Apps have improved my catch rate no end I used them at chatton trout lakes I had 20 lost as many tight lines

It's done nothing but rain here, so thought I would tie some simple flies, which some of my subs have been asking me to do, plus I am tying some flies for a fishing trip later on the week, thanks for watching regards MD

Hi This is John from USA. I must have rerun your vedio 10 times and can't make out the name of that 100% fly. Your accent is killing. Could you just write it in your reply. I might be doing some pond fishing in the future and love to give it a try. A recipe would be "brillant"....I had a UK boss and used that word when I gave a talk on Peach flavors. Do you fish the ghost line 9 lb straight through or do yo use a lower breaking strain a few feet long thanks keep thr vlogs coming enjoyable

On this video its 7.8lb straight through, that's why it snapped as i would normally have 6ft 12lb from line then 5ft - 6ft 7.8lb to the fly. Should be 40%/40%/20% Regards MD

Going next week to Pennines to try it out for first time I’m I okay with a 6/7 wt fishing floating line on a bung indicator and a 7/8 wt intermediate line lures just starting out help much appreciated

Yes that's fine , squirmy wormy or dogs Bollocks under a bung, inter line lures, zonkers fast figure 8, or get some pennine biscuits off Steve in the hut on a 10ft leader and let it bob about on the water, ask Steve or Andy for advice tell them your new to the water, regards MD

Can I as is it best to use intermediate line for lures or floating just starting out fly fishing all help appreciate

I would use an inter line and count it down to different depths i.e let the line sink for 10 seconds and pull back, then if nothing takes it after a while, count it down to 20 seconds etc until you find the level where the fish are, sometimes I've been down at rock bottom before the fish take. On a floating line 12ft leader and slow figure 8 or pull it at different speeds if you want the fish in the top 4ft.

I used apps at chatton trout lakes in Northumberland I had 20 fish using floating line pulled back at different speeds to find out how the fish wanted it fast seemed to be best it was summer

Cheers for that NMO, red apps for me is a short pull and brown apps is a medium figure 8, but the green / olive apps is fast as you can and let the fish hook themselves around here. thanks for the comment and watching Regards MD

It is up here, I fish for wild trout, but that's only allowed during Mar - Oct quite cheep as well up north, but ££££ for a day ticket on some southern rivers. I was planning on a big stillwater over the weekend, but that's now gone due to snow and the waters location. Cheers for watching Regards MD

@@mdflyfishinguk5220 Excellent 👍 I fish for wild when I can but a decent amount of my time is spent on stocked trout. I live in the states and also chase steelhead, striper, small mouth and carp. Essentially anything with fins on a fly rod. I'm looking forward to tying and fishing the apps. Thanks for your video and instructions.
