Pretty sure Tommy blessed himself with thousands of hours worth of practice and dedication to reach the level of perfection and talent he has on guitar and performance.
Ahhhhh…doesn’t Tommy just make you feel everything’s aalll riighht in the world! Makes my heart break out in a flurry of smiles. So grateful for his beautiful, inimitable music. Makes life put on some sort of sparkly rose-colored glasses somehow. Love being suspended on that feeling, i do!
What ya mean by tough crowd is that they didn't appreciate his set as much as you did. Maybe they don't enjoy so much his antics, and came for serious focussed guitar work.
Besides his incredible guitar playing I love listening to his stories. There are lots of guitarist with great technique and speed but none as creative as Tommy who has has it all, a God given gift.
He is the most complete and creative player on acoustic guitar of this era - plays with clear melody, unique solos, chord comping, bass line and percussion - all at once. I saw him in concert this week in Canada (Sept 2022). It was a very similar show and I met him in person before the show. Great Ausy personality, with humour and humility. If you get to chance to see him - do it !
We may have been at the same concert in Ottawa...2 friends and myself were there for the Sept. 9th show...there was a 2nd show on Sat.10th.....a Great Master of Masters!
Amazing to listen, watch, & really just enjoy his artistry, talent, & know this man makes it look so easy, & enjoyable because all his decades of performances simply inspire us who play or try to, but this man just loves what he's doing, & it's so evident & obvious Tommy Loves His Guitar-the music & making people Smile each time He plays & shares his Gifts, his stories, his work ethic with all of Us who also love Him, & His personal connection with his Gifts- And we are all So very Gratefull, Tommy, Thankyou Very very much ! I'm a wanna be guitar player & listen to You Everyday - you've inspired me to stick with my playing so Thanku.Afterv61 yrs of playing, I still Love my " time with MY GUITAR " BUT YOU MAKE SO EASY TO Listen, really listen & enjoy right down to my soul. Thankyou Tommy !
I saw Tommy in Bend Oregon on a snowy, icy evening in early December. Now he's hanging out in tropical Jamaica. In May he will be in Australia. Ah, the life of a world-touring musician.
I was there and Tommy opened a lot of eyes. Many did not know of his immense talent until he started. The other bands, Little Feat, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others all invited Tommy to play tunes with their bands on stage every night after his first of 3 shows. A wonderful experience.
Tommy could step on stage with anyone and fit right in. He also has the ability to bring the absolute best out of anyone he plays with. He's truly a gift to music.
Thank you Jim for sharing. Thank you Tommy for being Who You Are, unquestionably the finest guitarist on the planet. We'll see you on December 13th at the Rio in Santa Cruz.
With all due respect to Chet Atkins I really think TE should step out from behind the shadow of Chet Atkins, I think he deserves to be acknowledged as the best, but he is too humble. Most of us know TE is the best that ever was.
Watch your wording Chris giving your annoying negative pest of a comment about the greats of the game online. Too Humble?? What do you want him be, a big headed idiot bragging about being the best?!? No we Australians are a modest bunch. To be mentioned in the same sentence as Chet is big. Your statement is pathetic! Wake up YOU DWELLER OF THE LONG DROP SHITHOUSE & come to your senses you fool..!

Thank you for the listing. Normally I would include this in my description, however I was not familiar with Tommy's material to know the names of all the tunes. If you don't mind, I will copy and past this into the description above.
Simply an amazingly talented man who was willing to put in the hard work it takes to achieve and develop the ability to play this instrument so utterly amazingly and beautifully .
In one of the Tommy's video I saw him talking about the "Saturday Night Shuffle" and now he's right on it. I have been trying the song since a year now and haven't got that right
@@michaelmcraemusic He is an amazing musician, story teller and singer, he said he would continu to practice to get better for next time he comes...and an humble man 😎👍👍👍
Yes he worked hard, I picked that up. Voice a bit dusty and not much crowd interaction - which is his trademark. Above that he was still great, the old Tommy shining through. Long may he reign...
Funny stuff, never seen Tommy cussing out his guitar before. Chasing tuning in front front of flood lights is a real carnival ride with nylon strings. it sounded great anyway.
This set was recorded on a warm night in Jamaica on a stage that was on the beach, about 50 ft from the water. If you listen carefully between songs you will hear the waves breaking. The humidity was wreaking havoc with everyones instruments.
The song is "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". It is found on the Beatles White Album. Written by George Harrison. I believe Eric Clapton sat in on the Beatles original studio recording and played lead guitar.
He's on the music scene since the eighties. I discovered him 15 years ago and I still was late. Saw him five times in 10 years. I shaked his hand and he signed my guitar outside the theatre. GREAT, humble guy.
I saw him and his brother Phil (RIP) playing in a touring Country and Western show in the early sixties in a place called Bruce Rock, Western Australia. They were pre-teens and already playing behind their heads, sharing one guitar to play a showpiece, doing harmonic tricks and clowning around. Tommy belted his trusty Telecaster around Australia, backing some of the best artists around, playing whatever genre was required. He wrote to Chet Atkins as a kid and they kept in touch so that when Tommy went to the US they formed a solid friendship and Chet anointed him a Certified Guitar Player. You'll see the CGP on some of his fretboards
@@buzzmanwiller1238 I am in my late 60's and have been listening to lots of guitar music of all genre's since I was a kid as my dad was a jazz and classical guitarist and I'm so damn lucky to see this genius in my lifetime cause there won't be another Tommy Emmanuel. He has put in countless hours of practice to master and do such complex stuff on the guitar.
Sorry about that. Good catch. My bad touch typing skills. The right hand moves faster than the left sometimes. I'm amazed that someone did not notice this sooner after 2 months and 40K views. I did get it right in the description. Unfortunately there is no good way for me to fix it in the video title frame.
Without a shred of doubt TE is one of the best and most versatile guitar players on the planet. His singing, however, has always been mediocre at best, and it seems his voice is getting worse. I think his guitar playing alone would suffice to mesmerise any audience.
I've been listening to Tommy for 50 years since he used to jam at pubs in Sydney with Phil. Tommy is incredibly good at technique and interpretation, but has developed more in his latter years a really annoying habit of seriously disjointing a song by showing off silly stuff. It's really quite pointless and takes away from his brilliant musical flow and destroy truly beautiful songs. He once admitted that his cocaine addiction had "left his brain like Swiss cheese". Maybe that explains it. He used to freely admit that his voice was shit and should not be heard outside of his shower. I wish he had stuck with that resolution.
