Kenya's Faith Kipyegon just broke the women's 1500m world record with 3:49.11 to become the first women to run the event under 3 minutes and 50 seconds at the 2023 Florence/Rome Diamond League meeting.
The two-time Olympic and World champion in the 1500m Kipyegon unleashed a blazing 59-second final lap to shave almost one second (0.96s) off Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba‘s world record set back in 2015.
