Pro tip: you can run away as young star-crossed lovers without having to kill your parents, or indeed anyone. Such crimes never increases success rate.
True. I left home at 16yrs old. Not a great decision but better than hurting someone. It was hard. I landed on my feet by 23yrs old. Went to college while getting my ged. So things worked out well because I thought of others.
The fact he abused his daughter and then some and people believe his BS is mind blowing. The fact people don’t have discernment and lack logical reasoning is mind blowing. 🤷♀️
@Johnny Natural no excuses she knew exactly what she did. She chose that route. There are kids her age I myself NEVER had "quality time" with my parents ever I didn't turned out like her.
@@glow1815 you guys always take a moral high ground when you don't even know the situation. You aren't her, you don't know what was going on behind the scenes. So kindly shut the hell up.
Blood bond ?Say your kids hate you without saying it there is no such thing ....people are legit still think kids are property still in 2023 good luck with that .
I think the brutality of the crime should make the daughter ineligible for parole after 20 years. Stabbing is such an intimate violent act and she participated in stabbing her father 70 times. That is unreal and totally heartless. Is there rehabilitation for that?
The judge is just as dumb and easily manipulated as the dad in this case. The murder wasn’t enough for him to get that’s she’s psycho??? Ugh. Makes me lose faith in the legal system.
No there is not rehabilitation for that She is Sociopath,Narc and always will be Her pics say so much ...ugly outside because she is so evil on the inside She should never be released
“Once upon a time, there was a man named Daniel. His wife was a cheating scumbag, and his daughter was narcissistic sociopath. He was assaulted by the courts; stabbed to death by his own daughter; and set on fire by her boyfriend. His family SUCKED. The end.” RIP Daniel, and I hope his other son & daughter live a better life ❤️ So tragic & unfair.
He chose to stay with his cheating wife. That's mistake #1, just saying. I do feel awful for him, but staying in a relationship *knowing* they cheat, is absolutely the worst choice to make. Even if you have kids, *it's over*
I used to say “ Why can’t we all just get along?” Now I say “ Why can’t we just not kill each other?” Middle age has brought out my pragmatic side. Thanks Dr. Grande.
I feel like the best way to put it would be “why can’t we all just tolerate each other (without killing one another). I guess not killing is a sort of obvious condition of tolerance.
Running away would be SO much easier. Teens that kill their parents so they can run away just cant seem to grasp that they can skip that brutal step and just go. They always end up being caught rather quickly and now, because of murder, they've lost their freedom to a life sentence, and it's never worth it.
Running away or patiently waiting to turn 18 so she could move out ....are the ways normal teenagers think. She is probably (haven't researched much about this case) a psychopath and psychopathy urges them towards crime. It seems to me she was mentally troubled from the very beginning.
@@RadhaaischI think they pretty much dared each other to do it... people get away with murder every day but not doing it this sloppy,, they probably did it to steal his money and his car and were just too dumb to realize there's other ways of stealing money.. a car is a little tougher,, but I suppose this kids parents probably wouldn't take too kindly to having their 18 year old son move his 16 year old psycho girlfriend in...
@@micnorton9487 Perhaps! The fact that boy's parents were alerting the girl's family that these two are up to no good...speaks volumes. They could see things with more clarity and perhaps had better judgement. Yet, things went south. At least we know all the adults were 'super alert'... imagine ex-wife and mother of a 40 -something male start frantically looking for him because he didn't return phone calls....! They all knew....on some level!
Shocking that a daughter could do this to her dad. What must have been his thoughts when he woke to realize he was being murdered by his child? Ugh. Sierra is a psychopath
It is so awful... My dad was my best friend ❤ I miss him every single day! How could anyone possibly do something like that?!? Ugh- Makes my skin crawl.
If that man abused his daughter I hope he rots. There was something not right about that man. The fact she showed no remorse shows me her hatred for him.
@@tommymack4372 you're insane, he was murdered.. stop focusing on the man who nobody can prove a bad thing about. Instead focus on the no remorse evil daughter
Elizabeth has a lot to answer for for taking the children to Alaska. That made Daniel so vulnerable to Sierra’s later manipulation, as well as probably exacerbating her problems in the first place.
I agree, but I don't know what the answer is. Can divorced parents be forbidden to move more than, say, 200 miles away from each other? I mean, you really can't tell an adult they can't move wherever they wish, but when there are children and a second parent involved, it's just cruel to separate them like that.
@@retriever19golden55The problem is with the children. She can move wherever she likes but then she should give custody to him, her choice to go far means she has to bear the burden of traveling back to her children. I can't believe she got custody in the first place.
@@retriever19golden55 several friends had it written in divorce/custody paperwork neither parent could move out of state without approval of the other. I know of one that could not move out of county; and when she moved 1 1/2 hours away with 2nd husband and new baby; her ex filed for custody of their son and was awarded custody.
Are you serious?😮 Elizabeth had every right to remarry, move and live her life. The only responsibility she that is on her is cheating and not getting counseling for her kids. Both parents are responsible for allowing kids in adult business.
Real strategies criminals have used when trying to get away with murder: 1. Make sure there is plenty of surveillance footage of you purchasing body disposal equipment. 2. It is vital to dispose of evidence on your property or in a location that you are known to frequent. 3. ALWAYS keep your cellphone with you so that your every move can be traced. 4. Be sure to think of an implausible alibi that will be proven false by cellphone data and surveillance footage. 5. Make multiple google searches like: "My full name is ____________ and I just murdered ___________."
Couples should think long and hard before having children. Once you have children, it changes your life forever. Sometimes it's a blessing and sometimes, as in this case, it can be a nightmare.
@@VioletWings1353. Maybe she was raped and molested abused in every way imaginable for a child to kill their parent like that that’s probably what happened.

These two monsters deserve the same level of disregard and violence they laughingly dished out. I’m not a very good person, but allowing them to live seems like a disservice to humanity and an insult to the only true victim in this whole story, her father.
I would say her mother who had seen her grow up understood better what kind of emotions were hiding inside her. Her father didnt and was just happy to have her back, falling into the trap of affirmation, he wanted to show her he loved her so he let her darker side take a stronger hold over her as he fed her narcissism and gave fuel to her darker thoughts, even so much as saying "im willing to die for you" what he meant was that he was willing to surrender his life to save hers, what she heard was "ohh we can kill him and he wont mind very much".
The court system completely failed and faulted Daniel. What a train wreck. Extremely sad case and horrible end to his short life. His (ex) wife was so cruel, his daughter so callous. They completely disrespected him as a person and denied him his dignity. Even the judge.
I called her out as a psychopath and Narcissist from the beginning. That our father and the mother should feel some fault. She used her children as pawns. Not that child is a monster that should never be released. Min of only 22 years for such a heinous crime is ridiculous. She shall always be a danger to others. Perhaps in 21 years I’ll read if she’s patrolled. Excellent synopsis Dr Grande. Always enjoy your videos.
Geez. That guy was handsome and didnt seem too terribly crazy. I mean most people would not act perfect if thier spouse cheated. He just wanted to be loved by someone. In the end he had no one. Very sad.
We don’t know her side of the story. She remarried and stayed that way. He remarried and divorced a second time. He seemed to have some maturity issues for sure. Intentionally under employed to avoid paying to support his kids? That doesn’t seem like decent behavior to me. I don’t blame the woman for divorcing him when we don’t know why she was as driven to end the relationship. Her affair was wrong, but it doesn’t mean that the husband was not also partly to blame for the breakdown of the relationship
@@vicvega3614 In the beginning of the video, he starts his relationship with his future wife while she was still in high school, and he was 5 years older.
Really? You think you can tell who someone is by how good-looking they are? This dude was twice divorced and purposefully stingy with the child support. He doesn't sound so hot to me.
So many cases of kids committing parricide and familicide. I cannot count how many times I was angry with my parents growing up but I never thought to lay a hand on them, let alone injure or kill them.
I got locked up once my 1st psychiatric question why did you want too kill your dad ?I didn't never did I wanted step mom ...still do she tried too kill me twice I was like I'm in a mental ward with false charges labeled antisocial forever I really hate psychology .
There's a difference between being angry with your parents and being physically and mentally abused by them. I'm not saying it's a excuse for murder I'm just saying most people don't wanna think about both sides. Child abuse is major problem. This case stinks of it that's just my opinion.
@@tommymack4372 Your statement has nothing to do with this girl or her crime. She was neither mentally nor physically abused. As Dr. Grande stated she was a narcissistic sociopath who manipulated her father and normally got away with it. Once Daniel found out about her boyfriend being older and other frightening factors of their relationship, he put an end to it. She was a selfish brat who did not like being told no, so she and her boyfriend murdered him. There was also no remorse from her about her father's murder. She is right where she needs to be.
@@YouFilthyAnimal74 how do you know he wasn't abusive to her ?? That's probably why there was no remorse. What Dr grande said was just his opinion. She wasn't his patient. He may be right I just don't think so. There's more to the story there always is. You can have your opinion
@@tommymack4372 I'm sure if he would have abused her, she would have tried to use that as a defense as to why she murdered him or her lawyers would have tried and it would be public knowledge at this point. None of that has ever been said about Daniel and it's pretty crappy to assume that when you've heard no such thing about him. He was the victim, not her.
I feel so bad for Daniel, he was such a good dad from what we've seen. He really did have Sierra's best interest at heart. He only forbid her to see her boyfriend bc the pair planned to rob their families and run off. Him and the other parents noticed that their kids don't have the best influence on each other so they did the right thing and tried to stop it. And he was trying to be understanding with Sierra and her feelings too. But I fear that these two young people were too far gone at that point. My heart goes out for Daniel's family and friends, especially for his mom and his other two kids who have not only lost their father but their sister too...and found out that their little sister was a horrible person.
Why is EVERY person named Sierra just AWFUL? My niece, my sister's oldest daughter, is named Sierra and she is literally just the worst. Just terrible. I've yet to meet one person with that name that doesn't suck. Is that the new "Heather"?
Or you could be like me and everytime you hear of someone with your name or meet them, they seem to be like that. To make it worse, fictional characters with the name also seem to get the villain bat most of the time.
Poor Man. These teenagers are out of control. Just in case I needed More reasons to remain childless 😂 Just over 11 months sober 🥰😊 it's been a wild journey ❤ Thank you for entraintaining and educating us
How do two psychopaths find each other? I wonder how much of todays society is responsible for psychopathy. Everyone is so desensitised to violence, it’s disturbingly normalised. Human beings are becoming insane
Gotta tell you Doc. When I first clicked on a video of yours I was very sceptical about your calm voice and demeanor...glad I stuck around .,your channel content is amazing...👍
😢 I can’t stop tearing each time I hear or think about this tragic story. Daniel tried his best to do the right thing for his family but ended up becoming their victim. And he never gave up on his faith, in spite going through hell. May God grant his soul eternal rest, peace and happiness!
And after being a victim of his wife, too. I couldn't imagine moving to get a better job to provide for my wife, she wants to then get a job and starts cheating....Then wants 2.5k a month child support! JFC that's a crazy amount for half the money to raise a child..Then is killed by his daughter who uses sex as her way to get her bf to kill him. So horrible. I hope both those women go to Hell.
Horrifying. Not saying Daniel was a perfect guy, but this showcases how manipulated divorce courts and child custody laws are. If he was "willfully unemployed" how is he expected to pay 2300k/month. And if she was so concerned then why didnt she pay? I feel the mother manupulated Sierra wnd turned her against the father. Happens all the time unfortunately.
i mean, she clearly was, it shows with much their daughter wanted to stay away; she knew she would be restricted. the dad was a free pass by comparison in her mind.
I just googled in Dr. Grande. This murder took place 2 miles from my house. I hadn't heard this one, but Las Vegas is packed with this kind of morality.
After several broken generations of the traditional family structure, the kids are becoming more and more susceptible to cold hardiness, and when your friends have learned to live cold emotionless. It influences you to adopt the same traits… it begins to feel normal. Everyone else it doing it….
All cases of murder disgust me, but the ones that disgust me the most are when children kill loving parents who have done nothing wrong towards them. There are so many kids and even adults that wish that they had loving, caring, and supportive parents. Not only do these murderers never appreciate what they have, but they betray their parents in the worst way possible. You really have to be the scum of the earth to be able to do that
@@heav2582 I'm talking about the cases where the parents actually were good parents, not the cases where they were abusive pieces of shit who terrorised their kids. I've run into so many true crime cases where there's proof of the parents being really supportive, forgiving, and caring yet they still get killed my their kids. And yeah parents killing their kids also disgusts me, a lot! But there's something about killing someone who has sacrificed so much to provide you a good life that gets a rise out of me. Not saying that it's worse than killing your kid - I think that they're both just as awful. Child killers also get my blood boiling
@@lauraanderson8785There can also be caring and good parents in the eyes of society but in the intimacy of their home they are not so. Some parents are good providers or even spend time with their children but at times they can still take advantage of their youth and rape them. We can't tell for sure this was not such a case. There is not sufficient evidence that this was not a case of abuse and the girl had a degree of resentment towards her father. Her boyfriend fueled that resentment to use her body as well. Her brain was not entirely matured to be able to process what has happened and then she may have been influenced to kill her father by that boyfriend who was a psychopath as well.
@@mon_ange333mony4This doesn't justify her actions, no parent is perfect. I hope your children don't betray you one because they think you slighted them in one way.
Just wanted to say, still and always impressed with your quality of videos and analysis... why do I think that your "just a theory" is exactly how this thing happened? This case doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, but here you are unraveling it all (and always attending to the legal theories with accuracy, too!) Keep it up, Doctor Grande!
Just a reminder, I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating about a situation where a sixteen-year-old ventilates her father like this.
her bf probably echoed and amplified any grievance she held against her father for his own selfish wants? that eventually led to the unthinkable. what were their plans beyond the murder? evil geniuses they were not. just evil
Her mother immediately suspected foul play as soon as she couldn't reach her ex by phone. As such I don't think impulsiveness played a role here. Sierra was obviously showing signs of dangerous violent behavior while she still lived with her mother. This appears to be a case of a dangerous child whom the parents failed to deal with. I don't know if they sought medical intervention and it didn't work or if they tried to control her through discipline. ( which would have been a mistake, discipline works on rebellious teens not dangerous ones ) But the point is they knew their daughter was capable of violent acts and failed to fix her ( possible nothing could be done ) and failed to protect themselves.
Just FYI, it's pronounced like "est-ick-aid-uh". Everything in Oregon (pronounced Origun, yay for getting that part right) has really difficult pronunciation. I'm not even going to try to explain Willamette, Yaquina, Champoeg, Yachats, Coquille,... Couch Street is NOT pronounced like furniture. Aloha is not like the Hawaiian greeting. Glisan Street isn't what it looks like either.
Daniel’s mom must be heartbroken her son was entangled for life with his first wife’s web. She was a spider. Be careful who you marry, and even more so who you have kids with for that binds you forever, once in the web you are trapped, and crazy produces crazy.
This is what some unfortunate good blokes have to go through..... my dad is a drunk.... never supported me all my life .... not a penny..... man the thinngs id have done to have a dad like that
Poor Daniel. Cuckolded by his horrific wife, then she probably manufactured an argument to get him arrested. Has to pay crippling levels of child support, and cannot see his children. Then gets manipulated and killed by his child. The poor, poor man. Everyone treated him like crap.
@@bucksdiaryfan Agreed. it makes me unconfortable how people in the comments treat him like a toddler. It's sad, but he doesn't give "responsible dad" vibes. plus, he pleaded guilty, and what he did sounds very common, had that happen to me with my ex, though no kids involved, and i left him before it got worse. Why assume it's manufactured? she was super shitty cheating, that doesn't automatically make daniel a saint. I can empathise if he wasn't aware of his own flaws, he may have realized too late, but really, missing all the signs isn't congruent with being this awesome dad everyone makes him out to be. That daughter definitely knew her mom wouldn't allow the relationship, no wonder she didn't want to go back, she would have stayed with anyone (her dad or not) so long as they didn't interfere with her plan.
