Hello Jason, I have a 2005 Roadstar Silverado, with 39,000 km, completely stock and am having in-carburetor backfiring trouble (air cleaner) when applying a little throttle. When turning off the bike, it emits a loud backfire as well, sounding like a pistol shot. The bike has sat for 20 years, but was treated by an AB Yamaha dealer in 2014 for long storage. Except for being moved (pushed) occasionally, it has not run. The bike was in perfect running order when I last rode it. When I got the bike last Dec, it would not start - I found that the fuel pump was not clicking and opened it up, with the result being that the points had totally melted together. The dealer originally charged $800.00+, and claimed to have removed the carb, to clean out foul fuel, then added fuel stabilizer, and let it run for 30+ minutes. I can't figure out why the fuel pump's contacts points are burned out, unless someone exchanged the pump in storage? Or is it possible the dealer let it run till it ran out of fuel and the points got fried that way? I have replaced the pump with a OEM Yamaha one. It starts and runs, but poorly. However, I also noticed that the FRONT pipe exhaust is turning blueish on the engine port. I have not ridden it, except around the storage area, since there is presently no plates or insurance on it. So, it mainly just sits and idles, but won't run unless I keep the choke somewhat applied. It won't start anytime, unless the choke is fully out. I have ordered a Yamaha carb kit (parts that you displayed in one of your vids.) I have a host of trouble, including having to replace the tires, as air pressure was not kept up, and there are now cracks along the sidewalls and won't hold air. On the carburetor, on the air side, there are a couple of clear tubes, that trail to the bottom of the frame, like drain pipes. Also a thickish black rubber tube with an added-on bigger 8" tube also goes down to the bottom of the frame like a drain. To me, it just does not look right, these tubes just hanging there.
