16th and final colossus - Shadow of the Colossus in HD 1080p with pcsx2

- REMAKE - ..... Old one removed.
Watch in 1080p and go fullscreen.
Shadow of the Colossus rednered @ 2560 x 1792 and cpatured in 1080p HD. Framerate markedly better than on a real ps2.
16th & Final colossus, Malus.
Emluation with pcsx2.
Once again, I had to cut a few second here and there to fit into 10:59
Isn't it funny how accidentally a lightning flashes exaclty when I make the final thrust ? xD It made it really scenic I think... I'll upload the final cutscene soon, wich should be right at the end of this video.

I dunno about everyone else, but I think the way this guy's worked the camera is amazing - you really do feel the awe and terror the colossi are supposed to bring, which is all the more powerful with Malus. I mean, look at those eyes - it's like no matter what you do, he's ALWAYS watching you! How's that for stuff to keep you up at night!

@INNUENDO88 Just an FYI to those that don't know yet, the games will be in full 1080p, at a constant 30fps. I agree that 30fps does the games justice; they'd look strange at 60fps. So I'm happy. Likely, they'll utilise the original quality of the audio tracks, too.

I felt odd throughout the game, but it wasn't until this battle that it really hit me. I listened to the music, and looked at the boss, and looked at myself, and said "this is *wrong.*" There is just something horrible about this fight, something that makes you think 'what have I been doing this whole time? what have I *become?*' And yet... you can't stop. It's too late for that. All that's left is to sign your name with colossus blood, and complete the dark bargain at last.

I think I prefer it when the colossi are standing in the open like this. Its somehow more imposing because you know where they are and there's nothing you can do except run right for it until it sees you.

One of the best games I ever played. Simply amazing experience. I wish my computer was good enough to replay it like this, without the framerate issues. But I guess I can wait for the PS3 version.

I was so sad when Agro fell off the bridge. I didn't even walk any further, I just stopped playing and didn't go back to it for a month or so. Then it took me about 50 attempts to even get to him... I always was shit at PS2 games.

@DeadlyAngel91792 Although the game is not released yet, current infomation is that the game will only be 720p and 30 fps. Not 1080p nor 60 fps. But we'll see when the game actually comes out. But indeed the textures will be a little shaper, as I compared my own vids with some ps3 remake footage.

@tonytrailer there will be an exact remake for ps3, but this is the original ps2 version played on an emulator on PC.

I cried like a little bitch when I thought the horse died. I stared at my screen for a long time in disbelief! I just couldn't believe it. The people who made this game, did such a good job at creating a bond between the player and the horse. The moment I saw this boss I knew I was the bad guy in the game. Through the game you start finding the colussus in tempals, and I started thinking WTH am I killing gods! It's really sad; but hands down one of the best games I have ever played.

@smoothdoggy7 It is nothing but boss battles. There's nothing else to fight (you might find an occasional lizard to shoot, which just sits there, usually, but that's only to help your grip). On the other hand, the world itself is MASSIVE and detailed to an insane degree, allowing you near total freedom to go where you want.

@MrXgamer991 the spirit that orders wander, "Dormin" was sealed in all of those 16 colossus, and wander stole the special sword that breaks the seals, i think that the colossus are weak to the sword , when he stabs them i don't know if that's blood or not but my guess is that it is their power is fading due to the seal being broken, thus killing them.

@MrExDArte They're not that dumb, a lot of them seem somewhat intelligent really. When a spider crawls on you, do you calmy and masterfully pluck it off you and then stomp on it, or do you freak out and thrash around like you're having a seizure, praying that it falls off you?

@rippedlampshade I didn't mean it in a sense to rip on the game. I've just been hearing about this game for years without actualy looking it up. It looks interesting but all I see is boss battles so I wasn't sure if I was missing other elements that made it the popular game it is.

Same way you may not notice that spider crawling on your skin. Most of the colossi shake atleast, but their stone/rock/whatever skin probably isn't the most flexible material making attempts at grabbing probably to hard for many of them to pull off.

@Moremooremore There are saves, Im just sayin that if you die during a collosus fight, you had to start from the beginning and while most collosuses arent that hard, some take a really long time and others can be very obscure. There were also alot of times that I would spend a very long time trying to do what I thought the game designers wanted me to do just to find out later that I was going about it all wrong. This boss is by far the most agrivating in the game, atleast back when I played it.

@DeadlyAngel91792 I hope the audio quality will be better too. The music's quality was pretty sadly bad in the ps2 version. I know because I downloaded an oroginal soundtrack for sotc and that showed how it sounded originally. It sounds very bad in the game compared to that. : (

@DepthOfMyBrain Yes, the cpu is mostly important. The number of cores may help a little with the multi-thread hack enabled (MTVU), but plain mhz is still the most important thing. A dual core with 3.5 ghz performs much better than like a quad with 2.5 ghz. Your cpu probably can OC to 3.2 ghz. With a decent cooler maybe even more. Btw high resolutions are dependant on your graphics card too. (I have a i7 920 oc'd to 4.2 ghz from 2.66)

@oldkingcoal207 Oh, Really. Go check on others' videos. Most of them only show the ground before wander while they are running around and you can't even see the colossi in them much. Yeah you're the only one. Most people compliment about the angles and how cinematic I made my captures. The default camera angle is pretty bad in sotc. It always just looks at the ground before wander. It's strange, because it's the nice landscapes and the sights of the colossi that makes this game so subtle.

Continuing from my last comment, I experienced a problem at the ending cutscenes where the video was 7 seconds behind the audio (the whole thing was completely unsynchronized). This happened when I was playing on 2x the native resolution, but I haven't tested it yet on native resolution. Anyways, I need your advice. Do you know of a resolution that does not exceed 2x the native and yet doesn't cause texture or audio/video synchronization problems?

If you listen past the music when you finally get to him and it shows his close up, you can hear the Colossus breathing. You're killing a giant, living creature. Killing 16 deities for 1 girl seems kind of backwards, doesn't it?

Continuing from my previous comments, I have tested the ending cutscenes on native resolution, and the synchronization problem still persists. Resolution has nothing to do with this problem apparently, but do you know what I can do to fix the synchronization at the ending cutscenes?

This is a really sad game if you think about it. The Colossi are just minding their own business with their innocent selves (except this last one) until some kid comes along and starts stabbing all their glowing bits so he can wake up his girlfriend. :/

Yep. PCSX2 is VERY processor intensive and requires a MODERN Intel processor, AMD or VIA will not suffice.

To be honest this Colossi wasnt as bad as the one before. The one before was so complicated, if you fell he had to stomp on a platform and you had to climb all the way back up. This one was just too damn big and if you fell, you're in for a long climb...
