Mod List can be found here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2797044922 Feel free to jump around in this one! This one is a bit longer because I really dive into Node Controller, Network Multi-tool, TM:PE, Upgrade Untouchables, and Network Skins.
@@alexanderdrechsel6858 That's an interesting mod, but not one that I've gotten very far into. I believe that @WillCS has a tutorial on it, though. Look him up!
Hello Bro, cool Video !! However I'm wondering Trafic Manager Seems to Funtion properly with your game. I don't Know I tried Installing Reinstalling the Mod it still does not Funtion. Any suggestions ?? I don think thee Mod is Corrupt not sure. or could be a compatilité Anomaly
Not sure if you’re aware, but the “unlock segment” function of the network multi tool also allows you to upgrade a road in front of a ferry/harbor or any of those roads. Happy modding!
@7:00 I have learned the hard way never to clear traffic. It resets EVERYTHING, including your mass transit--so all your bus, metro, monorail, rail, etc. has to respawn. Consequently, cims end up queueing at stops, etc. It takes a while for things to return to normal. Watching Biffa helped me learn how to troubleshoot while traffic is moving. Just a thought.
TM:PE is really one of those mods that should be in the base game. The lane connector tool is really a doozy in cleaning up congested traffic! As Biffa would say, "You go there, you go there, you go there, and you go there." Because sometimes lane mathematics is not enough!
A note about the clear traffic button: BE CAREFUL WITH THIS BUTTON. I cleared traffic a few times while working on some rail backup and I dropped 100k in population, because I screwed up ALL TRANSIT RELATED FUNCTIONS--freight, harborworks, planes, cars, buses...all of it). Screwed up supply in the city for months and people flocked out. Lost 44k in one week
Wow, you could do these mod explanation on commission! Perfectly thorough and easy to understand, but your energy and relatable examples set you apart from others!
yes! amen and bless that person who made this swiss army knife of a tool. I especially like the ability to create slopes and highway ramps. looks so professional with this mod.
Wanted to finish the whole series first, but thank you for all of your work man. This whole series is awesome and you have me hooked back into CS in a major way. Keep up the great vids!
Been watching for quite a while & grew up in Wisco. I am stoked you put out a more recent video like this one covering these. I know you probably feel like you have covered the same mods/things multiple times, but it's appreciated every so often by even the long-time viewers. Cheers bud.
It just amazes me howcome the game was out in 2015 and they still did not implement most of those mods into the base game. Most of them make perfect sense and fix SO MANY game's problems it's ridiculous. I'm starting playing the game again and I'm not going into it without those mods ever. Thanks for detailed review!
Thought I was getting the hang of things on my build and then I watch this and realise how much more I've got left to do! My playlist is on video 34 and I feel like I'll be going to 1034!! Awesome stuff tho! Keep the videos coming!
I almost wish you had done the starter videos with the mods enabled so we could have learned a full city build with it. Feels so weird to play without them after using them even for a day.
Undo it is also an accessibility mod for those of us with (for example) jittery hands (either because of medication, condition, or disability). Through no fault of our own, sometimes we'll be trying to drag something and will accidently click if our hand twitches. Undo it is a complete necessity for people with this issue.
Would it be possible to have an episode on how to respect the terrain and terraforming? I find too often that I try to be respectful of the terrain but still end up with jaggies or with completely unorthodox road layouts and would like to get better at it.
Perfect companion to the first video about mods. I think you've covered the most important/popular mods. And although I've been playing for a long time I even learned some new things. That's why you're the best CS content creator on RU-vid!
Great video! I was wondering, though, is there any chance of an updated version of this with a new list created on the steamcommunity site? I'm asking because several of the mods you list on your linked page both here and in the beginner video are flagged by the Compatibility mod as having issues. I'm slowly working my way through the various suggestions there, but I figured it might be useful to everyone if the list of recommended mods in both videos were updated to reflect current compatibilities, etc. Thanks again for posting these; I've really been enjoying your various videos!
Underground power mod would be fantastic, because big cities have underground power. I wish base game would have this. Make the underground power cost a bit more to install, but it can be put alongside your water. Don't change how power is delivered or connected, but seeing all the power lines looks bad in small stretches, cleaning those small stretches up with underground wire would be so nice. Now if this mod exists perfect, move along nothing to read here and sorry for posting!
You left out twist in the Node Controller. I discovered it from Two Dollar Twenty (??) When he gave his explanation on how to make his roller coasters. I use it to make banked turns. Especially on freeways, on and off ramps, and flyover and transition ramps on interchanges. I try not to go more 5⁰ either direction.
This game + all the city planning channels made think about my career path, because I am study at law school, but I realized I wanna be a urban planner.
One annoying thing with the node controller is that when you have really smooth and large nodes the game sees them as slower roads because it takes longer for a vehicle to pass. Even with no traffic congestions, I can get only 80-85% flow.
That's Intersection Marking Tool for those who are new to mods. Yes being able to save and copy/paste what you did from one intersection to another can save you a lot of time!
Here's what I want to do but have yet to find a solution without having to use Move It! I want to use the roads with integrated track for railroads so I can have street running trains. It's still a thing in some parts of the US and back in the day it was in alot of industrial areas but in places like New York, they actually had passenger station pickups in the middle of the street if you look at some historical photos of the New York Central.
I think you'd have to find some roadway network that has the train track built in, like a tram. I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there!
Greetings @@CityPlannerPlays and @D_L Not sure it is something like this, being we don't have stuff like that where I live, but Overcharged Egg made something with tram lines and roads and Node Controller where he has a tram line straight up to a road and it going along the road through the same single node intersection ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1kBxJuISwsI.html&ab_channel=OVERCHARGEDEGG
54:00 was just urban renewal, wasn't it? (funny coincidence too with University city in Philly being an act of urban renewal, well, as funny as displacement of homes and residents can be)
I have a question, sense I am down this rabbit hole of mods, with the current prop anarchy, tree anarchy, node controller and network multitool. Is mods like prop precision and prop line tool still needed? I ask because I have them all and just wondering if I need all of them or if the current versions of the anarchies, node controller and the multitool is enough/ does the same stuff?
Undo It is THE mod I use the most, Precision Engineering is absolutely indispensable! Skyve constantly nags me about Undo It being old, unsupported, blablablah and yet, it still works great. I don't think at this point a new patch/DLC to the game will be released (since they are all concentrated on that CS2 dud), so it won't be needing updating. Best use ever: undo a workshop intersection plopping gone wrong :D Great list of mods: some of my super favourites are not here but I agree 100% with all your choices. Thank you very much for adding examples of mod use; especially node controller and network multitool examples were excellent for me, because I'm still learning to use them, and many of their capabilities are still a mystery to me. 🤔❣
Hello, in a lot of your video you have a lot of road types. I thought it was network extension but it doesn't give me more types. Like collector road with trams in the middle. I have mass transit DL. But don't have these roads.
I'm coming back to CS after a long break and have been watching this excellent playlist. Someone on the beginner's mod list video updated the list a year agao, so I thought I would update it as of March 2024. #5 - Prop and Tree Anarchy and Tree Anarchy - While it looks like Prop and Tree Anarchy is still available, it hasn't been updated in quite a while. Tree Anarchy is no longer available. Prop Control and Tree Control look to be the best replacements. #8 - Find It! - This is no longer available and has been replaced by Find It! 2. #10 - Building Themes - This is also gone from the workshop. District Styles Plus may be a viable alternative but its description states that it is in alpha AND is looking for a new dev to take over. I don't use it so I don't know how well it works. #15 - Compatibility Report - I just thought I would mention that it looks like most people now use Skyve for all their troubleshooting needs. Many mods also mention using it to see if their mod plays well with all the mods you already have installed. Hope this helps others!
I just bought the bundle pack of city skylines on steam and just about every mod doesn't work anymore. I used quite a few on an older version and didn't have any issues. Just wanted to give a heads-up that most of this video is already obsolete now. Which is quite discouraging .
2:50 When I do that it works while I'm playing. If I exit the game however, restart and go back to my save - the arrows have changed back to how they where from the start. Am I the only one having this problem or am I doing something wrong?
our first day on vacation in Egypt , a very enthusiastic local taxi driver took a U-turn on a round-about instead of going around to make the right turn very scary, very
as you said, theses mods should be in the original game. the game is interesting because of theses mod. and the problem is, it's not about 1 or 2 mod that "fixes" the game, but more about 30 to 50. and all theses mods together creates malfunctions and conflits. for me the game without mod is very similar to simcity, the only difference is that simcity doesn't have 81 tiles and all lthat cool stuffs, because it's on EA's platform instead being more open source, through steam.
TM:PE needs to be in the Base game. i love playing on PS4 but i miss that mod more then anything. Traffic AI are brain dead in comparison to the TM:PE mod
Be careful with the despawn option. I desabled the despawn option and it made my train never dispawned and then all my train network was full. Because in the game when a train hit the end of the map, the game made it despawn. So juste be carefull
I'm at 26:30 right now and I'm thinking to myself that humans...PUNY HUMANS that is, are who created all of these amazing tools. Somebody thought about "angles of attack" and all kinds of amazing stuff when they designed Network Multitool, Node Controller, and TM:PE, among all these other tools and more! Not only should my cities all look a hundred times better than they do (because I have all of these tools already), all of our REAL LIFE cities should look a hundred times better than they do, because many city planners play the game the world over. If they're all doing their jobs, we shouldn't have any more traffic jams by 2026, right? I think that should be enough time, don't you? 😏
If anyone here has this issue or knows the solution, then please let me know. I have also checked on the steam forum, but no one has a solid solution to this problem. So, a few months back my game stopped working. I play on a laptop and nothing from the hardware changed. Whenever I try to load any of my saved cities the game just stops loading at 75-80%. I tried unchecking DLCs and unsubscribing mods, but the issue remains. I tried the loading screen mod and the game completed loading, but then it just shows me a blank screen, and nothing works. If anyone has any solution to this problem, please let me know. I am on the verge of crying as I am unable to play the game any longer and I might have to say goodbye to all my saved cities. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I wish I could have, but there was an issue with the 81 tiles mod. I added it early on by accident, removed it before Airports DLC, then added after. The result is that all of the districts break if I add it back into the build, including the airport. So I'm basically out of space at this point without doing a significant amount of work to fix everything.
What is your logic here? Anarchy doesn't effect income, population, need for services, or any other mechanism aside from how awful the in-game builder/placer makes things look. Earnestly curious!
its not cheating. its just expanding the game mechanism basics to be more realistic for example in regards to european urban planning and street layouts..
@@Marsydotpng For me the biggest challenge is to build your city, while keeping the traffic flowing. A lot of times the game will not allow me to build the traffic solution I had in mind. So for me the biggest struggle is to build my junction, while sticking to the rules of the game. From what I've seen from these anarchy mods, is that you can by-pass all that and just 'plop' it in. To me that feels a bit like cheating. Like I said in the first comment. I'm fine with things looking a bit 'horky-borky', so I'll just stick with my super vanilla version of the game.
