Here are the directions to my new club house if you want to come and hang. flatfiv.co/pages/lees-clubhouse. There is fun swag there too! My PO Box is: Leland Sklar PO Box 92316 600 Lincoln Ave. Pasadena, CA 91109-9998
Whenever I see Tommy play live I think of his brother Phil who played with him sometimes and was sadly called home too young. Tommy is a great guy and does a lot for people and still calls Australia home and is very loved. So great to watch him play and thank you Lee for this little slice of paradise. 👍☮️
When you are connected to your instrument, your music, and have an antenna to a higher spirit... you play like TE. It's improvised and it is honest. And such skill.
Jerry has an extensive, Sklar-like history in the studio. The list of musicians he's worked with would read like a Who's Who. And yes, Lee and Jerry have shared sessions.
Tommy and Jerry *_each_* peg the Awesome Meter™ hard into the red on their own, but together...well, there really are no words I can conjure up that do justice to the musical sorcery they create. And on toppa that, the fact that this miraculous event was captured by Lee...wuh! This video creates something like a sacred space for those who get it. 😎
Yes, Tommy is one of those rare high altitude birds that can fly at 20 thousand feet like it was nothin! He has the technical ability to do just about anything on a guitar. Kinda reminds me of Les Paul and Mary Ford of course. :-) Thank you Lee for this peek at a live performance of Tommy!
I’ve seen both Tommy and Jerry preform on stage but never together. Telluride is the greatest setting on Earth. Thank you for posting. Signed Truly Grateful
Thank You Leland! You keep dropping these lovely jewels upon us, and WE love you for it! Both of these guys are at the very top of the food chain, and emphasis the importance of spontaneous playing, listening, and tasteful interaction.
Morning Leland 💖🧙🏼♂️ Beautiful sound, beautiful people, Beautiful place... Thankyou for a.. 'Solstice Telluride' with the very best! (Jerry 'Jezebel' Douglas! 💖) (Tommy E. too!) Healing energy ⚡ to Maureen ✨ and the boys 💖 🐾 🐾 🐾
Thank you Leland for posting, saw these two in Bury St Edmunds, U.K last year and they we're as wonderful as they are here. The sheer joy they effuse is so refreshing.
Beautiful job capturing this Leland! I listened live on KOTO, but this let's us actually see it, with great sound, from a primo seat, too! Thanks so much for this and the behind the scenes view of Molly too!
Hiya Leeeeee!!! 😂❤🥰 Sorry I'm so late! It's been a crazy, busy week for getting things done. ✔️ What a great duo these guys are! 🎸🎶 Thank you so much for this treat! Love you very much!! ❤🎶😎🥰🤗
@@annirvin6555 It was delayed due to covid and rescheduled really enjoyed , but a long way to travel for me my son lives in bishop so spent a few day there prior to the show
Two Legends on stage and another one recording!! Awesome Lee!! I'd love to hear you up there playing with them!! Jerry is amazing and Tommy is phenomenal!! Thanks for sharing this!!
Brilliant! TE started off as a drummer in his brother’s group but great time is just the start of his musical prowess. Certainly an inspiring performance and kudos to Leland for holding the phone so steady for so long!
Everybody's got their "favorite" guitarist -- if there is such a thing, it's all very subjective -- but TE edges out all the other pickers and players I have loved to listen to as my own favorite. Aside from mastery of his instrument, and an astonishing melodic sense, this guy I think has more fun making music for people's enjoyment than anyone else I can think of. And Jerry Douglas? Just blows me away -- incredible, incredible, incredible...what a performance.
Thanks for posting this! Have seen Tommy a few times live and is always off the charts amazing! Saw him with Jerry Douglas last year and Molly Tuttle this year. Definitely worth checking out Molly if anyone has not heard her.
OK...third listen ...this time at full volume...absolutely mind blowing musicianship....and the sound quality of the video is really good too.... You've really captured some magic here Lee... ...and you should definitely jam with them...❤
@@artemisXsidecross I've probably gotta change out the recessed light bulbs. That, and the windows are first on the triage of what I, can do. Have a new extension apparatus to gently cane the ceiling with.
I love Jerry's playing ---- Slide Rule, and Skip Hop & Wobble are two of my favorite records ---- but I've never really warned up to Tommy's playing; he's very proficient and polished, great technique, but it's a bit stiff for my taste. I prefer Martin Simpson, who ought to be at least as well known as Tommy is. I've also seen Richard Thompson about 20 times, and Leo Kottke almost as many, although sadly his talent has dimmed with age.
Thank you for sharing Leland, this is amazing. I have seen both of them, but never together. You are one of my favorite Bassists and have influenced my playing over the years. Thank you!
