15 Ways to Fill Large Spaces on Your Island // Animal Crossing: New Horizons 

I love these but they also make me wonder, am I just absolute trash at decorating???

I love overgrown islands. I just can’t do it myself because my brain can’t comprehend how to make it looks good and not messy 😭😭😭 I end up with an island too structured not but structured enough. It’s like a suburban town and that’s the best I’ll do 😶

Mentally trying to decide what part of my island I’m going to destroy after watching this video before it even started 😂

Some of my ideas/Stuff I’ve seen: Tree orchard- plant several types of trees in a row and create signs to go in front of each row..terraform waterfalls/create paths/add mushrooms to make an aesthetic and add small items like a wheelbarrow, commissioned bug sculptures, silo, light posts, direction signs, fencing, windmills etc. Flower field- organize by color or flower type and add the same items above to add extra depth..replant into shapes or patterns, garden gnomes are a cute touch Scuptures or picturesque spots- create “gathering areas” with sculptures, stone hedges, mushrooms, sitting areas, fountains, etc. Water park or amusement park- add items from nook miles shop-I.e. teacups, Godzilla, pool, etc.-and create pathways, add special lighting, add water pathways or flooring to make it look like an actual pool and terraform a waterfall down into some of them..add rocks, slides, decor, etc. Picnic areas or sitting areas- Create a cute sitting area with tables and chairs or lay out a rug with dishware and food items and a vase of flowers Activity areas/parks- Add items from nook miles shop-I.e. jungle gym, soccer goals, etc. Beach area or beach party- Set up hammocks, beach chairs, sandcastles, caught turtles or pretty shells, dj area or radio, sitting spots, strategically placed trees Lighthouse- Set up a light house and a lookout spot with some seating and a fire maybe add a springy ride on Shopping district- Place shops close together and add vending machines/springy ride ons in a fenced in area to look like a shopping center Music pavilion: Set out a bunch of instruments and lighting and set it up to look like a concert hall Extra tips: pick an idea and run with it! The key is to add a ton of tiny details (adding a wheelbarrow to a flower field looks like someone probably works there it adds to the scenery/story) to really make it pop. Have different themes in each area of your island if you want to. There are no rules and you don’t have to make it like everyone else’s! If you need ideas watch videos like these, get on Pinterest, or dream! You can walk around those islands and get tons of ideas for both inside and outside and plus you get a dream bell ticket you can sell the next day!

This is what makes this game amazing. We all find so many different ways to create entirely different experiences with the same set of tools and space. Love these compilations, so much inspiration!

I WAS doing a “Fairycore City” theme, BUT it my island was kinda plain and I added too much dirt pathing. So yeah yesterday I flattened the parts I decorated and now I’m doing “Lunar-Starry-Fairy-Cottage” theme. I’m gonna need a LOT of star clocks 😂

its such a shame i have to share my island with my family cause idk what they wanna do sometimes like i wanna kick out the ugly villagers since we already exploited them. plus we didnt even get terraforming yet nor paths which is driving me insane because i can see my- my *vision* but i cant bring it to life before its too late, plus idek how all this decorating works. i get you have to craft a lot and it takes a lot of time and patience but can you move buildings even though they're already placed? ive heard if you move your house onto a villager's house theirs would be able to move wherever you'd like though idk if thats true. just this whole moving thing, thats my biggest issue because we placed down the museum and shops early on and i'd like to move them when the island gets terraformed because it looks hideous in that area. tbf the island just looks hideous in general because we have only 1 pretty villager so ofc alo their houses arent that pretty too (even if i have emotional attachments now) and we have 0 patterns on the ground to make the grass look textured, a bunny has seaweed in her home from god knows who and none of the bridges or inclines are similar, with the exception of a few grass inclines within the last few days. clearly everyone is going for different styles, my mom following a more chinese style (idk if that came out right), i want a gentle flowery fairytale princessy forest that would remind me of my childhood and ghibli, my sister isnt even doing anything when this is her island so my mom and i are basically forced to go on her acc to get anything for the island done and its just all around frustrating sometimes. not to mention we'd want to be able to shoot presents down and not have it be obstructed so thats another thing in on itself, just plain ol island efficiency. sorry this is just a rant i had to get off my chest and yeah i hope its ok that this exists in your comment section
