The line "I can't name one movie star who's doing robberies on the side" is absolutely GENIUS. It expresses Bonnie's worry that she won't achieve her dreams but she simultaneously sounds so enraptured with the idea of doing something that nobody else has ever done, it's lyrical PERFECTION.
That's not what she means when she says that line. When Bonnie says this line she's worried that Clyde is dragging her into something that will ruin her life-long dreams of being a movie star. Before that line, she says, "you said you'd go straight, Clyde I wanna be in movies", so here she's reminding Clyde that he said he'll stop with the robberies, and then she says the line "I can't name one movie star who's doing robberies on the side", meaning that she can't be a movie star if they're doing robberies, so they have to stop doing robberies right after they get enough money for Hollywood. After that line she even says that "Hollywood is calling, how can I be in the spotlight, if we always have to hide[...]one or two jobs but after that, we will be done for good". So she's not enraptured at all with the idea of doing robberies, she's really stuck on her Hollywood dream and she's worried Clyde is going to ruin it, which is what actually ends up happening two songs later in "Too Late to Turn Back Now". So this line foreshadows her later inability to end up as a movie star because of her new life of crime.
@@pip1278 Well, she's in love with Clyde so that's what's keeping her, the robberies are not why she's staying. That's why in the song "Too Late to Turn Back Now", she tries to leave once she realizes how serious the robbery thing is getting.
But historical inaccurate Bonnie would have lept at being a movie star but she never strove for it. Kinda like wanting to be an astronaut as a kid. History states that Bonnie left that dream in the past Going to Hollywood was never a selling point made by Clyde
HIS VOICE.. my goodness.. I love Laura and she's the most amazing singer.. but Jeremy Jordan has this smooth tone that always gets me.. and his belting is always so resonant and well sustained.. He is pure perfection
These are the things I like about this: 1: The song itself its great, I really like the lyrics and music, especially, with the line "We are making damn sure that we'll leave our mark." 2: I'm always a sucker for Jeremy Jordan. 3: Laura Osnes has a pretty voice. 4: I'm always a sucker for musicals based on the 1930s-40s.
lyrics: [Clyde] Well who would have thought that a waitress from Rowena Would have had the balls to bust me out with my old 45? And who would have thought that a farm boy from Telico Could outsmart the smartest lawmen and walk outta there alive? My name is gonna make the hist'ry books. Too bad I won't be here. I may have started out with smalltime crooks. In a year or two I'll be as known as Chicago's Al Capone! [Bonnie] Bye, baby. [Clyde] See you soon, sugar. Thanks to you, Bonnie babe, I can make plans again. I've got lots o' reasons to keep livin' Its true that love can set you free, And this world will remember me. [Bonnie] You said you'd go straight. Clyde, I wanna be in movies. I can't name one movie star who's doin' robberies on the side. I know in my heart, babe, that Hollywood is callin', How can I be in the spotlight if we always have to hide? [Clyde] We'll need some dough to get to Hollywood. One or two jobs should do. [Bonnie] But after that we will be done for good. [Clyde] Babe, when Hollywood gets hold of you, theyll be sayin', "Clara who?" No need to rush! Everybody gets our autographs. "Hell of a Ride!" Will be the words on our epitaphs. [Both] Two livin' legends, that's what we will be. And thats okay with me! Every place that we go, folks will turn their heads. They'll be hollerin' from Dodge to Denver. We are the pair that they'll discuss. Yes, this world will remember us. We are makin' dang sure that we leave our mark. You don't leave your mark by digging ditches. No wonder we're who they'll discuss. Yes, this world will remember us. [Clyde] This dag world will remember us. [Bonnie] This cold world will remember us. [Both] No way they won't remember us!

Almost went over my data limit this past month from listening to this song TOOOOO much. What I would do to have Jeremy's voice. Gorgeous...simply gorgeous.
Laura Osnes came to the summer camp I work at tonight and sang for us!! I was so close to her! I cried for a good ten minutes out of sheer joy of hearing her live
That's so cool! Something similar happened to me but it was Ariana DeBose, she came to my school in 2018(I was 13 almost 14) and taught us some moves. I was sobbing because I was so excited and when she saw me crying in the back she came over and hugged me which made me cry even harder so I can definitely relate to your feels. :D
Just think, if there hadn't been a Bonnie, Clyde wouldn't have gotten were he did, and certainly wouldn't be as widly known. Just goes to show, behind every great man, as a great women. No Bonnie, no Bonnie & Clyde, and visversa
You are aware that they were Criminals who killed Nine Police Officers and Four Civilians, right? While I understand that it's cool, and am a fan of the Musical, these people shouldn't be praised, they were murderers, and perished as such.
Look up Varian from the new tangled cartoon. Same voice actor. Has two songs (and a repise) so far. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NQcrU_VwiQk.html
idkw I love this song, it might be cuz of his voice or her voice, or the melody or both. But one thing I know, when she says "bye baby" and he responds with "see you soon, sugar" I die and resuscitate at same time
I am so doing this for a talent show. I have a friend who would be a perfect Clyde. I so want to sing as Bonnie. I'm a mezzo, but I can get pretty high pitched.
This fricking amazing song from this amazing musical: *exists* Tiktok: hippity hoppity this is now my property I hate how this song was a meme for like a month ITS 👏 FREAKING 👏 AMAZING

I love his song, I kinda feel like when they say "the world will remember us/me" they mean different things. Like Bonnie means she'll be remember for being the best actress and a star. But Clyde means he'll be the best criminal and he'll be remember for all the bad he does. But I also think the both think theyre saying it for the same reason you know? Just my idea but yeah
This here is the superior version to the other, the slow rise to the impressive cresendo is a considerable improvement to the whiplash of the other. Honestly the song meant to start that's he's kinda of in shock, then slowly realizes it's real. The other version just starts way too fast and way too peppy sounding.
I have yet to find a good enough version of this to view, but I've always been curious about seeing it. Had a weird obsession with the story of Bonnie and Clyde when I was a kid.
Just played keys for this musical and this song had some of my favorite interludes that go under dialogue, it's a shame they're not in this soundtrack.
I mean I'm like literally related to Clyde, so like I feel bad that they went down that route, but like my family just has a natural dumbass gene that makes us do stupid stuff. Like I'm not sorry they died or anything and it always makes interesting conversation when I bring up the fact of "I'm actually rather closely related to Clyde Barrow" (especially since I live near Rowena) but I am sorry that they couldn't have lived a simpler life and that Clyde had to be a flamboyant dumbass like every guy in my family.
@@danielthebookaddict3041 He's my great great great uncle on my mother's side of the family. I don't know exactly which one of his siblings I'm descended from (he had like what, 5?) But I know we're definitely related.
Im in a Bonnie and Clyde musical and I wanted to hear how the songs sound and omfg this song and a few others a listened to omg wow these songs are soooooooooo good
