"17" - a War Thunder movie by Haechi 

So true, B17 bomber life before patch 1.43.. Half of the murican team was bombers (8-9) They usually did a formation. There was like 4-5 fighters. 2-3 usually covered them bombers, the others went solo. The solo fighters got REKT, german fighters, the ones who covered the bombers usually too, but at least they did some damage.. After this the B17s killed the entire remaining german team, expect 2-3 pilot. They only killed like 3 bombers, 1 on the way got shot down by flak, 1 more crashed because critical damage. The other dropped their load, and they won..

When I saw the bomber going for a land and his wing clipped off...-Instintly Depressed- Just imagine being the bomber behind him, and you witnessed it.

That one Fortress that didn't make it.......seeing that brings a tear to my eye, every time.

I feel bad for those B-17 crew in the end.... so close to getting home.... well its bravery for dying to bring freedom and for your country

I felt so bad for the one bomber that didn't make it I was like "Come on, come on ,come on, make it, make, you're a Flying Fortress you can make it come on MAKE IT......DAMNIT NOOOO!" I actually cried a little....

that was so depressing at the end when the one bomber was right there then just died

17:55 That B17 crew deserves the most love. I am so depressed to see this crew complete their last mission and the hot sun (i may be wrong) causes a fuel first on the ENG4 and crash before they touch the AFB. #B17PilotForever

Wow amazing definitely subscribing! The bomber death at 18.43 made me quite sad but that's life and it's what they would have been put thought.......hats off to all... Keep up all the hard work!

IMHO the big "mistake" is using the USAF insignia on the wings of the bombers. USAF was created in 1947 so...during the war they used the Army star. But B17 is such an icon that who cares? Beautiful video, sir

And My favorite bombers is the B-17.

SPOLIER ALERT I thought it was good. The music seemed to fit in some places but in others it didn't. Now I know what I'm going to say might not be entirely possible in Warthunder (Having tried it myself) but here goes: .Firstly you had only a handful of B-17s whereas normal any single mission would have 70+ .You had no real formation, what made the B-17 powerful was it's armament which was only effective in formation. What I'm saying is, a tight nit pack of B-17s could easily defend their own against fighters who get in amongst them, it's only at this point that those guns are really effective. .Your fighter escort is to small .German BF-109s never attacked from the position you did. They cam from behind and normally sent in decoy squadrons to distract the fighters whilst the slightly heavier and better armed FW-190s went to work with their cannons. I can only speculate your altitude to be around 4500m, B-17s were high altitude bombers that normally flew much, much higher, this is why the gun crews all had air masks and the Fighters, both escort and attacking were designed with pressurised cockpits Well aside from those facts, which don't blame you for not considering (I've tried flying B-17s in formation with friends and it can hardly ever be done (For those of you saying he is in formation or that you have done it, when I say formation I mean literally no more than 15-20m apart) it was a good film, editing was good and the music at the beginning was epic! Oh and I'm not some dumb kid who thinks he knows everything, I'm actually studying Military history (Specialising in WWII) at University so I know what I'm talking about. Anyways, good film, worth a watch. Sam

Kinda sad when the bombers wing tore off at the airfield. It was like come on buddy your so close. But then… BOOM! Goes the wing!

the ending...oh my god, the ending. I was glad about the bombers coming back, and cheering for the ones in flames. It tore me apart to see the second fortress on flames fall only a few kilometers away from the airfield :( amazing short film. Like someone said, if it had voice acting it'd be amazing. Still, it's definitely a 9 out of 10. Can't wait to watch more from ya :)

5 years later and this still makes me tear up, aircraft are a passion of mine and this movie is still, in my opinion, brilliantly done. I applauded you a long time ago and I do so again now, well done Haechi.

Got this recommened to me 7 years later and its absolutely stunning. I loved the sound of silence scene, it was wonderful

not really an accurate movie about how they were IRL....but its a game and a movie for fun so....GREAT JOB BTW ITS AMAZING i never managed to do this in new war thunder

When people enlisted as bomber pilots/gunner's/navigators, they were basely signing up to be in a lunchbox that was being used for target practice.

That happened fairly frequently in real life too. On one combat mission, my father (a B-17G bombardier, sitting in the nose) counted 11 B-17's going down in flames, most were downed by fighters, a few from AAA (& those were only the ones he could see from the front of his bomber). He completed 20 combat missions before his bomber was shot down (crashed landed in Sweden where he became a POW of a neutral country (see the You Tube video "The GERMAN" featuring a different country, with same result.

I'm not gonna hate on the video any more but why does no one notice the Simon and garfunkel music when they are up. I don't get it. And if anyone wants to know the song it's sound of silence.

That would suck if like your that one guy on fire and the run way is right there but then a part your wing brakes off and you crash land and die that would just suck

great, my only complaint is that the singing at the end song just doesnt fit. something orchestral with no singing would have fitted better in my opinion.

For the shooting we purposely didn't use the first person gunners and the Fw190 shoot inaccurately. We did two runs and the first one the 190 were free to go and annihilated us. So here I think we only had 2 or 3 Ace crews. It's patch 1.29.

Played in HB but switched controls to full controls while on the ground so we can shut off the engines. Also for your other question. As much I love the E/L, I wanted to showcase the G which is usually left over even though it was the most produced version.

They didn't bomb at night, which is different. What you should have noticed is that they fly for more than 10 hours just to reach their target and that's completely unrealistic. The night scene is here just for itself.

Two for take off, two for landing, one for the night flight, two for the air battle and five for the bombing. Night flight and air battle required 15min of flight to get to the right altitude.

I actually had my first attempt at voicing on my last video "Flying Tigers". It's not perfect but it's a start and I'm definitely going to do more. Check it on my channel and tell me what you think of it.

I know what you mean. I'm currently working on a fully voiced project and I wish I had more experience at the time I did "17" so I could add voices. An other time for an other story !

Hi! Some... issues. I know mostly it's war thunder, but perhaps you might take them into consideration if you do another b17 vid. 1) B17 engines always started 1 by 1.. and they had intertia starters, not electric motor starters 2) RAF did night raids, not USAAF 3) I'm pretty sure that USAAF 8th AF (the guys bombing berlin) were olive drab. Might be wrong 4) they CLAW their way off the runway with a bomb load like that... they dont hop skip and jump. overall, loved it. pleasure to watch :) please correct me if my corrections are wrong.. this is coming from a history hobbyist not a b17 vet :P

Saw this video when it came out as part of a warthunder video competition if I remember correctly. It’s stuck in my mind this long. Looked for it for two nights. I finally remembered “17”. Still love this video. Thanks!!!

When they were landing and the last two planes were approaching I was imagining the main character on the not damaged one saying “it’s gonna be alright buddy, just hang on. Just a little longer.” And the wing clips off Other character: “oh my god, holy shit the wing came off we’re going down!” Main character: “Get out! Get out of there!” And the plane crashes “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!” And he drops his head on the yoke, crying.

Really nicely done. Some very exciting and emotional parts to it. You let the scenes and music do the work with no dialogue....a brave choice that worked IMHO. Like so many other posters, I felt badly for that one plane that went down just short of the airfield. Thanks very much.

Defiantly, Doolittle raid would be cool. You'd have to have B-25s take off from the WT carriers though :o! But, if you could, I'd love to see them running out of fuel and the crews ditching over china. Great Idea!
