One of the issues with mint has nothing to do with mint itself; it is the conflation of mint with menthol. In so many products these two monikers have become incorrectly synonymous. Thank you so much for this great review, how esthetically and thematically satisfying! my 20 year old son has just asked for a mint fragrance. He typically wears pure natural essences, prefers them to perfumery, and loves spearmint essential oil. I am hoping to find a frag that evokes this! 🍃
Thanks for this great video Sebastian. My primary mint fragrance is Menta y Menta from Miller Bertaux. It is straightforward (not complex), full-on mint. I think of chewing gum more than toothpaste or mouthwash, but it I like it. Also, it is one of the few fragrances I can wear if I have a bad headache so in that sense, it is also therapeutic!
Definitely agree with Mr. Burberry Indigo. I've always dubbed FK Mr. Lemonmint since he tends to use those together quite a bit. Case in point, Carven's L'eau Intense - one of the strongest designer freshies in the past half-decade imo. Beach Hut was my Christmas Eve fragrance, but I've been busting Molinard's The Basilic quite a bit lately. Essentially basil-mint tea, but super refreshing.
I'm from the middle east too, (Tunisia) and we use mint a lot in our cooking, tea etc... and we plant it in our garden also and there's nothing better than smelling a fresh cut mint leaf.
I absolutely agree: Mint can be amazing, but Geranium pour Monsieur is awful! Other nice mint fragrances: Bijon - Menthe Froide, Comme des Garcons - Play Green, Jul et Mad - Aqua Sextius, Eau d'Italie - Acqua Decima, Histoires de Parfums - 1828 (Eucalyptus is mentioned, but that smells minty, of course).
Love Beach Hut Man from Amouage. Probably in my top 5 from this house. Mint fragrances are comforting to me. Saint Julep smells delightful but disappears on me after two hours. Can't handle Burberry Indigo; smells like Windex on me. (Can you do rhubarb fragrances?)
Mint is my favourite herb. Can’t live without it in the kitchen. Love mint tea and a minty bath, but just can’t wear it as a fragrance and I have tried - specifically Mentha by Fiele Fragrances which is a sweet, spicy, Moroccan spearmint - very refreshing but not on my skin! I like to sniff it on clothes, but not on my skin. Very weird 😂
I like mint in Guerlain Homme Edp, very nice fragrance! Possible notes to feature, not sure if you might have covered them already though: incense, myrrh, gardenia, grapefruit. PS. A Happy 2021, Sebastian!
I LOVE mint!! I love the mint in Rosabotanica by Balenciaga. I don't see a mint note listed but it definitely gives off a minty essence. SO sad they've discontinued this gem.
I don't think i've ever smelled mint in a fra before. Very curious about it now. I have a chance to get a sample of Mancera's "Aoud Lemon Mint" from someone close to me so, i think i'm gonna giver a whirl. Thanks for the video
I thought I didn't like mint but you've persuaded me to try! Starting in January, I usually begin desiring fresher fragrances so mint might be a new direction to explore. Maybe currant would be a note to focus on for a video. Or, perhaps more broadly, berries.
Wonderful video! I love mint, and you can tell how passionate you are about it, which is nice to see . I loved your powdery perfume video. Wouldn’t mind seeing recommendations for milky, creamy, smokey, incense, honey, tea, chocolate - I noticed some on your channel highlighting 1 or 2, but would also enjoy a top 10 for each (if any of the categories appeal to you:) Or even “next level gourmands” I think a lot of people want to smell like cinnamon rolls 🙋🏻♀️Myself included but I can’t afford angel share.
Thanks to you Sebastian, I blind bought "Clementine California" and it's the best fragarnce ever. I also ordered "Afternoon swim" recently, which should be arriving very soon ( also blind bought). All the best to you and have a very happy new year. Cheers from Estonia!!
Great video. I got the Nomad Tea today and this prompted me to watch this video. I loved the Geranium pour Monsieur but cannot wear it now because, I think, they changed smth in its formulation. L'Anarchiste by Caron (Copper bottle) and Ombre Noir by Lalique both great men's fragrances featuring a very prominent mint note. They are both unapologetically male and quite alpha-male smelling, dare I say. Thank you!
I came across a fragrance called Electric Dreams by Miguel Matos. I haven't smelled it yet but I was intrigued with metallic and plastic being listed as notes. As a beginner Fraghead, I'm very excited to find unusual notes being used. Can you do a video on unusual, non-traditional, or experimental notes if you know of some perfumes using them? Even something like clay seems pretty unique to me.
Another nice list! I have bottles of Beach Hut Man and Eau de Minthe, and travel sprays of Sedley, Renaissance, You or Someone Like You, and Acqua di Parma Club Colonia.
EAU D'ITALIE ACQUA DECIMA Top notes are Lemon, Mint and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Neroli and Petitgrain; base notes are Vetiver and White Wood. HEELEY MENTHE FRAICHE Top notes are Mint and Bergamot; middle notes are Green Tea and Freesia; base note is Virginia Cedar.
Would you consider eucalyptus as mint? I always consider them in the same territory I think. If so, I would say La Tosca by Xerjoff is my favorite fragrance with this note.
Hey Sebastian, you should check Menthe Froide from Bijon made by Cecile Zarokian. It's so refreshing on a hot hot day 🙂 It's in an extrait concentration and it's not that pricey 😉
it´s like you read peoples minds :D, yesterday in 100 k sub video i was thinking about making a request on top minty fragrances video :D. Also watching your video right now i am sure you are going to do another one, that i wanna see... top 10 amouage fragrances, am i right haha
I got a sample of this. The smell is nice and unique but i couldn’t properly judge the projection and longevity since it was a small dabbed vibe. How is the performance for you?
@@Artsloverinlr performance is solid 6-10hours if I spray 2times on shirt/chest area and 1spray on each wrist. just make sure not to spray too close to your nose, so you don't get noseblind. Nomad Tea has that sugary note similar to BR540 which people can get noseblind to quickly if the source is near to the nose.
Dont like in fragrances tbh unless blended with other notes in a really balanced way. Could u do fragrances list with peru balsam or balsamic in general and lil bit discussion on what that is actually in fragrances?
Like you, I prefer an aromatic mint type spearmint, like "nana mint" that grows in mediterranean countries. I'm not a fond of pepper mint, it's too "After Height-ish" (the chocolate), it reminds me too much of British Christmas treats or chewing gums.
So sad that L'homme ideal cool is now discontinued, I managed to buy two 100ml bottles in Spain but the mint note on this one is almost absent. Do you have a similar perfume to recommend ?
Thanks for another great video . I think u would lean toward the mint/chocolate of thosr 2 with it being maybe a darker scent. Have been wanting the first Guerlain one for a while now . Im not a big fan of Vince Camuto but their ETERNO ( white bottle) is great for me and it leads with a wonderful mint note that stays with the scent throughout. Have you smelled it and if so what did you think of it.
Great work, Sebastian! I’ve been waiting for this topic. How do you feel that Agonist’s “Nordic Noir” compares to those listed? It’s kind of a wet mint and the sample I have got me interested in mint scents. Keep it up and hello from Corvallis, Oregon!
Phenomenal list sebastian, would love to see you reviewing Chocman Mint by alyson oldoini wih notes of lavender, mint, chocolate ,tonka, patchouli, vanilla, coffee and much more:) i heard its amazing.
I think Montale & Mancera (or one of them) has a couple of mint fragrances. I've just seen them while scrolling through so I have no clue what they smell like.
can u suggest any mint frag suitable for me? normal perfume always make me headache and sorethroat.. i would like to find any mint perfume for sensitive perfume person like me.. anything suitable for me?
Hi I hope you can help me I brought a discontinued purfume that my daughter loves we can not find anything similar the it is mint cucumber ( just made by Primark) but as teen girl she loves it as mint & cucumber it self are both fresh clean smelling but the cucumber adds a fruity smell ( we try perfume shop card sprayed sergestions) nothing came close to it
@@fragchitown8985 I loved it so much I bought 5 other rook fragrances. I have to say, undergrowth and the forest are my two favorites that are "milder" but amber is my overall favorite. So so good.
@@crank01 Wow - you are a good supporter of the brand! I tried Forest and it found it nice, but decided not enough to buy a bottle. I likely stayed away from trying Amber because I dislike vanilla and that typically features in the amber accord.
It’s a fruit and looks like a cross between apple or pear not eatable unless you cook it or boil it but the fruit has such gorgeous fragrance to it. Fruity sweet essence. You can buy quince jam and eat it it’s quite yum!!
I generally DON’T like mint…..at least, to a really noticeable degree. If I had to choose one that is acceptable to me, it would probably be Creed Selection Verte.
