I have been using ink refills on mini ink daubers to color the edges of Tarot and Oracle cards. I prefer to do the quick method and ink the entire deck at once by lining up the bottom or side edges on the table and squeezing the top edge or the opposite side edge together and rubbing the ink dauber on the whole side. There is a little bit of wicking, but wiping with a paper towel the next day takes care of that. Doing one card at a time makes way more of a mess and takes days.
That bubble technique is GREAT for an underwater or ocean theme.... LOVED your video. Watercolors make me nervous she says....next time I come to Germany - we're taking a watercolor class together. This was SO much fun, I'm glad we did this chickie!!! 😘😘🎨
I love collecting CP minis, they're easier to store, portable, etc, and I recently started ordering refills of specific colors prior to minis coming out! These techniques are so cool, I was familiar with a few, never heard of the polished stone technique but love it and the brush pen idea is awesome!
You changed my mind on buying them! I was in the mind set that I needed to buy ink pads and refills. Now that I see a refill on clearance I just might buy the color if I like it and won’t need the actual pad. It’s a win win for me, thank you!!
I buy Stampin Up ink pads and I always buy the refill when I buy a new colour. They sell a pack of five uninked ink cube pads, so I bought those and 5 reinkers in colours that I am less likely to use frequently. I can make my own ink cubes more cheaply and reink them infinitely. Thanks for all the ideas.
Hi Justine. Have you ever used pigment inks in this way? Over the years I’ve accumulated a large collection of pigment ink refills which I never use. I hate to toss them but don’t use pigment ink stamp pads anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks
Quite certain it would work, I've never had pigment refills aside from the oxides which has pigment mixed in. Give it a try, there's no harm in that :)
Thanks so much for the great tips! I love to collect ink refills...and now know more ways to use them. The bubble technique and the embossing paste are my favorites!
I live in a very dry climate, Colorado, and I love re-inkers! If I didn’t have re-inkers, every pad that I open would be dried out in 3 to 6 months! And, since there has been so much changes in the stamping industry since 2008, when the bottom fell out of the economy, I am very thankful that I have all of my Color Box pigment pad re-inkers! Best gold and silver Around, and they are not available anymore.
This is great and so funny - I just saw another person ( a Stampin Up demonstrator) show that bubble technique today too. Going to have to give that one a try!
In a word "AWESOME"!! So many FABULOUS reinker ideas, tips and tricks! Cannot wait to break out my reinkers. I will be playing, making mess and having LOADS OF FUN!! I headed over to Ingrid's vid and it was also FABULOUS! Thanks for recommending. Arlene
I would definitely have ink pads over refills, just easier and less messy. I just wanted to show ways to use the refills if you have them to get more use out of them
Wow!!!!!! That is awesome. And all the different ways that ink refills can b used homemade. Again u r showing us that we don't need 2 go out & buy everything we c & want. Thank u 4 showing us how we van get similar results & save money at the same time. Have a great day.
you can also do the bubbles for kids, I did that for my sister and made a large mat that she used as a back ground for a group of butterflies, she loved it
I just saw your channel and I love the tips regarding ink refills. I have a very, very small space and don't have the money to pay for expensive ink pads, cardstock, etc. I will purchase ink refills from now on as I don't really do or have much time to do any card making, etc so the ink pads that I do have dry up. TFS, you are so creative! You have saved me lots of $. Rose Marie
Its easy to forget techniques like making your own ink pads. I just lost my craftroom. I started using water and reinker on my gel plate for the smooshing technique. I am going to try polished stone today. Thank you!
Yes! Gotta get out of the “full set” syndrome! Also, I’ve got too many color ink collections. This is great! I really haven’t had to re-ink any of my ink pads and I’ve had them for years now.
