Something everyone should look at is the rent and real estate here. Rent and Real estate is very pricy. Most jobs here do not pay well enough to make it possible to afford rental prices. If you are not a professional beware.

It's freezing in the winter, boiling in the summer and extremely conservative. But it has some cool scenery and good camping and fishing and some other activities.

You might want to move to Texas instead if you have your heart set on finding a bm to date/ marry here forget about it most of them are with other races of women most bm here don’t like bw which is sad

@@fatimamanneh9432 I understand that but I will be ok. I'm actually coming to Washington to chase a job for now and get into tech afterwards. Plus, I'm open to dating interracially and if that doesn't happen, I'm ok with being alone. I've been in enough bad relationships to last me a lifetime.. I need my money to be right first! Thank you for the advice though.

Good stuff, but you forgot the beer scene. ;-) I grew up in Yakima and lived most of my life in the "Greater Seattle" region. Regarding the weather, be warned, there's a condition called the "Seasonal Affective Disorder" that can be difficult to deal with during the long duration of overcast days, but I suggest, even during the briefest of nice days, go outside, walk, bike, drive (preferably in a convertible, with the roof down), have something special to eat... whatever brightens your mood. ;-D

My spouses job got transferred here from out of state. A few things to consider. Yes jobs pay more here than the south and midwest. The housing costs are very high as is gas, groceries, car insurance, registration etc. so the higher wages most likely won't offset the increased cost of living. Crime, homeless, littering and graffiti are rampant. AC is rare to non existent in most places even new buildings. The weather is lousy 9 months out of the year (grey, overcast, damp and cold) I'm looking at moving in the next year or two as this place is just not for me. Others may like it but in my opinion it is way overpriced for what is is. The few nice suburbs are far too expensive for most people to live in such as the Eastside.

The first thing you should know. Is, if you can see Mount Rainier. It's going to rain. If you can't,... It already is. The mold zone. Where the water slaps the rock. Personally wouldn't have it any other way, rain baby rain. A Veteran.. age 67.

I lived in WA many years, Kirkland, Bellevue and Bellingham. People there are very indifferent and reserved and don't have a shred of social polish. They are mostly tech people but act like lumberjacks. If you wash your hair you feel overdressed. Homeless people and panhandlers everywhere. Seattle is a sh**hole and it's now starting in Kirkland and Bellevue too. People steal in stores, the shelves are mostly empty, the merchandize locked up and the sales people look frightened. Moving to GA is a real life change for the better if you are not a recluse. Even simple people have manners. Housing in WA is insanely expensive. A building permit alone for a regular 2800sf home on a fully developed lot cost you $35 000. Any little outdated home cost $700 000 and up.

There is an estate tax that kicks in at a fairly low level when you consider the the average home can be near 1M and well beyond in the most desirable areas.

Great report, and well presented. I can tell that you are fairly new to here by pronunciation of: Pike Place, Gonzaga, Alder trees and a couple of other words. One of the driest towns is actually in western Washington, Sequim. I think your report will help those thinking of coming here. Many arrive unprepared financially. They think a $500,000 home will be easy to find, and will be upscale. It will be a tiny starter house.
