I love how jeremy plays clyde who is complaining here about planting seeds his whole life but jeremy also plays jack kelly who gets so excited about the concept of planting crops and basically doing manual labour forever
I think that no matter how you tell this story, this song can apply to this couple. They both wanted....just wanted....and they'd never really had anything in their lives but disappointment and let downs - drought and failed crops, a failed romance with an abusive husband, police who won't let you go straight even when you actually did try, the great Depression.....you understand what I mean when I say they wanted right?
they really did just want, and i find this musical becoming more and more relatable as america falls into depression again. crime rates keep increasing and this song as well as "Made in America" just hits so hard and is genuinely so real
I'm doing tech for this show right now at a local theatre and omg. Every time the little thing in the background (you know what I'm talking about) plays I get chills. It sounds so happy and circus like, but at the same time, it sounds so morbid. I'm so blessed to do tech for this show. It's one of my favorites, its so wonderful.
@@mayadargeon2172 Probably the Italian-waltz-sounding leitmotif that plays just after “What was always good enough…” that is reminiscent of “Que sera sera” and initially sounds as if it is played by a saloon/tack piano…
This song is sooo good. I didn't really notice it my first few listens through the soundtrack, but it's grown on me a lot since then. I'd say it's one of my favorites on the album.
Clyde: What was always good enough for you Pa, Hate to say ain't good enough for me, Ploughing fields and planting seeds, 'Till your mind and body bleeds, No way. Up before dawn and you stop when you drop, Then you ask your God to forgive, Prayin' for rain, without rain there's no crop, This ain't no way to live. What was always good enough for you Pa, Will not satisfy your wayward son, Jessie James had much more fun, Building dreams with just a gun, That?s how the West was won. Bonnie: What was always good enough for you Ma, Gotta say ain't good enough for me, Making punch and baking pies, Painting barns and swatting flies, Oh no. Writing a diary is tough around here, Boring as hell, sorry Ma, I wanna wear diamonds one stud for each ear, Bright as the morning star, What was always good enough for you Ma, Will not satisfy your little girl, More to life than potting plants, I don?t wanna miss my chance, I'm looking for romance. Clyde: This country has had its day, Depression and breadlines, Are all that tomorrow will bring. Bonnie: Tell 'em Clyde. Clyde: The Bible has got it wrong, Just look at the poor, Babe the meek don't inherit a thing. Together: There ain't nothing good enough for us, yeah, We deserve what we are going to get, This world should be notified, It's gonna be a bumpy ride, Thanks to Bonnie and Clyde
