Fair warning If your coming on the weekends, the traffic is ridiculous. Highly recommend renting a beach cruiser. South Lake the city is small. All you will need a car for is Emerald Bay/Eagle Falls area but if you go there make sure to be there before 9am or you will have no parking. Enjoy our City my friend!
Such a beautiful and interesting video! Last time we explored the lake from south to Emerald Bay. This time we are planning to travel from south -east to North.( Zephyr cove, etc) Please tell me there are no crazy roads on that side, such as 89 to Emerald bay,(windy, steep from both sides with no railing )or do we need to be prepared for something like that? Thank you!😀
haha yes emerald bay road can be pretty scary the first time you drive it! I think thats the only one like that! the only other one I can think of is HWY 41 which it doesnt sound like you are going on
Great video! You gotta earn it but a hike to the summit of Mt Tallac rewards you with the best view of Lake Tahoe and the interior of Desolation Wilderness
Thank you! Mt Tallac hike looks awesome and definitely strenuous...I’ve done Maggie’s peak which has similar views but is a little easier 💙....def gotta do some more hikes like that this summer!
Amazing video Gabriella, tomorrow is my last day in Lake Tahoe and this video convinced me to spend it in Lester Beach. My plan is to get there at 10am, do you think that's too late to find a good parking spot? Or do you think I should go earlier? By the way I'm in the north side of Lake Tahoe, do you know of a nice place that you would recommend to watch the sunrise?
10am should be fine …if parking is full you can always park on the road and hike down …it is an extra two miles but it’s a good workout (at least that’s what I tell myself )😎😎……there are a couple of piers that open to the public which are great spots to catch the sunrise …or there eagle rock ..which is a very short hike overlooking the northwest shore
I'm visiting South Tahoe in 2 wks. Do you think it's worth it to visit Glen Alpine Falls or any waterfall at that time? Would they all be dry? Also we are renting a boat and kayak to explore Emerald Bay. Could we access the trails and other attractions in Emerald Bay from the water? Love your beautiful and informative videos!!
I think Glen Alpine Falls is usually pretty dry in the fall depending on the year...i usually go in the spring and summer...renting a boat and exploring emerald bay and the rubicon trail area sounds amazing

@@milescorp6237 oh those are two of my favorites I just didn't include them because this video was on the South Lake area. ...i consider those east shore....
Does the gondola run all year long ws gou say? When i look online tickets arent available for the month we wre going, October. And I find conflicting info because some say it closes after September, some say its open?? Thanks
Gabriella, Thanks for your video, it really helped me plan my trip, from where to go and where to stay. My wife and I are very grateful as it was our first anniversary, I even downloaded it for better use on the road. I also did the Flume Trail MTB ride ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ejxb1kH1Pnw.html. Thanks again for your videos of that beautiful place.
Hi I am Sanjay from India. I plan on visiting South lake Tahoe on Christmas 2022. Can u pl share any videos u may have done for winter-things to see and do..also points that can be left out due to snow Many thanks
I lived in South Lake for about a year and a half from 98-99. It's been 20 years since I was last there. We'll be there in late June through Independence Day. I told my wife it will take her a few minutes to take in just how beautiful it is when she first looks out at that wondrous scene.
Sorry to say I apologize and I hope you except my apologies or don't but I'm glad they're taking out the Kmart because South lake Tahoe is not a shopping place to go shopping is skiing boating and that kind of stuff there shouldn't be a big shop store up in here makes no sense it just brings more traffic and more more English and more it needs to stop it needs to be a lazy little town like it was not this shopping hub go to Jackson California or go to Carson if you want to go do major shopping.
palisades at tahoe , tram ride to near top and swimming pool. hike up for free ride down tram . even with a dog but that might have changed. old CEO liked dogs.
@@GabriellaViola only use tram and pool/hot tub when tourists or skiers crowd the place, not between seasons. can't walk up in winter. tram up and pool aren't free , neither is roller/ice skating
Whats the water temperature in the lake? We'll be there in about 2 weeks. I've never been in that area or any area like that before. Water temp here is usually 85-90 degrees (south Louisiana)
Ha it’s much colder ...I don’t know the exact temp but probably in the high 60s ...I always stick to the shoreline and coves when swimming ...it’s nice on a hot day!
@@GabriellaViola Russell, Gabriella is right, the average surface temperature of Lake Tahoe in the summer is 63 degrees. If you dive down just 18 inches it can drop to 53 cold degrees, so I would suggest that you swim at the surface. Brrrrrrr but invigorating !
Thank you for your great videos. They are very helpful and well done. My girlfriend and I are going to South Tahoe mid July for a getaway and I'm going to pop 'the' question...do you have a suggestion for a nice spot at sunset to take a knee?
Absolutely….Cave Rock in South Lake Tahoe is a beautiful spot and a prime sunset spot with beautiful views of the lake…it’s a short hike about 12 minutes …I also notice people do engagement shoots there ….congratulations!!!💍
I will be visiting there Oct 18-21. are the colors still in the trees? What would you suggest doing this fall time?Forecast looks chilly!Where would i find the best happy hour around Tahoe? Is Blackwood canyon open to Barker pass? Would appreciate any suggestions you might have.
That is a great time see fall colors…that’s usually when I go out and look for them. Here is a guide a made on where to see fall colors in Lake Tahoe: www.gabriellaviola.com/post/top-places-to-see-fall-colors-in-lake-tahoe
@@GabriellaViola Thanks so much for responding so fast. Barker pass is at the end of the road that goes into Blackwood canyon which is close to Homewood off 89. Heard it might be still closed cuz of the fire.I use to live in Rubicon Bay for a year in 1977 but work took me to Sacramento.Spent every summer there in the 60s and 70s as my parents owned a house in Rubicon.DON'T EVER LEAVE!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT !!! DO you have a favorite bar in Stateline? Preferably not in casinos .
Hahah it’s funny I’ve been considering relocating but it’s hard to find a place that tops tahoes beauty and easy accessibility once your here. I don’t know if I have a favorite but I do like that speakeasy in the back of social house …I think it’s called the community bar
Thank you for the video. My wife and I and my sweet little dog are going to South Lake Tahoe in about 3 weeks. We're both older now so we won't be doing any hiking but will be taking a car trip and looking at some of the sites thank you
Hi Gabriella! We are going there on the last week of Sep. I heard all the parks are generally packed during summer and holidays. Do we need to be there before 7AM to be able to get into the park (esp Sand Habor)?
hello, honestly i tend to avoid SH in summer and early fall...i go there in the winter and spring but it sounds like in end of Sept you should be fine in terns of the crowds
Hi! Thanks for your video. We are planning on visiting Tahoe this Spring or summer. Where is the best place to stay that is close to most of these places?
Before i lived here i always stated in Stateline, in south lake tahoe. lots if hotel options for every budget and its central and walkable to bars and restaurants!
Thank you so much for such an informative video!! I didn't know that Eagle falls was divided into upper and lower eagle falls! I definitely want to go to Lower eagle falls but can't see on the map which way to go from Vikingsholm. Is there a way to find the directions somewhere? Thank you!
Your best video. Glen Alpine falls looks amazing! Did not know about D.L. Bliss. I've been to Fallen leaf. Very impressive. I think I've been to Valhalla. Does it have that Giant fireplace?
Thanks so much Tom! It was my first time visiting DL Bliss..can't believe I've never checked it out before!...I dont recall a fireplace at Valhalla, I know there is one at Chimney Beach though!
@@GabriellaViola I just Googled it. It's in the main building. look at "valhalla tahoe venue" and you'll see it. It's a vision that stuck in my memory since childhood.
Hi Christian, I don't know much about the camping situation because I have never camped in Tahoe....also there might be issues with campfires, I am not sure if they are allowing them in Tahoe due to the drought. I do have to say that the campsites at DL Bliss look amazing in terms of the location. If I was going to camp in Tahoe, that is where I would want to do it!
Hi! I’m just checking on things near Lake Tahoe due to the fires. Very sad! Are you ok? Have you evacuated? Is it as bad as the news reports say? Our family has a vacation scheduled there for August 16-23.
Hi, i just got into Tahoe today actually...it doesn't look too bad, especially compared to last year..but yes there is some smoke haze in the air, but no where near as bad as carson city is right now ..i should know more in the next few days..
@@GabriellaViola oh nooo!! Our airB&B is in Carson city. I’m glad you’re safe! Thanks so much for the info!! Hopefully it’ll all be cleared up in the next 3 weeks. 🤞🏽
@@GabriellaViola nice, I've been here for most of my life and I haven't done half the things on this list.. your videos give me some ideas.. now time to try avoiding the swarm of tourists! 😆
@@GabriellaViola Good decision! I lived near Harvey's b4 - lots of drunks screaming happily outside my window at night.. I live at the Y now. Almost too quiet at times lol
