim. I'm glad you had good weather for your visit to what many call the most scenic lake in the country. I haven't been to Tahoe or Carson City in about 20 years so it was good to see it again. It's going to be interesting to see I-580 next week as over half of it didn't exist the last time I was there.
Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places ever. It does not disappoint! It's been several years since I've been out there, but I'd love to go back. This territory was very familiar to me and I enjoyed seeing it so much. Thanks for posting!
Hi freeway Jim God bless you always my diamond Buddy be blessed your friend Damon have a blessed day many blessings hugs for you always thank you again for all your video's. My cool friend I appreciate you always.
Very nice ride- I was very impressed with Lake Tahoe area- as I have heard of it, but never been there before! Very nice ride- great track to go with it! Awesome ride! Enjoying your long season of videos!
What a ride. I've only seen the north part of Tahoe, so this was a nice change of scenery (surprising that the Nevada side has mid rises). Like the tunes and Kyle's commentary as well. Thanks for sharing!
Lambs love collaboration. We loved the tour of Stateline. The views from Cave Rock look a-maz-ing. The decent into Carson City was a treat too, watching the rain shadow and sun shadows effect on vegetation. Ever since watching +BarbiePoleDancer do the Sacramento to Carson City drive we have been waiting for a slower paced tour. This did not disappoint. Great job guys.
Used to get car sick on that downgrade to Carson as a kid every time... those long swooping corners one after another is enough to test anybodies stomach! Love seeing a vid from my neck of the woods, TY!
Something should be said about how it went from green to brown really quickly coming down the mountain. The contrast in such a short distance is amazing.
The rain shadow effect of the Sierra Ridges. Orographic uplift squeezes out all the moisture in clouds crossing the range and once that air reaches the crest of the mountains it slides downhill into the Carson Valley -- much drier air after having the moisture squeezed out of it by the uphill climb -- leaving no water to nourish the Ponderosa pines. All that survives on the east slope of the mountains is desert sage.
That is such a scenic roadway. Loved the video. Here's another roadway, yet again from PA. US 322 from State College to Harrisburg. Bonus if you end it at the end of the freeway section east of Harrisburg.
after 12 min watching the nice vid on a big pc-screen...; I do feel that motion sickness is taking over...; = it's all your fault dude.... !........ :-) // thank's anyway.. // I am happy to see that scenery again after 30 years (!).... / I did spent one year in the USA as a young fellow.... = no "go pro's" and that kind of gadgets at this time... :-) // - I did live partially in Dayton (= close to Carson City), and I did love to take the car and spent leisure time arround the lake area...; = I did feel like home for me when I was hanging arround there // greetings from an mountainous area as well in in Switzerland.... :-)
LOL, sorry...looking back I probably could have slowed that footage down a bit, I'm always improving (at least I like to think so) at making these videos. Comparing Video 13-28 to Video 20-20, (same footage) is a good example of that.

+NorCal Motorist Thanks, it just did not work out in Sacramento, heavy traffic coming in at rush hour and plans were already made with friends while we were there so no time to film. I get what I can.
I just did this drive in a tractor trailer a few days ago. I had to chain up on I80 twice but for the 3rd leg I didn’t have to when I was on US50. I can honestly say it’s truly a beautiful ride, I hope to go back some day and travel these same roads under less stressful conditions... in a car without chains. Lol. Maybe it will give me a chance to appreciate such breathtaking views, I can even stop to take a picture or two instead of worrying about which axle was breaking traction or how much brakes I needed to reach the bottom of the grade. It’s all in days work and next time it won’t be work!
Such a beautiful and majestic-looking place! I guess the Lake of the Ozarks or Kentucky Lake'll do for me til I find means or financial ability to see with my own eyes...
Nice trip without having to drive it myself for a change. I lived in Lyon County for 12 years and frequently made it up to Tahoe and Markleeville, visiting the beach and the casinos. One point of correction and frequent confusion: Carson City is in the EAGLE Valley. The CARSON Valley starts from the top of the hill just south of town where the WalMart is, descending down toward Minden and Gardnerville. Would like to see a trip on NV-28 from Spooner Summit around the northern part of the lake, which is far more scenic, over to Kings Beach, then up CA-267 over Brockway Pass to Truckee.
Excellent looking video. A beautiful, amazing, informative ride. The scenery was very breathtaking. The music was the best. Could always use some Methany on every ride. I didn't know Neal Schon did solo stuff. Wasn't too familiar with the last musician, but he sounded good. Thanx for posting this.
fantastic video there jim,i bet that U.S 50 is one of the major truck routes in the sierra nevada area lol. also there's a I-580 in nevada??!!! no way that's incredible, looking forward to that one hahahahahaha!!!
My mom and step dad were the managers of the "only" Motel on Ski Run BLVD and the units were reserved five years in advance during ski season by a gang of skiers from San Francisco Ca.. .
Questo e un viaggio che ho fatto. Meraviglioso e me lo porterò nel cuore fin che vivo. Rimane un qualche cosa di indelebile che solo in America esiste questa fantastica vista. Grazie.
Now, THIS video takes me back 35 years...to the last time I drove this road into this glorious area. I remember driving there with some Air Force buddies. One asked me if we were near the state line. I said, "trust me...you'll know when we're there." :) Did you ever consider a trek through the "loneliest road" section of Hwy. 50?
Good Evening/Morning Jim, man I wish you could have somhow talked Kyle ito doing another video just like this just after all of the Major snowstorms hit us, Tahoe got FEET of snow, and that video would have looked soo much different than this one
I don't influence Kyle one way or the other, this was my footage, he just helped with the annotations on this one, if he wanted to film Tahoe in the snow I'm sure he would have.
Another great video, I miss Lake Tahoe as a kid my parents had a condo in Incline Village. Tahoe always been a magical place to me. Did you get a chance to visit Genoa and Virginia City?
Great video Jim! I am sure you get this question a lot, but what kind of vehicle do you drive? I imagine you put quite a lot of miles on it! Keep up the good work!
Right around the 4:00 mark when you did that JUMP, gotta tell ya, all depending which way the driver went, meaning dont know if he went Pioneer Trail when he reached it or if he just stayed on 50, but either way, missed some really great scenery going either way.....
My hybrid car has low-rolling-resistance tires and it turns into a rocket on that descent from Spooner Summit into Carson City. Scares the crap out of me.
Who else was gripping their phone in a white-knuckled death grip and making tire-screeching noises with their mouths while watching this? I couldn't really enjoy the scenery cuz it was whizzing by so fast! Seems to me the video should be retitled "My Trip to Lake Tahoe After My Brake Line Was Cut". I was getting seasick! On the plus side, I was amusing the heck out of my husband with my sound effects! But after all is said and done, this is a beautiful drive I wouldn't mind making - AT A MUCH SLOWER SPEED!!😂
I take it you are new to the channel, that's how we roll, not many would watch a real-time video an hour + long, I can't be all things to all people but thanks for watching just the same.
Mom and step dad lived here for years and did they ever have company, when I lived here I told no one but my adult kids. Due to our seven year drought the trees look sick, so sad.
I have been living in this area for the past 30 tears now, and would you believe this is the first time that I have ever heard about this Old Myers road, so before the section of US 50 that you were on here coming down the mountain, was Myers Road until 47 as you said, the way to get to tahoe before US 50 was built, and if so, would you happen to have any more information on this road???? AT around the 2:50 mark, dont know if yu noticed that building you passed on the left hand side, but that was one of those building that housed one of those HUGE guns that during the winter they use to shoot on the side of the mountain to create landslides if way too much snow accumulates during the wintertime, its alomst like a Cannon....Once you got down to the bottome of the mountain, glad to see that you decided to go straight US 50 and not take Pioneer Trail even though that would have been a really nice drive as well.....
+Andrew Silva InterstateKyle (who makes videos like this on YT) did the notations as stated in the opening, but he knows the area well as a part-time resident so I trust his facts, that was my first time through the area.
Even though there is always alot of stuff to do in Lake Tahoe, lots of bike riding and everything, even though I havent done it yet and probably plan not to casue I dont think I could do the whole thing, They have a bike ride every year that starts in Tahoe, and it called the OATBRAN ride which stands for One awesome tour Bike ride across Nevada, and what you do is start in Tahoe by the casinos, and it a 7 day ride, on just the 1st day, you ride from the casinos, climb 50 to the top of Spooner Summit, then ride down into Carson City, there you catch US 395 ride through Carson til you hit US Highway 50 Williams st. then from there you ride 50 out of Carson, up over the hill and then ride all the way to Fallon, and thats just day #1 from there on so many miles per day you just ride on the Highway till you finially reach the Nevada/Utah border which the ride finially ends, from what I've heard, except for the distance, it's one heck of a ride.....
tell ya right now, with all of the mountains you'd have to climb, this one is for the WELL fit.....lots of climbing in this one, and Spooner at the very beginning is just a warmup....
Actually, Meyers and Stateline are communities or "districts" in counties of California and Nevada. Meyers is a community in El Dorado county and Stateline is a community in Douglas county. Both are governed by their respected counties... Great road trip of the Lake Tahoe area... Next, on to Reno NV???
Interesting how the casino's all bunch of there right on the state line to take advantage of the difference in laws. Pretty sad to say, but I didn't even know what the capital of Nevada was. I would have said "Las Vegas" before
HI there....I am vacationing in Stateline and need to pick someone up in Reno Airport. I'm petrified of driving these mountain roads. Is there any way to get from Stateline to Reno airport on roads that are NOT mountain passes where there are curves and 2000 ft drops???
I have no idea for alternatives, this was my only time passing through the area but I'm pretty sure US-50 is the safest, most efficient option, the curves and drops were not that bad driving them, the sped up video makes it look worse than it is.
Dont know if you'll ever make it back to Tahoe again, but little bit later on this year, do belive at the Harrah's hotel, they are going to open their very first Hell's Kitchen there.....
