@@ickytips Same. I played Lies of P first and was so impressed with how fucking good it was and then got Lords of the Fallen for free from a friend and STILL was disappointed with how bland it is (not to mention confusing with that two world stuff.... which is cool in concept but so poorly done in terms of execution as it actively punishes exploration while in that world)
Other games worth a mention: The Last Hero of Nostalgaia, Stranger of Paradise, Hellpoint, Arboria, Pascal's Wager DE, The Surge 1,2 , Lunacid, Mortal Shell. Soulstice doesn't belong here and Asterigos is also debatable (though a good game nonetheless)
Soulstice is a really great game that deserves some attention and love, but it's more an hack 'n' slash (closer to DMC and Bayonetta) than an actual Soulslike; it's very technical and challenging tho, so if you like to put yourself to the test Soulstice is the game fo you. Plus the inspiration to Berserk/Claymore makes it really cool
WOW! I can't believe you mentioned Blade of Darkness! That game was BRUTAL and amazing. But for some reason very obscure and underrated. I've never met a fellow gamer who would know (or even heard of) Blade of Darkness. I recommend it very much, even today.
Omg he forgot nioh man omg how could u could include soulstice and thymesia and others but u cant include nioh man, what is interitus blade of darkness and kristala my gosh u can include them but not nioh omg
a lot of soulslike games have been released recently and there will be many more, but what I want to say is, in my opinion, steelrising is mechanically better than Lies of P, and Lies of P even erased the idea of the plot in steelrising, and can you call Lies of P soulslike , although I will not convince the game is good, and I am also glad that at least one channel mentions Lords of fallen 2023, because I defend it as the best representative of the genre and the best soulslike game 2023, unfortunately in my country gamers are not so discerning, so for them the best game is and which is praised by their favorite RU-vid channel, and small channels are not interesting to anyone, and therefore there is no chance that in the future games such as MH Wilds will have localization, thanks for your attention and thanks for the video, very cool)
*I just had a nightmare with this brand new enemy called Hell Rebounder.Basically, he would leave potions, delicious food, and swords or shields specifically on a ground. When you touch those cursed 🤬 and deceptive items you summon a small Hell Rebounder. He has the power to multiply by 5 within seconds and continue multiplying by 5 until all those Hell Rebounders throw rocks and/or poison daggers to kill you.The best way to deal with such enemy is to Cast a Fire 🔥 Ball Spell right onto the items that Summon Hell Rebounder or to throw bombs on items that are on a ground that summon Hell Rebounder.Hell Rebounder looks like a Small Zombie Clown 🤡 or a Small Zombie Joker dressed in Mideval Clothing.*
Code Vein is better than 80% of this list. The Nioh games are even better than several true souls games. Wo Long and Lies of P are the best games on this list
Sometimes you just gotta buy it. Don't get me wrong I've done plenty of Argh Matey, but certain games just deserve the purchase. Elden Ring I first sampled, but after 30 hours I decided to support the developer. Got it on sale too!
Probably not but I wouldnt want that any way. Resident evil is in its own genre and I appreciate what it is. I do like Souls like games but Sometimes I like a break too.
@Wolfqueen007 Thanks. I played that one and it was great. I'm currently working on Spiderman 2. I just don't understand why these companies that make these cool rpgs don't include modes for those of us that are older, have disabilities and/or just want an enjoyable game with little to no frustration. 😔
Steel-rising, even on the normal difficulty, is by far the easiest souls-like I've played. I've almost finished the game and I think I've died fewer than 10 times. If it's still too much, you can turn down enemy damage or how much stamina you use.
@@MrJbinchrist the reason they don't is because that's not the game they are making. If you want an enjoyable game with little frustration, there are literally, and I mean this in the most literal term: MILLIONS of other games to play :) Gaming is a luxury. Not a necessity. For instance: I'm not asking for Animal Crossing games to add a "hard mode". I know the games are not made for me, it's made for people that enjoy that world and those mechanics and love relaxing while maintaining an island. It's okay for a game to just not be for you. There's no reason to demand games to change just because YOU want them to, that's selfish. If you want to enjoy the story of a particular game, RU-vid and Twitch exist with thousands of playthroughs of these types of games. Lastly: These games aren't hard. They have a specific challenge and all they ask is that you take the time and energy to invest in learning to over come that challenge. The only one holding back is yourself. People have finished Souls-like games blind, with their feet, with controllers that aren't made for them like the Donkey Kong Bongos, and even with Bananas hooked up to a Raspberry PI If you don't want to learn to overcome that challenge, that's fine! Nobody's forcing you to. Just let the game be and enjoy one of the other million games out there that does have what you specifically want in a game :)
The only decent soulslike I played in the last decade or so, were: the 2 Remnant games (even if the first one barely passed, and ONLY because of its sequel), Lords of the Fallen Remake (which was a wonderful surprise, since the original one was probably THE worst soulslike I ever played), and The Last Hero of Nostalgaia (probably my favourite one amongst these 4) ... All the other ones were utter crap, made by people who never really understood the concept of the original Souls games. (kinda like Dark Souls 2... I'm looking at you, Lies of P)
Why is it so hard to find a souls inspired game that is NOT hard?! I'm sick and tired of getting ticked off at getting killed a dozen times by the same enemies! Don't you dare tell me "git gud" because I'm just as f***ing sick and tired of that BS meme as I am with games that are too hard!
Not really a meme but you literally just have to git gud lmao take your time to learn the patterns of the game and count your deaths as learning experiences, the difficulty is the main attraction of soulslike games, without it it'd be just another action adventure game.
I'd really love to play a Soulslike with a more interesting system for magic than locking on and spamming the button. And definitely one that doesn't rely on timed parries being critical to create difficulty, which I've always found boring.
as opposed to what, dodging or shielding? Timed parries are literally the BEST way to engage in such systems, as they require ACTIVE aggressive input, not just scurrying away or hiding behind a shield. It gives you a completely different mindset while playing the boss, taking way more risks instead of playing passive.
@@blinkachu5275 As opposed to timing not being a critical component in the first place. You can have games be difficult through the focus on more mindful elements like strategy or buildcraft. Most Soulslikes are essentially rhythm games, it's rote and overdone and not something I particularly enjoyed to begin with. Though something more focused on dodging and general mobility would also be fun, luckily that's already something that exists with Nioh and Wo Long (games which also feature the only interesting use in timing in any of these soulslikes, since Ki Bursts enable consistent aggressive play and are also entirely within your own control, so you don't have to PASSIVELY wait for something to respond to... which to note timed parries are NOT an "active aggressive input", because they require you to respond to what the enemy does which requires you to WAIT). What magic systems in Soulslikes give you though are a more robust suite of options to control the situation, so you don't always feel like you're just responding. It's what makes the Jedi Order/Survivor duology so much more engaging to me than most Soulslikes, and it's really only scratching the surface of a Souslike that isn't focused on melee combat.
If its souls like, its auto ignore for me. I’ve beaten most of FS games with ease and I’m sick and tired of that formula. I never wanted to see any more rolling simulation games.
