You have it right. In the modern structure, a Navy Captain and Army Colonel are both O-6 pay grades. A Navy Ensign would share the O-1 pay grade with an Army Second Lieutenant, with the next ranks up being a Navy Lieutenant (Junior Grade) and an Army First Lieutenant. Above Navy Captain and Army Colonel would be the Admirals and Generals - often referred to as "flag rank" officers. Which would be fitting, since the original term "flagship" came from the Age of Sail, when the flagship was the command ship - that is, the ship with the flag-rank officer on board to let the rest of the battle line know who to expect orders from. Just to muddy the water a bit further, I seem to remember a few visiting senior officers in the prime timeline holding the rank of Commodore. Not all navies use this rank, but it's roughly equivalent to Rear Admiral, Lower Half - the lowest of the admiralty ranks, an officer you'd put in charge of a squadron, small task force, or flotilla.

Of course, this Q made universe was actually not a mirror universe but rather a twisted version of the prime universe that the Mirror Universe's Terran Empire would have actually aligned itself with.

@@charlescassels3826 speaking strictly of the mirror universe we’ve seen on screen, they would be the same. The only thing that would have changed is the history around their interactions with the prime universe with the confederacy. But then again the original prime verse would likely be the confediverse’s mirror. That being said, the only way a universe could be more violent than kill all aliens, like with the confederacy and the Terran empire would be for them to go about it differently. As in something more painful and drawn out. Eradication by biogenic weapons as opposed to high explosives.

From what limited information I could gather of Confed and from my own knowledge of human history especially military history I would say that the Federation would need serious help from other Empires and alliances such as the Klingons and maybe the Dominon given that confed likely is far more advanced and militeristic than the Federation. They are more than capable of flattening federation forces due to better combat experience, more heavily armed ships, and likely have a edge in technology given that they likely have borg tech already in ships for several decades well the federation only barely started using them on ships. Also I bet they have more smaller combat ships running around than the federation does.

@@Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent I would ALSO like to add that officers like General Picard would have no issues with committing genocide if it would protect and expand the Confed. The Federation has no such ability.

Yes very different... The Confederation stands for humanity, and humanity works together in the common cause of "A safe Galaxy, is a Human Galaxy." You wouldnt be killed in a conspiracy plot to gain rank for example... With the death penalty for Humans being only applied for things like Treason...

If I remember correctly it is to keep out radiation from the sun because the ozone layer and environment is f'd up on Earth.
