You can also grind for 10 years not get any results because you keep doing the same wrong things. Grinding is useless if you don't make correct decisions

We've got to zoom out and realize how far we've come from time to time. It's easy to fall for the shiny success of other creators. But we're learning and growing. Our goal is just to create videos for the friends we meet as we travel the world. Let's see if we can last a year at uploading two videos per week. So far so good.
I have been making videos since October 2016 on one of my other channels. I have 150 vids now. I just got monetized last month. I have 2400 subs. If I were to upload consistently I would have been monetized long ago but Im not to worried about it as one of my videos from 2018 has done very well for me and I monktized it in a different way. I linked some items with the Amazon Affiliate program in the description of that video and made a little pocket change. After a couple years of constantly earning change regularly, I decided to make a website and sell that product myelf. I've been selling that product for a couple years now and have earned between $5k-10k mostly from traffic from the link I put in that video description. Now my channel is mainly geared toward this product and helping people out with their questions. It's an aquarium product.

Even though this topic is for people starting out, I found it super helpful as someone who’s been here for a while. Roberto, you give the absolute best advice on how to negotiate through the ecosystem here. I’m older and have a lot of family and life responsibilities so my consistency hasn’t been the greatest. I’m working on that and working on being more relaxed in my delivery on camera. I still feel weird about it, but I’m going to keep going. My audience is older so don’t respond to a lot of crazy edits, but I have cut out those longer intros and get right into things now. Thank you as always for your insight and well written information. Those live streams are a literal master class on how this works.

The analytics are mostly over my head, but I do my best to pay attention. I bought your book and I'm so excited to start reading it and learning more about growing as a creative online. I do believe the older population is an underserved population on youtube. So I've leaned into my natural hair color and not trying to be someone I'm not. Tutorials on using transitions and overlays in Final Cut would be super helpful. I would pay for a class on using animated overlays. I bought some and I cannot figure out how to get them to work on the M1. The fancier looking graphics for subscribe and like prompts really jazz up a simpler video without needing jump cuts or weird sound effects every 4 seconds.
@@RobertoBlake it was pre-Casey and Pre- mr Beast and most of this channel too but i learned that it’s fun for me to be creative and just more personal growth of what i love to do. Learning from the channel itself there would be so much i would change. From story telling, instructional, experiences, types of blogging, etc about the things this channel is open about. It’s hard 100%, time consuming, doubt yourself so many times, the struggles are real. Why did it fail? I was a kid. Didn’t know much about social media then, i just wanted to make videos. Then life hit and i needed a job and money and more responsibilities. No time to post. Will i do it again… absolutely. This time with more purpose. Plus the many tools and content creators helping now i believe it will be so much more fun.

If I started a youtube channel for my construction business my goal I would assume would be to target locally. Is it smart to target locally therefore limiting my growth substantially but could grow my business revenue?
Well Roberto, 220,000 new viewers in 90 days and only 220 subscribers from those. Pretty sure my channel sucks. I could be wrong. RU-vid is a strange world.
Thanks Roberto, my math was wrong also… it’s 32,000 new viewers and 220 subscribers out of those. I do realize that my audience numbers are small in my niche. I’m not giving up, it’s just slightly frustrating compared to the time and effort we ALL PUT OUT.

Are are we supposed to drive traffic or get videos on our regular videos when RU-vid only wants to push out Shorts? It's aggravating getting 1k views on a Short but they don't come to the channel or watch other videos

I’m 45+ and have been CONSISTENT WEEKLY over 4 years, I spend countless hours to learn, improve but still only 3k sub small channel I understand the theory of algorithms but can’t seem to grow my CTR. My AVD is good though So do I make title catchy or rather specific to a 40y old who wants to quit their job and be their own boss? I mean that’s what my channel is about, but what titles will make them click? I just can’t nail it. Any suggestions?

The quality and depth of your tips are so much higher than other similar channels! Thank you so much for your wonderful videos. Your point about offering only one choice at the end of a video is so smart, and I can't believe I didn't realize it until watching your content. My day job is in fundraising, and for years I've tried to tell people to only put ONE link in email fundraising appeals (everyone always wants to put links to publications, impact reports, etc). If someone is going to click on a link at all, they are probably only going to click on ONE link. So make it the most important one! Put a giving link to make a donation and that's IT! You don't want to distract people!
About picking the audience, there's still the language/geography thing. RU-vid may recommend your content to countries where people don't care and nonetheless click OR end up letting it start during the "watch next" viewing session, then bailing out. That hurts retention and kills a bit of the avatar concept. The great thing that I don't remember seeing on RU-vid is that the Studio app version is showing which thumbnails are performing better. That's an awesome tool. About the language issue, removing the auto-generated captions brought some of my old videos to life again.
I've been working on a kids youtube channel with my daughter. It's called Hiccups and Friends. The first video was bad. All of our videos need work lol. Two videos in a row i imported the file with the wrong dimensions and didn't notice till i was done editing. What could have went wrong went wrong but that's okay. We've been at it for about 3 months now or so and our videos are getting slowly better. It's honestly an obnoxious amount of fun learning and improving. We have 55 subs as of this comment. I appreciate your videos because I've used some of the tips you mention in them.
