Ali, I was a student that was really bad at studying. One day, I came across your video about how to revise for exams and after that I binged watched all of your videos. Now I am one of the highest achieving students in my class!
"When I stole a piece of bread to feed my stomach when I was 14, they threw me into the prison and gave me free bread for 6 months there. This is the justice of life." Les Miserables, Victor Hugo
Hey Ali, First of all merry Christmas. One day I watched your active recall tip video. And during my university I went from 1.3 GPA to 4.0 GPA thank you for that
Glad to see my favorite fantasy author Sanderson getting recommended! I've been looking for more non-fiction books to read so I'll definitely be adding some of these to my list.
I'm currently listening to a very interesting book called "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" by Mihaly Csikszentmihaly. The book is the result of his research of flow, or being "in the zone", where you are enjoying a certain activity so much that you lose track of time. He describes how the state of flow can be cultivated and, by that, how we can enjoy our work, everyday activities, relationships, live more intentionally and immersed, and generally have a more fulfilling life. Thought I'd share my book recommendation here as well 📖
You're the best thank you for inspiring me! I am really impressed by the way you have time to read all these books. Just downloaded half of them to read during the Christmas break. You have a beautiful mind, stay cool
Thank you SO much, Ali for sharing your absolutely magnificent wisdom and persona so transparently with us whether it be in the aspect of studies, productivity or life in general! I’m sure you get to hear this a lot but you are making such a huge difference in so many people’s lives by inspiring them to change for the better even if it be by a minuscule amount everyday! In your last video, you mentioned how one of the reasons why you started this channel was a selfish one - to make it become your secondary source of income but I’d like to negate that point with a heartfelt NO for the sole reason that you’ve always been, from Day 1, out there to help others in the process and I feel like whatever benefit you get in return for it is much less than you actually deserve for the splendid quality of content, your sheer dedication and that friendly connection with your audience full of banter and learning you have so easily developed. Your continuous endeavour to improve yourself or being curious about newer things is such an inspiring sight almost to the point of endearing! I wish you prosper in all you that you do because you’ve been nothing but a fruitful addition to everyone’s watch-time in a world where mindless chatter and content is abundant! Lotsa love! :))
I don't how to say this but videos like yours that are straightforward and cut into sections are the best it keeps me interested and not get bored I wish everyone do it like this.
I agree, stress about money is, but stress about currency isn’t a fundamental of human existence. If you think about it, money is something that is used for trade, for example, a bread for a sheep. But currency took money to a level which I don’t like because you’re not getting paid for the amount of work for society you put in. For example, bankers are getting paid far more than garbage collectors. The way money worked before the agricultural revolution was far more honest.
ali i am no more watching your videos for content i am watching it because , after i complete your video there is a sense of discipline arising in my mind which makes me more productive !! thank you
On your suggestion, I read MistBorn and I am COMPLETELY hooked. Just listened to the audiobook by GraphicAudio uploaded by someone on RU-vid. Already completed The Well Of Ascension (part 2) with a binge session yesterday night 😂 I love how not a lot of Book Club-Books aren't mentioned. You're really amazing Ali. And all are super cool books, would definitely read them as we enter into 2021. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. ❤️
I can't quite put my finger on it but I really enjoy hearing what you have to say about these books. Thank you for sharing with us! I'm definitely adding "The Righteous Mind" to my list of to-reads!
Gosh so many good book recommendations! I hope I can read half of the books you recommended here for next year. I'm literally still reading books you recommended in 2019.... anyways Merry Christmas and happy holiday Ali and everyone else!
Have you read The Fifth Season? I don’t read fiction, let alone fantasy/sci-if, but I picked this up when I learned the trilogy is the only trilogy to have won the Hugo award 3 years in a row. It gripped me, and has a great twist. Highly, highly recommended.
As a mother of a five year old boy, I wonder if you could share some stories about what parenting style your mom had that help you to be who you are today. Thank you in advance!
Wheel of Time series is one of my favs!! One of my favs non fiction books...every year I re-read is Prisoners of Geography. Defo one to add to the list.
Seeing as you enjoyed War Doctor I would really recommend your read Moving Mountains by Claire Bertshinger. Claire was a nurse for the International Red Cross/Crescent movement. The main focus of the book is around her experiences in Ethiopia during the 1984 famine. She was the nurse who inspired the Live Aid relief programme. It also discusses her experiences in Afganisation, Sudan and so on.
The Wheel of Time is one of my go to fantasy series for rereads. I have also read Elantris(loved that and feel it’s underrated) and Mistborn era 1(also super good). Just finished the first book (Alloy of Law) in the second Mistborn era and it definitely stands on it own
Great video man. Quick question. After reading so many productivity books and self optimization books do you still find you get equal value from each new read? Or does it get repetitive after a while?
Thank you for the recommendations. Yesterday I started "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" by Donald Miller and I am finishing it today! Great book! :) Looking forward to checking the other ones :)
paying off my mortgage was one of the best things i ever did, and has unleashed the confidence within me to take some much greater risks, not to mention, it has given me an inner peace ive never experienced. i will spontaneously experience a wave of joy when it hits me again that I am not owned by a bank. I didnt realise just how much having such a financial burden was weighing me down.
On the first book and the author's realisation that he hadn't encountered enough conflict; Celine Sciamma, who wrote and directed Portrait of a Young Lady on fire, gave a lecture for the BFI (available on YoutUbe) about how her story actually tries to break away with this convention in writing, and trying to build substance through an avenue that's not necessarily conflictual. As someone who writes, it's something I've asked myself a lot - is conflict really the only way to make a story interesting? Sciamma's lecture meanders a bit and I think I'll have to listen to it a few times to really appreciate what she's saying, but it's an interesting counter view point! Anyway, super vid as always
I love Celine Sciamma! She has such a unique and intelligent perspective when it comes to writing. I wish she was more recognized because I think she is just as brilliant of a writer, even better, than certain writers who have won Oscars. And the fact that Portrait of a Lady on Fire didn’t even win a Caesar award but Roman Polanski did was such a disservice and the fact that Portrait of a Lady on Fire didn’t even get nominated for an Oscar is insane to me!! I think that movie is definitely a potential to being a classic and if that movie was a book I have no doubt in my mind that it would be a classic
wow your choice is awesome you also read the wheel of time ... . active recall and spaced repetion everyone knows but was always ignored but watching your videos made me religiously follow it and there is considerable increase in result.keep making more videos on how to survive medical school ....your videos are a reason for my increase in typing speed.thanks a lot.........
Oh my gosh, you read Six Of Crows! I just had to put that out there because it definitely is one of the highlights of my 2020, book-wise. Nonetheless, cheers to 2021!

I just Got into this incredible & interested Channel. Honestly, all the Books you have recommended are truly wonderful, mann. I like to read, but I don't have any interest in reading. I get tired so fast, and it's not because I don't like it, but because I don't have much feeling anymore. I believe this Channel would help me a much better! You're absolutely doing a great job. Cheers bro. RESPECT 🙌
I've been binge watching your videos doc! I think it improved my vocabulary just by listening to you. On top of that, I learn a lot of life skills! Excited to download some of your recommendations!
You remind me of my chiropractors they were so advanced in their methods and techniques and great at psychology. I have a cousin in London she's a medical school in Manchester and I hope she does well like yourself and my other cousins did well studying in UK in architecture. I feel I will improve myself by listening to you. So thank you for inspiring me.
I was searching for some good books to read in my free time in 2021.. Then I just found this video... Thank you So much... 😊 💖🎊🌨🎇✨Merry Merry Christmas🎄🎉🎁☃️
Thanks for all your hard work in 2020 Ali. It’s great to watch a channel that is consistently purposeful and always delivers its message with clarity. Happy Christmas to you and yours, and greetings from Iceland 🇮🇸
These are some nice reads. Natives by akala is definitely in my reading list and the righteous mind sounds good especially since I'm heavily involved in politics and the psychology of money sounds good aswell. And I love your videos by the way.
Thanks Ali! I just started Matthew Dicks’s Storyworthy and got to his Homework for Life assignment. His Tedtalk of the same assignment topic is inspiring and I will start working on it. Thanks for sharing!
You've got me curious about the How to Think More About Sex book. Your description seems similar to how most men talk about The Game by Neil Strauss -- on the surface it's about how to pick up women, but on a deeper level it's about confidence, masculinity, and communication styles. I'll check it out!
