Wow, always amazed by all of the different jeep \ trailer combo's you pull. As if the load isn't a big enough challenge, let's put barrels everywhere to make it a little more difficult. Nice job on both the trip and the video.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 You also went out of your way to get a lot of different camera angles etc. I sort of chuckled when the "chase truck" passed you getting a great shot of the whole truck \ trailer combo, only to have them pull over so you could pass them and get the other side. A lot of extra effort on the video. Really neat. Thanks.
I know you've got a lot of spotters, and steering axles on the rear, but still, that blindside at 12:00 was a work of art. I've got a VERY short trailer (compounded by being narrower than my car, a van), so I know how tricky it can be to back up short trailers, and you kept that jeep exactly where you wanted it, bravo :)
I have to say you have the ONLY Western Star that I think is a beautiful truck. Your skills and the team you have are absolutely amazing. Even though I am 48, this is the kind of driving I aspire to as a newer driver.
I LOVE your videos. I watch them to relax. I have a serious question about this one. Why did the trailor config need to be THAT long? Or why didn't they hire 2 trucks to split the load to make it shorter? I don't know anything about commercial driving, I'm just curious. Thanks, respectfully. :)
I see you guys have crazy log truck drivers like we do down here in the Southern USA. You done better then I would have on those 2 lane roads. Like threading a needle.
This load originated in Acheson Alberta and is going to Montreal Quebec. We are multiple drivers doing different legs of the trip. I personally did the Ontario leg of the trip.
So that unit came from a place called powell, it was one of 4 builds that get put together for a big train project down there, I was involved in wrapping the unit with that white plastic and wood
Your channel is the first oversized trucking videos I've ever watched (and only 3 vlogs at that). Awesome driving and scenery. Does someone steer the rear tires for those sharper turns?
Crazy turn wow, this guy was stuck in our lumber yard once for 3 hours trying to back his b train out, I went on a delivery, came back and he was still there, we picked his trailer up with a forklift so he could turn
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 une question ,les derniers essieux quand le camion tourne sont commandés par le gars que sont en arrière dans le pick-up blanche???
Impressive reversing that long load! Do you have a bigger air compressor for all those extra air tanks and brakes? I would assume that you would need speedy recovery for excessive braking. I’m going to assume that this load was not that heavy but just bulky by the way you accelerated so quickly from slow starts.
Thanks for the comment Rob! Just a regular air compressor. It takes a long time to build up the air in the morning lol. I was grossing somewhere around 220,000 lbs with this load.
It has 2 modes of function. For easy maneuvering it will actually counter steer automatically just using hydraulic pressure. But for more difficult maneuvering it can be overridden by remote control operated by the rear escort following.
I was there at the beginning helping to get that run established. We were taking the directly to the REM in Montreal. I havn’t been on that project since they got re routed to Kingston. If you look further back there is a short video on this channel with one of the trains.
We have funny laws in some places which don’t allow for more than 3 axles per grouping. So if we require 6 axles to carry the weight we need to have two separate groups of 3
Where were you on this? At the begining, it looked like you were at the truck stop at the bottom of the 416 at the 401 in Ontario but when you took the highway along the water, I cant think of where that is. Oh, and my dream truck is a Western Star 4900EX with an 82" Stratosphere sleeper, 625 C16 engine, 4:11 rears and an 18 speed manual transmission.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 I'm sure there's plenty of low miles western stars in the lower states, US military had plenty that should be going out for auction. We use to use western star, the general and AMC heavy haul trucks to haul bradleys, abrams & unmarked heavy cargo for DOE. They'll sit in a GSA or US mil APX facilities before they go out for sale/auction. TY for the videos, leo/mil retired.
I recognize the Nipigon Bridge, then Ottawa (admittedly, I jumped around), but I couldn’t quite figure out the route)…. Ight I ask what was the origin, then destination?
These super loads are a nightmare of waiting around for permits so we often use multiple drivers to relay the trip. I did the Ontario portion. I picked up the load at the Manitoba / Ontario border and dropped in near Ottawa. The portion of the route you are probably missing is Hwy 60 through Algonquin Park. We go this way because of the low bridge in Mattawa.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 thanks for the reply - I missed the part through Thunder Bay (the video starts 900KM from Manitoba), and the part around Geraldton - it would have been nice to see all the work around the new gold mine.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 wow that's low you can't even run a Australian Reefer over their at 4.3m and livestock trailers are 4.6m and train electrification wires are 5.2 clearance
you obviously don't have a hearing problem. ( hearing aids) I never knocked the music only suggested during editing he make the volume of voice and music the same...@@carldrexler7883
Tell me you're in Canada without telling me you're in Canada. Get out and move barrels like that here in Murica and some hard hat with a complex will come over and tear into you!!
I’m a calm guy but I don’t take shit from anyone. I don’t have any problem explaining the facts of life to construction workers. Especially when I have a permit to pass there.
I'm exactly the same. I'm not about to take crap from some bone head. I've trucked Canada and the states extensively and played my share of hockey. We have a saying... sticks, pucks, gloves, and chickletts, they all belong on the ice!! Good job out there bro!!
