Not pathetic like the tactics in the men’s 1500m, in which - given the very slow early pace - anyone who wasn’t a very fast finisher wasted their time competing. Unless the slow pace was too fast (which seems highly unlikely) they didn’t come away with either a PB or even fast time. What was the point of being so passive?
